    Excellent Gaming Laptop

I'll say this up front. I've never had a computer made my MSI. Back in the day when I was building my own computers I did prefer MSI motherboards as they had great capability for their respective price points. I've also not had a computer powered by AMD since 2001 or 2002. So I went in to this one with some reservations to say the least. Here's the thing though. Why did I wait so long paying extra for the Intel/nVidia names??? There are things I love about this gaming laptop and there are some things I do not like. First the good things I like... This gaming laptop is very thin compared to my previous gaming laptops. Heck, it's thin for just about any Windows laptop, period. It's not too heavy and I can tell on the bottom of the machine and the lid that it's aluminum but I can't tell if the keyboard deck is plastic or really thin metal. That being said the overall build quality is above average and I'm impressed. Battery life has been better than average using it with typical daily stuff like watching videos or browsing the web. Gaming drains the battery faster, especially if you crank the settings up but still better than my previous gaming laptops so I call this a win. When the fans kick in it does make some noise but no where near as loud as my older Dell gaming laptop running a 10th Core i7. The 1tb SSD is plenty fast for my tastes and I've already decided to throw another 1tb drive in to the. second drive slot down the road a bit. The 16GB of memory is fine for most cases and I'll probably double that to 32GB down the road. The star of this show is the 10GB of video memory. It makes a HUGE difference. There are things I both like and dislike about the display. The thing I really like is the 240mhz refresh rate. That makes a huge difference in game play. The keyboard and trackpad are just meh. Nothing too impressive or to write home about. They get the job done. But as I mentioned earlier there are some things I don't like... The included power brick is a bit on the heavy side and the two cables are a bit on the short side. Not an issue if you're using battery or keeping it on your desk but if you need to travel with this beast know it'll add some serious weight to your bag and the cable length may become an issue. It's great we get two USB-C ports, one of which supports Displayport but their placement is a bit problematic, at least for me. They are located smack in the middle on each side which can be distracting if you have and accessories plugged in while gaming or just using the machine. By using an external keyboard and mouse I've gotten around that issue. However, the power plug is right next to the USB-C port on the left side. In fact there is not a lot of space between the ports so beware of that as it can make plugging and unplugging accessories a challenge. One big omissions for me is the lack of an Ethernet port! A gaming laptop should have an ethernet port in my opinion. Granted, the built in Wi-Fi has been wicked fast but I'm stuck using a USB-C hub that has an Ethernet port to wire the computer to my home network. Also, there is no built in memory card reader so you'll live that dongle life if you need that feature. I with this charged over USB-C but that would probably add weight and heat issues so I can let that slide. My last complaint is about the screen. Specifically it's 1920x1080 resolution. A gaming laptop like this should really come with a 4k resolution. But at this price point I can overlook that. For now at least. Overall I have to say that MSI really hit it out of the park with this machine.

This laptop is really good! It runs most AAA Games smoothly on low settings. The games that I've tried Is Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0. It sadly couldn't run GTA V but other than that this laptop runs all games decently. If you want to run really heavy games like GTA, this may not be for you but this laptop pretty much runs everything else

While the Laptop itself was good, the brackets holding up the monitor were not. Brackets broke after 5 months - I am a school student and have this protected by a laptop case, surprised at how flimsy it is. Monitor is now being held together by tape.

I bought this computer to replace my old 2015 Alienware laptop. So far it runs the games I want. I definitely would recommend getting this while it is on sale at Black Friday prices, especially since it has a 1tb ssd. I do have a couple of minor issues. First, this computer gets hot. You will need a cooling mat if you are using it on your lap. However, with a good cooling mat, the computer only gets a little hot. The second thing is that the power cable gets knocked out because it is shaped in a downwards L, and if you are using this laptop on a cooler and try to move it over the cable snags and gets knocked out.

I was looking for a powerful laptop that could both play my games, and fit in a professional environment for when I graduate college. This laptop absolutely checks those boxes. Performance numbers can be found in videos, but the keyboard is phenomenal, especially for general typing, it doesn't feel like it is focused only on gaming. The fans can get quite loud, but it is understandable considering how thin this laptop is, but I would recommend headphones or earbuds if you want to game with sound. Also this thing has insanely good battery life, for everyday use I can get easily 8 hours, if not more.

Very powerful laptop. The only two negative minor things I have are; loud fans randomly while browsing the internet and then while gaming. The other, and this is super minor, the power button is on top of the DEL key. If you're coming from other laptops you may shut down your laptop by mistake while typing and accidentally hitting the "delete" key when you're actually hitting the power button.

We've had this two years now. Probably only 10-15 hrs per week usage. So far the screen has needed replaced (1 year old), the fans have stopped working at two years old. I would suggest picking a different product.

At first the laptop was great. Then after a few months of off and on use the system all of a sudden would not use the 6700m dGPU for anything. It was able to pick it up and say it was there but when it came to trying to play any game the laptop would only use the iGPU and not make the switch to the dGPU. MSI was no help, multiple resets and clearing drivers didnt help, even disabling the iGPU in bios didnt work to get the dGPU to work. If you have a choice to make.... Pick a laptop with an nvidia GPU, not AMD.
