For me it's 5 stars, others maybe less.
Pros:
Fast
Upgrades easily
Keyboard is very nice
Screen Refresh Rate is awesome
Cons:
Fingerprints, I nearly sent it back just due to the fingerprints.
It's too black... I never would have thought that would have been an issue, but EVERYTHING is black.
Runs fairly hot.
So, aesthetically it's not great, if you are an extreme minimalist... go for it. It's very lightweight. Fingerprints are everywhere, that was nearly a deal breaker, but considering what you get for the $$$ in terms of performance, it's still worth it. My last MSI laptop, a gt60-UND has lasted me up to this point, it still runs but the graphics card is finally beginning to fail after about 11 years... yup... an 11 year old laptop that can still run modern games.
I was almost to the point of switching to Asus for the G14 with the new AMD processor, but honestly for gaming... a better graphics card is better than a having a better processor. The AMD processor will outperform this I7... but the 2070 graphics card in this laptop should easily makeup the difference when it comes to gaming. Plus this has a larger screen... I've had the new MSI for just about 1 month now, no issues have occurred yet over time the fingerprints have seem to have slowed down, or I'm just used to them.

I found this laptop while searching for a powerful laptop that could last me through the day while at college. So far I have been quite happy with my purchase.
The good
- great performance
- not bad temperatures for a notebook and excellent temperatures with coolerboost on
- fans can be very quiet when not under load (more on that later)
- sleek, easy to carry design
- comfortable keyboard
- nice screen
- battery can last a long time if settings are configured to extend it (dim the screen, battery saver, change fan profile, and lower refresh rate to 60hz)
The bad
- mainly just the coil whine. Personally I believe it is because when it is not under load the fans are practically inaudible, so they do not drown out the sound. If you have any background noise, it is not really noticeable and when under load it is never audible. That said if you can hear it, it will drive you insane. I think the rest of the laptop holds up well enough to overlook this though.

Great Portable Gaming Laptop

I've had this laptop about a month and a half so far. It has been easily able to handle the games I have been playing, though they are nothing too challenging. The keyboard lights have been quite fun to play with, various default patterns to try, plus totally customizable options. My favorite part about this model specifically from Best Buy though, is the 1TB SSD without having to get a more expensive model. This model had about everything I was looking for, slim and portable, lots of memory, good gaming and graphics capabilities, and included a webcam which the other laptop I was considering did not. The one downside that seems to be somewhat unavoidable with this and competing models of slim gaming computers is the heat. It's been manageable so far, though. You can adjust some settings to help combat the heat like turning up the fan settings and under clocking the CPU. I have had people on the other end of Skype calls comment on hearing my fans kicking in though, so I typically switch it to silent fan settings for video calls.
One weird quirk I have noticed, sometimes when I shut down the computer, the keyboard lights do not turn off. If I then hold the power button they will go off, though.
Overall, very happy with my choice.

My first gaming laptop. well, my first laptop that isn't a hand me down. HAHA
I've tested a few games that I had purchased 4+ years ago with the intent of playing them once I got a good laptop and they have all been playing amazingly smooth. So much cool things to play around with and multiple different settings that cater to different usage styles. The sleek finish is beautiful and also discreet enough to take along anywhere. Fits perfectly in my without being overly heavy, and the screen size is wonderful for me.
Fans are a little loud and I've encountered some slight problems with heating, but there are a number of guides out there that can help you to configure your device so that you minimize those hindrances.
Speakers are decent, but given that I normally use headphones with my device, it's not a big issue for me. The camera is also very average but gets the job done. Haven't tested microphone yet and how it is with fan noise, but the number of USB ports makes it so using my external microphone is an easy thing to do.
The 240hz screen is spectacular. You can really tell how smooth the screen is, especially while scrolling. With these specs, I suspect this device with be relevant for over the next 3 years.

I purchased this laptop as an “all in one” machine to use for gaming, work, and photography. If you’re like me, you’re not a fan of the overly gaudy designs that’s common in most gaming laptops, and prefer a sleek, minimalist design. This laptop checks all those boxes: it can run any game you can throw at it on high settings, can multitask various programs simultaneously without missing a beat, and looks reserved enough that it could pass for a thinkpad on quick glance. The construction is incredible and feels sturdy, yet it’s slim design makes it portable and easy to carry/use on your lap, and the battery life is solid - I’ve easily squeezed in 8 hours before needing to recharge. I purchased this to replace my 5 year old laptop which, despite still holding its own, was showing its age, so as you can imagine I wanted to get the same amount of life of this one. I’m confident it’ll easily meet those expectations, and do the same for you. As some others have said: it’s fans can be noisy, however, it keeps the unit cool and the performance high, so I can’t really complain. It’s also pricey, but you get what you pay for, and if you’re ready to make an investment you won’t regret it - trust me.

