Bought an alienware originally and it failed In 1 month of ownership. Exchanged for the MSI and I will never go back to alienware. This thing is fast, light and durable best laptop on the market!!

This thing is a beast. Runs all of my games at full blast. It does run a little hot so I use a cooling pad underneath. Games chop a little when on battery which is a little disappointing

Not all that great for the price. I like everything except it can run pretty hot when gaming, the hinges leave a lot to be desired, and the sound isn't all that great either.

Have not used it much but the combo of 1 TB of SSD and 16 GB of RAM (others offer 500GB SSD and 32GB RAM) is perfect for my use as a photo/video editor. I need to load Adobe Lightroom, Photoshop, Premiere Rush and Acrobat Reader and this combined with Office 365 apps overwhelms a 256 GB SSD fast. Love the looks and color. Compares well with HP's Spectre line but it avoids the touchscreen falderal and its 17 inch not 15.6-inch. WIN 10 has loaded bloatware like Candy Crunch (please...just leave it off). Only other negative point is MSI could have just as easily added a SD card reader instead of their tinier microSD card reader. Come on MSI - a SD reader could have read both SD and microSD with an adapter.

Upgraded from a 5 year old ASUS ROG and very impressed with the display and how much faster everything runs. The only issue is the fans start cranking and the noise starts getting louder and louder.

I finally gone almost completely PC. I’ve been using the MacBook Pro exclusively for years, since I didn’t want to dump money into a Mac Pro trashcan that cost two times what a PC would cost. I finally gave in and built my first PC. Wanting to cut down on how much stuff I carry around, I wanted to keep everything in one ecosystem. Other than the iPhone, I now have the homemade PC with massive capacity, memory, and performance, and this excellent laptop pc. After decades as a Mac fan, I find that this thing blows away the competition. It’s fast, cool, and relatively quiet. Really impressive.

They said I could get bonus points if I submitted a review, so here I am! I'm old and have purchased a LOT of desktops/laptops and this is certainly among the not bad ones (doesn't compare to my semi-portable Alienware Area 51m, but it's a lot more mobile, lol!). Anyway, that's one of its main advantages--big screen in a relatively small/lightweight form-factor. My Alienware is moveable (and worth it) but it's such a chore. This thing is truly portable and a joy to carry. Remember, this is a MaxQ machine and is clocked-down and will heat-throttle, but it's still a nice performer if you can stand to have the fans all the way up (I can, I like white noise--actually I can't hear them during gameplay--if not, wear noise-cancelling headphones) and turn down some of the ridiculous GPU killers like chromatic aberration, depth of field, volumetric fog, etc. The high performance-to-weight ration, good screen, etc. is why I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this laptop--I'm really happy with it--but remember there are lots of other good choices around, so look closely for what suits your particular priorities.

This is an excellent laptop. It's very fast, for the most part well designed. The are only a couple of problems I have with it. First is the keyboard layout. You have to use the Function key to get to Home and End. And there is no Windows key on one side. There are 2 on a standard keyboard layout. The second issue has to do with the touch pad. A lot of times my two finger touch will register as a 3 finger touch which will take you to the Window selection screen of MS Windows. I just have to make sure to separate my fingers well when I use a two finger touch.

Good Thing: Great laptop for productivity and gaming. No laptop can beat the compactness of this laptop. I was guessing between the Razer and the MSI, no doubt MSi came on top with the value for money and weight! This is the best laptop from portability point of view, no one can say this is a 17 inch laptop, fit into a 15 inch form factor RTX 2070 with brightest 1080p gaming laptop screen around makes this the ultimate choice. Thing to complain: I would say why have the flipped motherboard! It would have been the perfect laptop. The keyboard layout is bad, but you just get used to it

Overall, I have been pleased with the function, performance, and features of this laptop. There are a number of MSI "gaming" systems with strong mobile processors, varying levels of NVIDIA RTX discrete graphics. and a wide range of prices to match, depending on memory, storage etc., so be sure to consider all your options. This system had what I was looking for, at a price in the range I expected to pay. First, I am not a die-hard gamer. I enjoy occasional gaming, but I have many other uses for my PC. With its 9th gen Intel Core i7-9750 H processor sporting 6 cores and 12 threads, a 1TB SSD, 16GB RAM and discrete video with 8GB GDDR6 video memory, this system flies. Boot times are scarcely worth measuring, and sleep recovery is nearly instantaneous. I suppose you might be impressed by the SteelSeries keyboard for its independently-lit LED keys that certainly sport a certain coolness factor, but you might want to try out the soft-touch keys before deciding if this is right for you. They are responsive, but not in the same class as more expensive mechanical keyboards. Also, I have found the variations on key layout to be a bit awkward, with a shortened right Shift key that occasionally leads to an unintended up arrow key press. Also, the Delete key placement in the top center of the numeric keypad, rather than on the right side. has me constantly Paging down when I am trying to delete something. Also, I will mention that the font used to label the keys is a bit odd, and somewhat more difficult to read than any other keyboard I have used before this. This is especially true of the smaller labels used to identify optional shift characters on the QWERTY numeric keys (!@#$%...etc.) The touch pad is in a wide format that may take a few moments to adjust to, and I find that the system actually adjusted on the fly to my usage patterns, increasing sensitivity when moving across the screen frequently, and diminishing it when staying in close quarters. Pretty cool. The 17.3" screen is awesome. Color is excellent. Brightness is off the charts (I started off by quickly adjusting the brightness to about 47%). Video playback looks as good as the source content allows, up to HD limits, of course, including Blu-ray, but be aware that you will need an external drive with the appropriate software to play your disc-based movies on this laptop, as it has no internal drive. Sound is a somewhat glaring deficiency on this system, as it is on most laptops. The built-in speakers in such a thin enclosure simply cannot produce the full low-mid range sound of larger, more powerful speakers. It is competent sound, but is somewhat "tinny." Do not expect it to redefine your gaming, music, or movie experiences. For that, you will need more full-featured external speakers, or a high-quality set of headphones. With those, the internal audio component is capable of delivering a much more satisfying experience. Overall build quality is solid. I did not purchase this for its mobile functionality, so I have not put battery life to any sort of test. Nor have I had to carry it around much, but it is not terribly heavy, given its size. Smaller systems may take off a pound or two, but they are not likely to perform as well. Additionally, I find that this system runs both quietly and reasonably cool, with no hot spots. In fact, it will barely warm your fingers in a cool room. Connectivity is excellent, with Ethernet, USB 3, Thunderbolt, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth. Windows 10 Home rounds out the package, with ease of use that makes most every task fairly straightforward if not simple to accomplish. I would give the system an overall rating of very good, if that were an option, with the only real negatives being the odd keyboard design mentioned earlier, and the less than stellar speakers.

