Had been a loyal Samsung phone customer, Rugby II flip phone, S2 and S4. The S4 cratered and even ate the replacement battery when I tried to reach the end of my contract period with Sprint. Read about and now believe that software upgrades to Android ruin battery life and charge cycle time. The Moto X has excellent charge life and the turbo charger really works well. Minor gripes are as follows: (1) the virtual buttons at the bottom of the screen need to be configurable. The back button (triangle) is at the bottom left and needs to be at the bottom right for right handers. (2) Limited accessories like rubberized cases that protect the rim of the phone when dropped. (3) Swiping open the phone automatically opens to the phone from the left bottom corner, home page in the middle and camera from the right bottom corner. This is kinda dumb. Just open the phone to home page. (4) Limited availability as I had to drive to Ft Worth from Dallas to buy one. The major benefits of the Moto X Pure are: excellent camera, no bloat ware, not too big like the Note Series from Samsumg, amazing screen image quality, affordable to buy outright, unlocked for all networks and more. If you are not a lobotomized Apple-Samsung customer, this phone is worth buying. I would have considered the Sony Xperia series but they are less available than the Moto X.

Love this phone. The Pure is everything I wanted in a phone. Stock Android, great speakers, fast charging, great display. I'm coming from a Lg g4 and feel this phone is better in ever way expect for the camera. Don't get me wrong the camera on here is still great. And once u consider the price compared to other flagship phone u can't beat it

I love this phone and if you can get it for less than 400 dollars, it makes it the best phone for the money to me. I had a Samsung and thought it was great, but I love the screen and the camera. I am not financing a 800 dollar phone, that's just stupid. I feel good about this purchase, knowing I can change carriers. The phone pairs well with all my other Bluetooth devices. This phone is fast and has everything I need. I will be buying more Motorola phones. Wow who knew they made them this good.

For the price and functionality, this indeed is a good phone. Pros: * Decent build (I like flexible plastic - more durable ;) ) * 128 GB Micro-SD expansion (though inbuilt is 16 GB, ok for core apps) * Fast charging * Clean OS * Decent - loud speakers (front facing) * Unlocked, works with most of the GSM networks (good if u travel the world) * Affordable Cons: * The screen and some apps do eat the battery fast * Slight - rare performance hiccups.. (heavy games) Overall: 7.8/10

This is definitely the best phone in the under $500 range and it competes with the other overpriced flagships. Pros: Great unique build with silicone back, beautiful large screen, amazing front facing stereo speakers, best stock android user interface without the clutter and junk like others, 3GB RAM, micro SD card slot that can be used as internal storage or portable storage, blazing fast and snappy, super fast charger and nice Motorola features like asking Moto X features, twist gesture for camera and chop for flashlight. Con: Battery is good with doze and greenify battery saving app for me but it would have been even better with a larger battery. It is a great price at retail and an absolute steal on sale which is what I got from best buy.

I've been a person with a big passion for cellphones since the very first Iphone. On my review for Moto X pure edition 2015 I can guarantee your gonna love it if your into android world. Camara is very good, Speakers are loud enough, Micro SD, and unlocked for all carriers. I was gonna buy a Galaxy S+ or Note 5 but lack of Micro SD and no 128GB version. I chose this model and Im really happy. Waiting for the Nexus P6.

Has what I wanted, unlocked, I think better than Samsung which is a really good phone but Motorola has better sound and is 200.00 less price plus additional storage. Pure addition. Yes I recommend to a friend. If I lost it I would replace it with the same phone, very good camera, very good screen, quick processing. The only thing I don't care for is the phone's dial "call" interface but it works well and doesn't drop calls, just different than I was used to.

I have a lot of smart phone experience, latest iPhone 6s+, Note 5, 4,3,2, LG G3, G2, Moto X (2nd gen), etc. I bought this phone primarily as a backup and to use as a GPS. This phone deserves much better treatment, lol. It does a great job for the money. The phone is solidly built and does not lag at all. Pure Edition means no carrier bloat ware, which makes this thing smooth as silk. The phone itself gets great signal. Speakers sound good. Camera is very good at 21 MP, but still not quite as good as the camera in my 6S+. All in all great device that I would recommend to anyone.

