Customers are saying

Customers enjoy the addictive gameplay, impressive graphics, and the large variety of weapons and monsters in Monster Hunter: World. Many appreciate the consistently added free content and the improved ease of use for new players, although some find the difficulty challenging and the story lacking. The open world is praised for its expansive feel, but a steep learning curve and the need for significant playtime are also noted. While some players find the controls require time to master, the overall experience is considered highly engaging.

In age where games are incomplete or not ready out of the gate, Monster Hunter World arrives to show developers how it’s done. This game has 100’s of hours of gameplay. Disclaimer, this is not an easy game. It is hard. It is hard to figure out. If you have friends that own this game and will teach you, definitely buy it. If not I recommend trying to get friends who are playing and asking for advice. Community is friendly and willing to help. Play it on PS4 Pro or Xbox One X if possible.

I consider myself a big fan of the Monster Hunter series and this entry is the one that did everything right. Graphics are gorgeous, weapons are all fun and have their own pros and cons, online play works very well, and the game is still getting updates and events from the time of this review. This addition to the Monster Hunter name comes with so many small changes that make it a better experience overall. If you're looking to get into Monster Hunter, this is the one to start with.

A lot of people will say you can enjoy this game with or without friends. While that may be true to some degree, playing it by yourself doesn't have nearly the same amount of enjoyment as playing with friends. The game does require you to grind for gear, so unless you enjoy playing the same areas by yourself over and over again, make sure you have someone else to play with. That being said, it's still an amazing game that you will get dozens of hours out of.

The game's story is short but let's be honest, we're not here for the story, we're here for the hunts. it's a beautiful game but hunting and weapon building is the most important part, so if you're thinking this game is gonna be a breeze, well, it's not. If your'e a first timer this may be a good entry for the series since it welcomes newcomers but the game ramps up difficulty quick. So be prepared. All in all, great fun and you may end up putting in 150 hours into the game.

I recently got into Monster Hunter on the switch and i HAD to get my hands on this one. The graphics are stellar and the combat is so gratifying. So many monsters to fight and so many ways to forge and upgrade your gear. Many weapons to choose from and a great game to play with friends online!! I totally recommend it!

I'm so tired of people comparing this game to Dark Souls, Dark Souls is great and all but the only thing these two games have in common is that they don't hold your hand and there's a roll function. By that logic, most fighting games are Dark Souls, Skyrim is Dark Souls, Katamari Damacy is Dark Souls, Metroid is Dark Souls, pfft, Sonic is Dark Souls. Don't listen to those idiots. Monster Hunter is fun, It's rewarding, It is a fantastic game to play with a group of friends, will it frustrate you? Yes. Do you have to grind? Yes. Do you spend countless hours playing it (if you enjoy it of course) and feel genuinely entertained? Yes. The Updates and DLC have been free and improve the game experience, some of the paid things in the game are there totally as cosmetics and don't change anything so they're forgivable. Get this game if you feel that you're not a quitter and won't throw a tantrum because a 7 foot tall bird killed you by hitting you over the head with a rock.

Great multiplayer game! The only Monster Hunter game that I really enjoyed, which makes me a casual player. A bunch of my close friends are scattered all over the world and playing this game is one of the ways we keep in touch. This game is very grindy but aren't most RPG games? I just wish players could actually see each other at all the parts of HQ besides the gathering hub. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this game!

If you've played Monster Hunter games, you will enjoy this. The game is best played with friends online because you can work together to find monsters and collect loot to get better weapons. It can get boring playing by yourself. I like the variety of weapons available and ability to customize and upgrade them. It may take some time to learn the best combinations to fight the monsters, which is the reason I recommend playing with friends. If you are new, you may get frustrated if you die a lot playing by yourself.

