I had this laptop for about 2 to 3 weeks now and love it. It is a bit heavy (as expected and the weight is displayed) but this laptop is worth the price and not as heavy as some of the alienwares and other gaming laptops I have looked at with heavy duty fans. The fans work great and never had an issue with it overheating. I still use my laptop fan just in case though but even when I forgot it, never had an issue. Playing Skyrim, ESO, and other games play very well on the highest settings. The keyboard is not a mechanical one but the keys still feel very nice. You can adjust how dim or bright you want the keys which I love. The touchpad is smooth and nice and I love that it has the two mouse buttons rather than it included in the touchpad surface. The screen is amazing as well and has pretty good anti glare as well. I would highly suggest this laptop if you want to invest in a laptop that will last you a good amount of years.

This is by far the best Laptop I have ever owned. I had an Asus ROG gaming computer before this but it wouldn't come close to the speed and ease of use this unit has. MSI has outdone themselves with this, not to mention how you can personalize it to your style of use and gaming! My wife is about to abandon her new computer and steal mine!

I did a lot of research before I purchased this computer. I had been leaning towards a 17" Alienware, but after feeling how heavy that monster was, I opted for something a little lighter. My current laptop is a monster 17" Gateway FX edition, 8 years old, and shows no sign of slowing down, but computers are fickle, and I wanted to have a great computer on standby, rather than rush out and buy one out of necessity.
After deciding against the Alienware (I didn't realize most laptops these days don't come with CD/DVD-ROM drives, due to Steam and other services that allow downloads) I looked into MSi. The Apache Pro is a gorgeous machine, significantly lighter than the Alienware, and the specs can blow a Mac out of the water. The backlit keyboard is a must, the screen is perfectly crisp, and the actual construction is sturdy and solid.
However.
Everything went smoothly upon first boot, but I had a sinking feeling when the MSi dashboard came up to walk me through the registration and customization process. I was extremely disappointed to see misspellings ("Pervious" instead of "Previous"?) and the instructions read like a horrible translation from Chinese. Other messages in dialog boxes were butted up against borders.
This may seem like a nitpick, and it very well might be, BUT, if I'm spending nearly 2k on a laptop, I want EVERYTHING to be perfect. What sort of confidence does it instill in your consumer, if attention to detail in your software is neglected? One review I read prior to purchase advised against buying this version, because MSi rushed production to cash in on the holiday buying season. Unfortunately, I think that reviewer is right.
Another aspect that gave me an uneasy feeling was how feeble the disc drive felt. When popping it out, the tray sounds like it's going to shatter. Every single time. It wobbles with the touch of a finger, and honestly feels like an afterthought, in comparison to the rest of the body, which as I said, is sleek and sturdy.
I wanted to like this laptop. I wanted to LOVE it, I really did. But in the end, I returned it, and the reps at my local Best Buy made it painless.

We got the MSI GE63VR first with 15" inch screen, 1060 NVIDIA and 128gb SSD. That thing heated up so much, it was impossible to hold it on the lap. We thought it will fry up soon.
Found the GE72VR on Bestbuy.com for the same price, but with 17" screen, 1080 NVIDIA and 256gb SSD.
Called Bestbuy and Geeksquad confirmed our assessment that same processing in a bigger frame will have better heat dissipation.
Bestbuy helped us with the exchange, and surely the GE72VR has been performing well with much much less heat.

I have had my MSI GE72 2QF Apache Pro 17" laptop for about a year now. I bought it from a secondary seller through Best Buy, and I absolutely LOVE it. It arrived in a timely fashion, very well packed and exactly as advertised.
It is lightening fast, and after initial setup, my desktop would completely load within 7 seconds, and that includes entering my password.
It came preloaded with Windows 8 (which I hate) but upgraded to Windows 10 without the first problem.
I really like the back-lit keyboard, which can be configured several different ways, although this brings us to the only thing I don't like about this pc, the font they used for the letters on the keyboard, which in my opinion is a very small thing. The W looks like an E turned on its left side, and the M looks like an E turned on its right side.
I am the sole owner and designer of a small web design company, and use this laptop to build sites for local small businesses. I find that it is more that adequate for the task and the mini-display port works well with my extra 21" monitor. It is fast enough to be an excellent gaming machine too!
Lots of computers come pre-loaded with bloatware, and although this laptop comes with a lot of MSI specific apps, they don't seem to affect the performance in the least and most of them are actually very useful.
I also like the fact that it has a 1TB solid state storage HDD.
I cant recommend this laptop highly enough!
