I recently bought this phone as a replacement. I wanted a few more features and space for apps, etc. This phone has everything I am looking for without the high price of other phones. I have only had it a few weeks, but so far I am happy with it.

Can't expect too much at this price, but this is a good, simple phone. Got this as a temp phone while my other phone was being repaired. Everything worked fine, clean Android OS was great. The camera was pretty meh and the build feels cheap, but again, what can you expect at the price point? If you can afford to upgrade to a Moto G6 or Moto G6 play (Moto Forge if you're on Cricket), it's probably worth the extra cash. But if you just want the cheapest possible smartphone that is still usable, this phone works.

I needed an unlocked phone for my trip abroad so I could easily change out SIM cards to save money. This phone worked with no problems. Popped in the local SIM card when I got to my destination and was on my way. Highly recommended.

I bought this item on 3/25/19: Motorola - Moto E5 Play with 16GB Memory Cell Phone (Unlocked) - Black. Although the specs on this phone arent the highest possible, I am super satisfied with it since I dont do much on cell phones anyway. I just call, text, and surf the web. I have used the 3rd generation (g3) and 4th generation (e4) as well, and know motorola is an awesome brand! the sound quality and lack of bloatware are great features of their products! at $130, its a superb value for the money. it has everything i need and nothing i dont. correct me if im wrong. but this is the cheapest smartphone there is that has acceotable specs. i was thinking of an asus zenfone for 120 dollars. but it has only 1 gb ram and the customer rating was only 3.5. so id have regretted purchasing that phone. btw i dont care that it doesnt have a fingerprint reader since no one else will use this phone. i dont need to worry about it getting lost or stolen since its always on me. overall this motorola moto e5 play is awesome!!!

With my very basic requirements (...phone, text, email & limited internet search/research) this is quite a step UP from an old Windows based phone I've used for years. Speed and features seem topnotch to me & battery capacity means going a couple of days (at least) without having to charge. I have a habit of putting the phone in my back pocket & I've noticed that sliding the screen over Velcro there has scratched it slightly...kinda surprised at that. Also, I've lost my data connection once & had to reboot to fix...but, every "computer" I've ever owned and used has required an occasional reboot! I LIKE the E5 Play.

Bought this for my parents who have never had a smart phone. It does everything they need and you can't complain about the price. The camera and long lasting battery a more than you would expect for a phone at this price.

The Moto E5 play smart phone takes great pictures, the sound quality when playing music is great and loud enough that you don't have to plug into a headset or external speakers.

Have always purchased a Motorola E phone as a "starter" phone for our kids. Reliable. Good features. Minimal bloat. The price is definitely right. Nothing fancy and I know that Android updates are slow or non-existent, but they'll want to upgrade their phone after a couple years, anyway.

An older model without all the bells and whistles. Decent battery life with excellent capability for battery change. Needs a memory upgrade. Maybe a little slower processing speed but I am pretty slow myself so it's ok

this entry level unlocked smart phone is a great value. loyal moto phone owner of several models: G4 play, G5+, X4, G6. PLUSES- decent 720hd screen display. moto actions- (Facedown= DND mode, pickup= mute ringing, 3 finger press=screenshot). minimal bloatware. front LED camera flash. MINUSES- low 16gb memory. mediocre camera performance (8mp, 5mp quality). no fingerprint sensor like in other 'prepaid MVNO' models. out of date security version. stuck on Android 8.0, no further updates. OVERALL this E5 play is a great 1st smart phone for kids and mature adults. Good backup phone for GSM service carriers.

I got this phone to use for my business line. I already had an iPhone and was not looking to get another do everything primary smart phone. This phone feels light and has a plastic feeling back. But it is sturdy. Everything about the device looks good, works, and is perfectly suited for my needs. If you are looking to get a smart phone without spending a lot of money, I think this is a good choice. No complaints.

My original Motorola G3 had a battery that lasted 3-4 days. This new E5 barely gets through one day, if you hardly use it. If you use it normally, then you need to keep a charge close by. Dropped the ball on this one. First time to give a bad review for any Motorola product.

It has the functions we wanted for a ten year old like gps text and calling without the price. I set up a Google account to add parental controls and set hour limits and bedtime. This phone is a great option for kids. Camera not very clear but that is not a concern. Happy parents here.

I bought 3 of these for my kids and I must say it's awesome. Battery is great and the phone is strong. My 5 year old washed her phone because she says it was dirty! Still works. My other child stomp and throws it all over the place and there are still no crocks or scratches. I would buy again. Motorola phones are never a disappointment.