I recently bought this laptop to replace a poorly-aging Microsoft Surface Book 2. I use the laptop for productivity tasks like email, online learning, picture editing, and light coding / technical work. I also like to play games on the laptop during my free time. The games I spend the most time currently playing include Destiny 2, Diablo 3, Minecraft, and No Man's Sky. I can tell you, without hesitation, this laptop handles all my tasks and those game titles without blinking an eye.
Likes: value (you're getting an amazing bundle of tech for a super reasonable price - nothing comes close), RTX graphics, keyboard (feel and lighting), battery life, size, all the ports.
Dislikes: nothing glaring here - the fans get a little loud when playing games but I expect that, and the unit would probably be too warm to have sitting on my lap during an extended gaming session but I expect that as well (I have it on a desk or stand when playing games).
In the past, I have shied away from buying anything short of the top of the line laptop. I've had numerous laptops that cost well over $3000 so I was a little nervous about getting into this one, but I am so glad I did. Very impressed with this laptop so far!

This is my 3rd day using this laptop, everything downloaded.
The only issue I have on it is that it's a finger print magnet, BUT, just buy some stickers...or a skin, and you'll be fine.
AMD chips are out there, and they run cooler, but make no exception to Intels new 10th gen high performance chips.
Every Gaming Computer will run HOT if you push it, REALLLLY hot if you try to game on it for hours.
The fan noise, you will not get around it. Apple computer fans scream, Windows computer fans scream, it's always going to be there. If you don't want fan noise, get a tablet or surface pro 7.
After getting that out of the way. MY VERY FIRST REASON WHY I BOUGHT THIS
The upgrading. You have access to upgrade the RAM, you have access to ADD another SSD drive (NVMe). Comes with 1 TB hard drive, and just added another 2 TB.
Going to 32 GB of ram as well. So the machine is getting stronger.
THIS LAPTOP IS A BEAST.
Ran games high FPS, for hours, so thermal throttling is there...but it does a good job managing it. Watch youtube videos to find the exact FPS.
DON'T TRY RUNNING THIS LAPTOP WHEN THE BOTTOM IS COVERED, it needs to breath, meaning put a book beneath it if you're trying to use it in bed.
The battery is wild, I put it to silent mode and battery saver, got 6 hours just on Chrome. this has a 99.9 Watt Hour battery, that is .1 off of you can't take it on a plane.
The keyboard is very nice, it's in the middle of Apple's new magic keyboard, and a Lenovo Thinkpad GOD keyboard.
The fans, the 3 fans (which no laptop has), does great. Any sort of process you do on a computer will make the computer hot. Fans on silent mode on this computer do spin up, but it isn't bad.
If you're worried that this laptop won't be quiet, buy a cheap Ipad and a desktop PC, gaming laptops are not for you.
If you read this far, thank you, but this is me saying this is a great laptop. I produce music, I support software on this thing, and am a gamer that plays COD Warzone at 71 FPS on High, 132 FPS on Fortnite EPIC, and single player games 60 FPS on ULTRA (don't need FPS if you are just playing by yourself in my opinion)
It does everything I need, and more. Hope this helps!

I bought this laptop from BestBuy earlier today so this is more of a "first impressions" review. I compared this laptop to others in its class and it had a leg up in a few different departments. The other laptop's monitors all seemed very flimsy and made with cheap hardware, where this one seemed more sturdy and durable. The keyboard is leagues better than its competitors in my opinion, with a more tactile and raised key. Where it lacks is the speakers. They sound worse than my iPhone X speakers but this wasnt a deal breaker for me since I will be using headphones most of the time. The performance was about what i expected. It runs Overwatch on medium graphics at around 150 fps. Other games seem to run good enough but nothing really shocked me. One thing that is great is the 1TB of m.2 storage. Overall the biggest selling point to this computer for me was the price. I think its a really good value. I think when you compare it to similarly priced options this has the most sensible specifications. I wish the speakers were better but if thats where they cut costs to keep this cheaper than im okay with it.

I'll start with this is the first time in about a decade that I've been able to buy something more than a "budget" computer, but with that said it has been the fastest computer that I've had the pleasure to work with.
Any productivity applications that I use for work open nearly instantaneously and the quality of the graphics and color reproduction in every game I've played is top notch.
While playing games like borderlands 3 and Jedi fallen order the computer does get a bit hot, but that's to be expected in such a slim chassis.
The keyboard feels fantastic, and the RGB application is simple to use.
The screen's refresh rate and color reproduction has been more than satisfactory. I was surprised by how wide the viewing angles are and how well the image holds at off-center viewing.
As far as the price, I believe this is the best bang for the buck model, upgrading the processor and graphics card starts to have diminishing returns as far as performance per dollar goes in my opinion.

