Moonlighter has a lot of great art, music, and a fascinating plot, with engaging gameplay and mechanics. I'm used to more choice driven stories (Dishonored, Dragon Age, etc), but this really hooked me.
Pros: Music and art are both great. The soundtrack gets stuck in my head even for hours after the game but it's never annoying. The mechanics are streamlined, and easy to use once you know them. I adore the balance of shopkeeping and dungeon diving, and both parts are equally fun.
Cons: The game is mostly grind based, which is a stretch for people who aren't comfortable with the repetitive nature of the game. You do have to start over for each run through the dungeons, regardless of what level you're on, until getting an artifact close to the end of the first dungeon. The tutorials are a bit cryptic in that they're all pictures, so it may be frustrating for some people to learn.

Such a great premise, this game couples gameplay similar to a Binding of Isaac type game, with shop management. Each aspect is well done, though other games do each better, but the combination of the two makes this one brilliant!

Everyone enjoys this game. It is kind of similar in style to parts of Zelda a link to the past. I like the overhead view, it doesn't make me motion sick like most of the 3D switch games. You fight bad guys in a dungeon, collect stuff from defeating them, then sell the items in your shop, and buy weapons, potions and shop upgrades. It does get a bit monotonous when you get stuck in one dungeon trying to defeat all the bosses. Each dungeon has 3 levels with a boss of each level, and if you get defeated you have to start the dungeon back over. Overall I would recommend moonlighter child and parents both like it.

I bought this on a whim, looking for a new roguelike I could play in short bursts. It has a distinctly Zelda vibe in visuals, plays like Binding of Isaac, and has some fun Rune Factory-esque life simulation segments. You alternate diving through dungeons by night to stock your shop and by day openinging your doors and gauging customer reaction to maximize profit. Along the way you invest in your town, bringing in new merchants from a smith, enchanter, and a few others to improve your chances at progressing the dungeons. This is a great game for any fan of action/roguelikes/life sims and a very welcome addition to the Switch library.

The concept is fun and unique, but only for a while. The game is awfully short (less than 20 hours to finish and I took my time) and have little replay value. I would say it worths $15 or less. I bought it believing in the hype and the reviews from game magazines and now I'm just disappointed. It's not a bad game but it fell short on my expectation. There are still tons of room for improvement so I feel like they could have done it a bit better before releasing it.

I was unsure on this game for a while, hearing that it was only "ok" at best. The price dropped and I decided to pick it up. Honestly, this game is amazing! You play as a merchant, going into the dungeon to gather goods that you sell to adventures and towns people. The cycle of going in, killing monsters, collecting the loot and then selling that in your shop the next day is amazing. You have to manage prices, what inventory to keep for yourself and how to expand your business. I've easily gotten over 15 hours of gameplay and I'm still having a blast. Highly recommend!

I highly recommend Moonlighter for a bit of top-down Zelda dungeon crawling mixed with a dash of Recettear item shop Tale. The game slowly ramps you up through the dungeons and you have to be careful as you push your luck ever deeper or return to surface to sell the loot you've already found. I enjoyed it deeply AND it just got a major update that includes having lil' pets that join you on your journey!

This is easily one of my favorite games on the Switch and PC. I originally backed the Kickstarter for PC and when I saw it was also coming to Switch I had to buy it in physical form. I am a sucker for pixel art and this is one of the best I've seen. Gameplay is easy to pick up with enough depth to not make the difficulty too easy. I love everything about this game.

This is a pretty fun top-down action adventure game in the same vein as the Legend of Zelda with an added twist of selling goods to customers as a shopkeeper. It's a fun idea but the requires a ridiculous amount of grinding to get anything done.

This game is a truly Legend of Zelda inspired game from start to finish. If you enjoyed Zelda: A Link to the Past on the SNES, You need to purchase and play this game. It does start out as difficult, but starts to balance out once you get going and learn the mechanics. The music absolutely amazing.

In Moonlighter you take on the role of a shopkeeper and your quest is to keep your shop stocked up with the loot you get from your adventures.
It's a clever twist on the genre. The gameplay is very well executed and responsive. Gorgeous animation and well designed characters round out a fun game.

This game is great. The difficulty varies nicely between three modes, and allows a new game + mode as well. I love the many different options for weapon combinations across the game. It is a little short for my liking but I didn't mind it due to the fantastic gameplay.

This game is so much fun! I love the Legend of Zelda and I heard this game is very much like that. Moonlighter is a grind game where you have satisfying swordplay and nitty-gritty economic sim. 5 stars!