This is the only phone that I know of that is totally unlocked. I can use any carrier that I want. Also, I don't have the bloat ware that the carriers put on the phones that take up so much room and cannot be deleted. I've had the phone for about a month. I bought the 16gb phone and have not added memory to it yet, but the fact that I can is a plus. I'm not tied to any contract and I've cut my cell phone bill. For those interested, It's the same size as the Samsung Galaxy S6. The curved back is a really comfortable.

This isn't my first Moto X. Before this I had the LG V10 phone. Love the V10 but it's pretty heavy and before that, I had the 2nd Gen Moto X (2014) and I'm very impress with the near stock Android experience. It's the same experience with the Moto X (2015) I brought this a few weeks ago and instantly, Moto had an update to Android Marshmallow 6.0. This phone is fast. Zero lag, very responsive and great battery life. A few improvement over the 2nd Gen model: 1) You can add a microSD card. I currently have the 200GB card in there and it's reading 183GB available. I believe Motorola understated the specs a bit and say it you can add an 128GB microSD card. 2) Bigger screen, slightly bigger body. It's a nice 5.7" LCD screen. It's plenty bring. Motorola manage to keep it roughly the same size as the previous Moto X which is a good thing. This keeps weight down and feels right for one handed us. 3) Battery light has improved. It's now using a 3000mAH battery. I typically can get a day use of out it. Mileage will vary. 4) Much better camera but still could use some improvement. Comparing the camera to the V10, this was a bit of a let down. It does produce nice crisp image when there are plenty of light or natural night. Night time or dark is horrible. You will notice a lot of noise when shooting in the dark or very little light. But hey, that's why I have a DSLR. The camera sensor is in the Moto X 2015 is from Sony. 5) Price. This is the cheapest flagship phone from Motorola. You still get the excellent build quality and all the good features from other flagship phone. Tho this phone is a year behind now, it still holds up. It has the same processor as the V10, same amount of ram as most flagship phone at 3GB and has a very nice screen for the price. Overall this phone is great. If you're looking for a backup phone or a phone to replace, the Moto X is the way to go. We'll see what the future hold for the 2016 Moto X (that's if Lenovo decide to keep the X around.)

I have been a long time Apple iPhone fan, when looking at phones one of my goals was to purchase the phone without the need to renew my wireless carrier contract and not spending over $600. I wanted a phone that I could travel with by buying a SIM in country and be able to move it between carriers. I was looking at mainly Motorola phones and was down to the Nexus or the Moto X Pure. I visited the Motorola booth at VMworld 2015 in San Francisco and they showed me a pre-release Moto X Pure, I was sold. I really liked the overall look and feel of the phone, it does not feel like some of the other Andriod phones that are mostly plastic. One features I like the most is the Micro SD expansion slot, currently it supports up to 128GB. I ended up purchasing the 16GB model, which had some negative reviews for lack of space to install apps, but with a high speed Micro SD card and Marshmallow (Android 6) that will no longer matter. The battery life is good, it's fast and best of all it works for what I need it to do. I am very happy with my Moto X Pure and have recommended it to my friends and co-workers.

The pure edition is just as it says, pure android, no carrier bloat or any other unnecessary apps. The camera is very easy to use and takes great pictures. the screen is very crisp and bright. the phone is very easy to activate, just put in the sim card and restart the phone for most carriers.apps move to sd card very easily and the phone is very well constructed. I would recommend it to anyone who wants a solid built phablet with great performance and storage expansion and I will probably buy another