Let's start with the specs. 240hz screen that's bright enough, 1tb, 16gb upgradable,
The keyboard is decent (not a macbook magic keyboard quality)
The touchpad is surprisingly good.
It's a 99.9 Whr battery which is the maximum possible so it's probably the best you'd get for gaming laptops.
Issues
1. Thermal throttling exists a little. The temperature supposedly hits 90. I personally haven't tested this out. But, after I played for hours, the keyboard would get warm, the vent would blow hot air, and the fan gets REALLY loud. I sometimes feel the heat on my hand as I place it next to the vent while gaming.
2. Fan- at odd times gets loud when you don't even do heavy tasks
Regardless, I'm nitpicking for the price. Razer that's of a significantly higher price still doesn't match in specs. But the thermals seem to be better
Other laptops that match in price, either look overtly-glamorous, have crappy battery, or have other issues, while still having thermal throttling issues.

When looking for a new laptop I wanted something that could handle both my work needs and some moderate gaming. At the same time I didn't want to buy something that was overkill on performance and also had a great build quality and minimal styling so I could take it to work without it being a huge eye sore of futuristic/alien style technology.
This laptop was exactly that. I love the completely blacked out look on the GS66 Stealth and the laptop feels great! Performance wise as a moderate gamer, who doesn't need the ultra graphics I'm very impressed. I feel the 240hz version is perfect for FPS games because sustaining 300fps on a laptop wouldn't be consistent, and I feel the difference to the human eye would be hardly noticeable.
Tested it anyway though and the of course the fan can get loud, but I feel the way the GS66 handles it is very nice. It's not an annoying humming sound but more of a subtle flow of air that I was very easily able to ignore while gaming w/o headphones.
The only reason this is not a 5 star review is 2 things:
1.) This thing is a fingerprint magnet! keep your microfiber cloth handy.
2.) Weight, look, and feel are all GREAT the only thing that really bugs me when being picky is that the trim below the track pad is plastic. I hope over time this part doesn't start to chip or fall out.
Overall extremely happy and satisfied with this purchase. There are more "bang for your buck laptops" out there, however I prefer not to sacrifice quality and minimal discreet styling.

This laptop provides one of the best combination of appearing business professional during travel and low key hardcore gamer. True to its name, "stealth", the MSI logo is beautifully planted on the top of the laptop barely noticeable yet recognizable by other PC gamers. As a business professional in a job that demands being highly mobile, this laptop perfectly fits my gaming needs. Glad I choose this over the Razer blades.
Quick Comments:
- Fans are audible during gaming but is low pitch
- Can get pretty hot during gaming
- Wireless chip and Ethernet works fantastic (incompatible with AT&T uverse ethernet via modem)
- Display is crisp and does not have a glare
- MSI Dragon center has great options to maintain/extend your laptop's battery life and adjust settings like blue light mode
- Keyboard is very comfortable to type on
- Speakers are okay/decent but when gaming you're most likely to use headphones

I had a fully loaded 2020 Razer 17 Pro OLED for about 2 weeks. It had serious QC issues. I returned it and got the G14 for a week. The G14 while was fantastic was a little small for my taste. I wasn't crazy about the keyboard or the screen when looking at letters & numbers since I needed a laptop that could do both work and gaming. I read nearly every single review for this model and was very skeptical of all of the 5 stars reviews. Let me tell you it is 100% legit! I'm on my 2nd day with this laptop and it has been amazing! The gaming has been incredibly fun! Smooth, butter quality on just about everything I've played on it. The keyboard is just a joy to type on! I do astrophotography and the screen is really nice for it! The only con that I have which is rather annoying is the speakers are gawd awful. It does run a little hot but I have a laptop cooler I'm using. Highly recommend this!

I have had this computer for a week now and all I can say is WOW. I spent a lot of time researching the new generation gaming laptops and this one always seemed to be a second thought or just okay compared to other manufacturers. I can confidently say that that is not the case. I actually initially bought the Razer Blade 15 advanced model but was underwhelmed for the price so I exchanged it for this MSI Gs66 which saved me almost 1000 dollars and got me better specs (240hz screen, 1TB SSD, same 2070, same RAM, bigger battery) than the Razer. I say this is the best gaming laptop you can buy right now. The build quality is top notch, the battery life is amazing, the screen is vivid and clear, the keyboard feels great, and I love the feel of the track pad. It performs great with anything you throw at it, you won't be disappointed. Best of all you get it all with no compromises at a reasonable price.