Monster Hunter is a longtime running series that has finally made its way onto current generation consoles. The premise of the game consists of slaying monsters, retrieve various materials and using them to craft better armor and weapons for your character. There are 14 different weapons to choose from each with their own unique play style. And the variety of both large and small monsters will keep you busy for hundreds of hours

Full disclosure: I've never "got" the Monster Hunter series, or that subtype of game based on mission-loot-upgrade flow. But, my friends were having so much fun I thought I'd give it a shot. The game is very pretty and feels alive with all the florae and faunae. I had a lot of fun creating my character, although she didn't look the same in-game as she did in the character creation section. My Palico is so cute, and honestly a big reason behind me staying in the game as much as I did. As for the gameplay, the lock-on feature is adequate at best, there is no training/help for the type of weapons/armor you get/create along the way so it's a guess which one is better than the next, and monsters can take an annoyingly long time to defeat. It's a tough game, and I'm not complaining about that (I platinum'd all the Souls games) but it's the obtuseness of everything that is eventually why I gave up and traded it in. So, not necessarily a bad game, just not for me.

First time Monster Hunter player - really had a tough time learning the controls and just figuring out what the heck I was doing/supposed to be doing. Still learning more every day, but every time I complete a mission, I feel like I just accomplished something worthy of the time it took. Have not felt that way in a game in a while, so I am very happy with this purchase. I expect I will put many hours into this game.

This most recent iteration version of Monster Hunter is streamlined for anyone, veterans or newcomers, to jump into the game and play. Gone are a lot of archaic and annoying systems that are replaced with easier to use ones. Everything’s simpler and fighting monsters is fun and interesting, and you get instant gratification in the form of using the parts you get from fighting monsters to forge and upgrade weapons and armor so you get stronger and fight even tougher monsters. Really solid game and highly recommended

It's fun, it has new content added every month and there are events every week to participate in, plus one of the best multiplayer communities across the world to exist if you play online a lot. I recommend picking this up even if you prefer offline games because you can play this game without ps plus, but you will need the internet for the updates and specific special events like the Kulve Taroth hunt.

Didn't know too much about this game before purchasing but I'm glad I got it. This is a fun game to play with your friends. You'll definitely need to play as a team as it can be very difficult to fight the monsters on your own. The one downside to this game is the online system. It can be kind of weird where you'll need to watch cut scenes before you and your friend can join together to fight the monster.

I wish this game had been out a year ago. It is extremely fun to play. There are a few hiccups now and again, including party-making. Overall, though, it's great. This was my introduction to the Monster Hunter franchise, so I was not aware of how time-consuming this game could become. There is a lot of grinding (which I don't mind) to craft the best weapons and armor in the game. There are many varying levels of difficulty, which is great. However, I just didn't have the time to commit to it.

I'm a hard core fan of the MH series (since MH 2 portable on PSP), who have "wasted" >1000 hrs. The graph of the new MHW is terrific. No loading time between maps regions makes the hunting experience more intense. The downside for a hard core fan, however, is the game becomes too easy. I can solo almost every monsters on the first run. But I can understand their strategy, as the market will be bigger.

The game undeniably feels like a Monster Hunter game, but improvements have been made to make the game more accessible to newcomers. A lot of the tedious aspects of the previous games have been removed or fixed in this one. The main story is a little goofy and more of an excuse to move you from one monster to the other. Organizing multiplayer games could be better, but it gets the job done.

Monster Hunter World is easily the best looking and most accessible Monster Hunter game to date. The environments are stunning and the creature animations are in a league of their own; its monster has its own unique movements and attacks and visual shifts to let to show how much you've hurt it. The game's combat will be somewhat familiar to Souls players. Animations are often locked in once they begin and you need to be careful with where you aim and when you strike because the game won't auto-aim your attacks for you. It's a game that's designed around the grind. Unlike other RPGs, grinding in Monster Hunter is fun and engaging because the developers have built in numerous systems that reward you in multiple ways for hunting the same monster again and again. It isn't just about improving your gear, you also gain other benefits that come in handy later. Expect to spend 20-40 hours gettings through the main story missions, but once you've done that the game really opens up and there'll be entertaining quests to do indefinitely. I've played with others who have put in over 500 hours. Monster Hunter World is a game that gives you back what you put in. If this is at all a style of game you enjoy you'll absolutely find something to love in Monster Hunter World.

This game was a great way to start off 2018 in gaming. Solid single player campaign, and multiplayer is even better. Plenty of hunts and expeditions to do. Lots of weapon and armor variety, which makes for many customization options. Stunning environments to do battle in. This game can be very challenging but it’s also a lot of fun.