I've been using my Moto Pure for just over 2 months and it is an excellent phone that I would suggest with a couple of caveats. Firstly, the battery life is far too short (I need to charge it every night, occasionally twice a day with heavy gaming use). This is balanced with the Turbocharge technology in my opinion though. If you use the supplied charger to charge the phone, you can go from dead to full battery in as little as half an hour, and a quick 15 minute charge can last me through the night if I'm out late. Secondly, the phone is difficult to use with one hand. This is mostly caused by the beautiful and enormous screen, but it is aggravating nonetheless. If you hold the phone in your right hand you'll have trouble hitting the often-used back button in the lower left corner and if you hold the phone in your left hand you may find it hard to hit "go" or "enter" to send messages. Those two gripes aside, the phone is great. I love how beautiful the display and having a large screen makes reading Kindle books or playing games (Summoner's War, woo!) a delight. The phone is quick to respond and it runs Android 6 fantastically. I'm also a huge fan of how lock screen notifications are displayed on this model: you can view summaries of up to 3 of your notifications without unlocking your phone, and swiping up on a particular notification will unlock the phone and open that app. Useful for games, Twitter, and email. Overall I'm very happy with my phone and would recommend it to friends.

Great phone. I upgraded from the Moto G and this phone has a bigger screen and operates faster. It has a better signal and switches from WiFi to data seamlessly. Totally awesome 21 pixel camera! My only complaint is the sounds to signal incoming messages, text and post cannot be customized.

It does work, so let's start there. It took some time at Best Buy to get the SIM chip working. I didn't realize for several days that out of the box, the phone does not do voice and data (like GPS) at the same time. You need to go into settings and adjust the carrier set up away from global to LTE. After that, then it worked fine. My phone arrived before the Marshmallow update and I installed an SD card at time of purchase. However, I set it up wrong so now it cannot be used as internal memory. IF you want to use it like that, you have to set the card up for that the very first time you put it in the phone. Otherwise, you will be buying another card. The phone fits in my hand but realistically I wish I had gotten one just a bit smaller. With a protective case, it's a stretch. G Great points: NO bloatware, very fast processing, seems well built, great speaker and Bluetooth volume, fast camera, shake for flashlight is cool, verbal wake up commands are cool. Things to consider: Small number of built in backgrounds and designs, and no good weather and clock app/widget that is as good as Circles on my former Razr HD.

I bought this phone looking for a decent handset for a decent price. What I got was 10x better than that. It has a fantastic camera, great processor, beautiful screen and is about 1/2 the price of most other handsets that are comparable in specs.

I went to BB to return a Navigator I'd received as a gift and get a new unlocked phone with large screen I can use for navigation instead. The sales associate at BB told me that the phone [my son-in-law had quickly checked out online and recommended] would only handle data. I told the associate what I was trying to do and he led me to this phone and a Sony (I think) with similar properties. I can't remember why I decided to choose this but it has turned out to be a great decision. After purchase I asked my son-in-law to check it out and he said I'd found a great phone. I read the reviews online and agree that the rave recommendations at BB are correct. The phone has a high quality camera and I'm using it right now as a 2nd camera to record a series of briefings. I've saved quite of bit of money in several ways by buying this phone. The staff at BB (US 75 & University in McKinney, TX) are very courteous and eager to help solve your problems and make things work for you. I am a happy camper!

At $239 this phone is pretty hard to beat. It is unlocked and will work any carrier. Not sure about verizon though. Either way I would recommend buying a sim card from best buy if you are a sprint customer, sprint stores did not have the right sim card in stock at any of the stores I tried picking one up from. So I had to run back to best buy and spend $10 on one. No biggie. The phone runs buttery smooth, and is pretty close to a stock Android experience, this phone has a SD card slot and Android 6.0 will format it as internal memory if you choose to! Meaning you can get a 16gb model and pop in a 32 or 64gb card and instantly have more space for your apps and media. The LCD screen is nice and crisp, It has nice vibrant colors for an LCD screen. My only complaints are the lack of a fingerprint sensor and the stock camera app can be annoying. It's too bad Google removed their camera app from the play store. All in all, for under $300 this phone is great. I would recommend it if you are on a budget and are looking for a decent phone.