I've been shopping around for months for a new gaming PC that has a good balance of power, expandability, mobility and cost. This was the winner and it's checked all the boxes for me.
Pros:
- Sleek, minimalist design but still comfortable
- Screen is excellent, 240hz is better than most laptops in the same category
- Plays top games on highest settings (Gears 5, Forza, Warzone, etc.)
Cons:
- Case shows a lot of fingerprints but it's not as bad as if it was glossy
- Fan sound / temperature gets high during gaming but this isn't necessarily out of the ordinary for these types of laptops
- MSI standard software is a bit confusing and hard to use, I ended up not using it

I'm a big fan of the sleek and 'professional' look on on this laptop's case. It doesn't scream to coworkers 'I play WoW everynight'. The laptop is very sturdy, and isn't made out of cheap plastics. It's quite light and very thin for the hardware it packs inside. It gets pretty hot under load but the fans work really well. They are loud at max RPM but, we all know how laptops go.
The hardware speaks for itself, so I won't even discuss that, but...the screen. It is fantastic. Butter smooth at 240 hrz and the colors are very good. Bought this for work travel and gaming while I'm not home, and it tears through all of my favorite titles.
It's a pretty penny, but worth it. Thank you, MSI.

When it comes to gaming desktops, I've bought as-is gaming PCs, upgraded them over time, and built my own gaming/media towers. But for laptops, I've only ever owned and used macbooks mainly for school and work. More and more, I've been gaming on PCs rather than consoles and I wanted a portable gaming PC so that I wasn't tied to my desk or hauling my desktop back and forth from the office to the living room.
After a ton of YouTube research and comparing various brands and models, I ended up deciding to try out MSI's offerings from Best Buy. At first, I picked up the GE66 Raider beauce it was on sale at the time and because of the upgraded graphics card (RTX 2070 Super) and 32gb of ram. I was really happy with it - the performance, beyond-cool lighting effects, fast refreshing screen. It had everything I needed in a portable gaming laptop...including added weight and bulk I wasn't used to. Coming from a macbook, I had a hard time with the weight and thickness of the laptop. The aesthetics of that laptop are also very gaming aggressive which just wasn't my personal taste. I like taking my laptop out to coffee shops and around with me. This far-end of the spectrum of "how-much-like-a-macbook-is-it" was really something I couldn't imagine for the long term.
I decided to return it and pick up the GS66 Stealth and I've been very happy ever since. I've realized that factors like being a pound lighter, much thinner and aesthetically "stealth" (as the name suggests) are major factors to the pride I have in the premium gaming laptop I want to own for the next stretch of years. It looks like a sleek, discreet business or tech laptop you might find at a coffee shop or a coworking office. It's definitely a sleeper, but this thing has some pop.
Some points:
* The RTX 2070 Mobile has been excellent so far handling every game I've tried with ease. I've checked various benchmarks that have been published comparing the RTX 2070, RTX 2070 Mobile, and RTX 2070 Super. While the mobile ended up scoring lower than the other two, the benchmarks posted for the 2070 mobile and real world gaming specs look more than adequate to me in all scenarios. The only exception being 4k gaming on ultra for graphics heavy games. If you plan on doing this then maybe the RTX 2070 Mobile might not cut it but that wasn't my use case.
* The minimal rgb keyboard lighting is fun and sprinkles a little gaming "fairy-dust" on what would otherwise look like a straight-to-business laptop.
* MSIs power management software is nice to be able to tune it pretty easily.
* Keyboard feels satisfying with good travel distance. Some of the keys feel a little squished (looking at you Fn/Crtl split button) but not a deal breaker
* Sound is just ok compared to my macbook laptops - but this is ok for my since I favor headphones or bluetooth speakers most of the time anyway.
* Good selection of I/O options.
* Wish that the power was USB-C
* Screen refresh speed is like butter
* Love the expandability for a second SSD and 2 slots of upgradable ram (which I plan on doing soon).
* Has a good quality front-facing camera (some laptops don't have webcams?!)
* Finger prints and oil are inevitable, but easily wiped away.
Overall, I'm super happy with this gaming laptop. I feel like I will get a ton of mileage out of it. If the "macbook" like qualities aren't a factor to you, I'd highly suggest taking a look at that GE66 Raider because of the upgraded graphics. But if you're like me, this one will call to you with it's sleek and stealthy gaze, tell you to put down your macbook and get ready to bring your A game.