You get what you pay for I guess. Performance is as expected per specs. I am impressed with the speed and quality of gaming. The RGB keyboard is trash and the apps from MSI to update software are also trash. I have spent dozens of hours fixing audio problems and hunting down updates since the MSI Dragon Center and the MSI App Player simply aren't at all user friendly and do not auto update anything to the correct and current versions. The RGB keyboard has had to be reset multiple times now, and to top it off the H key just burnt out. The laptop is only 4 months old, a quick google search will show that this is a problem for many people yet somehow it isn't mentioned here in reviews? Seems odd to me. I will probably be switching back to Alienware simply because their systems run far smoother and update everything correctly on their own. Pros: Excellent performance for the everyday gamer on a budget. Case is sleek and feels like quality material. Runs most games in Ultra. Cons: Fans are loud, like you absolutely have to wear a headset loud. RGB keyboard burns out fast and has multiple programming issues that require fresh installs of SteelSeries to fix. MSI Apps aren't up to par for user friendliness and flat out do not work right. PC sometimes will not automatically go into sleep mode while the laptop is closed. Screen quality is honestly poor, back lighting is horrific. If upgrading from a 60 Hz you will be happy with it, but if you own any other 144hz screens you will see the difference.

I decided to treat myself to a gaming laptop as I don't have the space for a desktop. After some research I settled on the MSI Stealth. Initially I planned on getting the 15" but after comparing both the 15" and 17" in store, I chose the bigger screen. I have been very happy with the performance. I tested the game Control at 1920x1080, all settings high with all ray-tracing options turned on and the laptop maintained 50-60 FPS. I could probably increase this by adjusting some of the options in the MSI system tuner application. I know I don't have those options set to max. If you read reviews on the Stealth, they all note the heat factor - this thing does get hot when under load. It would not be comfortable to keep this on your lap unless you are quickly checking email/website. I just put a tray under it or put it on a table. The fans do get loud, especially if you set the "Cooler Boost" option which runs them at max speed. I did not use that option while playing Control and while I could hear the fans, they did not drown out the audio from the built-in speakers. I love the touchpad. I was a little worried about this as I never liked the touchpad on any Windows-based laptop I've ever used. I was spoiled by the silky smooth pad on my 2008 MackBook Pro. The touchpad reminds me of the MacBook one. It is just as smooth and easy on the fingers. Typing has taken a bit of getting used to. I'm used to smaller laptops with closer-together keys. Since the 17" has the room, its more like a full-sized keyboard. A proper numpad is a huge plus for me though. And the SteelSeries RGB lighting is not just a gimmick. I find it helpful when I hit the FN key that all the keys with alt functions light up red. The look of the laptop is very professional - it doesn't scream "gaming laptop". It does use the type of material that leaves smudges from fingers/wrists which may bother some. Using a micro-fiber cloth will get rid of the smudges. MSI includes a large micro-fiber cloth in the box. Overall I've been extremely happy with the purchase!

I bought this thing in hopes to take my pc games with me while I’m out of town for work. After down loading Ghost Recon Breakpoint I’m in love. Great graphics at least for what I was expecting. I have the i7 7700k with a 1080 ti desktop at home and I feel it looks better. Loading times seems a little slower but not while in game. I’m already looking into adding more storage and better RAM. I bought this laptop refurbished with no original packaging and no issues yet.

Beutifull screen, thin, and light. Not a fan of the feel of the keys or the placement of them. Its great that you can customize the colors per key. This helps when your used to using hot keyes in different programs. You can color code what you use the most to see them in your peripheral vision. You adjust how much you can charge the battery so the overall life of the battery will last longer. Personally im not a fan due to it being somewhat of a hassle to chang it after you have selected an option. Then of course with a power house like this comes the charging brick. Wish we can do away with that... Overall its a great product.