I have also used a Razer Blade 15, and did a heavy comparison of the two laptops. I can confidently say the GS66 beats the Blade 15 in nearly every way.
Chassis: The one area where Razer has the slight advantage. While the GS66 has a very nice, rigid chassis, there are a few aspects where it seems they skimped out a little. For example, on the wrist rest there is a long plastic piece of trim (supposedly for comfort over metal), but the edges of this trim do not meet flush with the chassis, creating a small edge. This is by no means uncomfortable or distracting, but something to note. Screen wobble and keyboard flex are very minimal and are right about equal with Razer.
Keyboard and Trackpad: MSI wins HANDS DOWN. The Blade 15 has a slightly shifted keyboard layout to make it more visually appealing. However, the layout is different from a standard keyboard, and you have to adjust to type on it effectively. I constantly mistyped since many keys are shifted left or right. MSI has the more comfortable layout, and the keys on the GS66 has slightly more travel, making the typing itself more comfortable. The one area where Razer wins in the keyboard department is the key actuation on the corners. On the GS66, pressing the spacebar (for example) on the left edge when playing games requires a bit more force and is not even. Razer's actuation force is the same no matter where you press on any key, which would be nice if the keyboard was nice to use in the first place. As far as the trackpad, MSI wins again. The Blade 15 has a centered oversized trackpad which is good for productivity work, in theory. In practice, clicks were not registered correctly numerous times, and the moving of the cursor was not as smooth as MSI's. Also, when playing games, the palm rejection on the Blade 15 got tripped up more than once. With the trackpad being centered, your left wrist tends to hit it when playing WASD games, causing the camera to move, I experienced this multiple times a day. The GS66 has a very wide trackpad that is centered with the chassis, but not the spacebar. I was worried that when typing, I would make accidental clicks, but this is happily not the case. With it being shifted to the right, I do not hit it when playing games too, unlike Razer. Also, the physical clicking of the GS66's trackpad is incredibly good and satisfying. Razer's physical clicking is function, but MSI wins with the actuation of the trackpad.
Screen: The Blade 15 I used was only 144Hz, so of course the 240Hz screen of the GS66 wins here. Colors are good on both, but the blacks on the Razer seemed a bit deeper. However, this was a double-edged sword. When playing games (like The Forest) it was impossible to see at nighttime, the blacks were just too black. It made me wonder if the screen was defective maybe. The screen on the GS66 also got brighter than the Blade 15.
Battery: With the bigger battery, MSI wins. However, it takes some optimization to get the this point. Turning on discrete graphics in the Dragon Center and turning on battery saver mode helps immensely. Also, after deleting all the bloatware MSI puts on the laptop, fewer background processes are running at any given time, further lengthening battery life.
Temperatures: Again, the GS66 wins. The Razer keyboard would be hot to the touch after about an hour of gaming. Holding down the E key would be too hot to continue after a couple seconds. Touching the chassis in between the keys of the Blade 15 would be too hot to continue to touch for more than a couple seconds. On the GS66, things do get warm, but I have never felt the chassis get as hot as that of the Blade 15. The charging brick of the Blade 15 also got much more hot than that of the GS66.
Fans: This is one area where the GS66 falls a bit behind. Compared to the Blade 15, the fans of the GS66 come on often (in performance mode), and have a higher-pitched sound vs the lower whooshing sound of other laptops such as the Blade 15. This is more of a preference thing. I'm used to fan noise from my personal PC so this is no big deal to me. Also, turning the GS66 to Silent mode in Dragon Center eliminates the fan noise at the cost of temps. If you're just doing productivity work, Silent Mode works wonders.
Value: MSI wins here hands down again. For the same amount of money as a Blade 15, the GS66 upgrades a 2060 to a 2070 Max-Q, a 144Hz Screen to a 240Hz screen, a 65Wh battery to 99.9Wh, a 512GB SSD to a 1TB SSD, and single-zone RGB lighting to per-key RGB lighting on the keyboard.
Overall, immediately blown away with the GS66. Any cons are very minor and easy to get adjusted to in my opinion. Between this and the Blade 15, the GS66 is a clear winner.

Nice upgrade from the gs65 from build quality to hardware. This machine is spec’d high enough to handle most games with little issues. Can get warm so I would recommend undervolting. There are guides out there to optimize the gs66 2020 model which makes it a quiet and thermally efficient machine... especially for its size and weight. BEST battery on the market. I’ve tested several laptops in this class and this is definitely the standout. If you want a mobile gaming thin and light that you can dock and still game. Get this laptop.
