Literally a few hours and its running noticeably hot and loud (still setting things up).

This is possibly the worst laptop I've ever had the misfortune of purchasing. The laptop is about 4 months old. I wanted to give this company the benefit of the doubt even after reading so many negative Reddit reviews. The reviews are correct. Don't become jaded like me; avoid this laptop and company (MSI) at all costs. (1) "20-hour Battery Life" is a blatant lie and a disgusting example of false advertisement. From day 1, with minimal settings (lowest brightness, WIFI+Bluetooth off, Battery Saver mode on) and minimal usage (online browsing and Word docs) the battery lasted about 7-8 hours. Within just 4 months, again with minimal settings, the battery life reduced drastically to about 3 hours. I am constantly charging this piece of junk. (2) The charger/charging port stopped working within 2 months. The craftsmanship put into this device and its peripherals is so shoddy that the adapter (or charging port) just flat-out stopped working normally. I found out that I have to contort the tip of the charging cable and lean it against a solid surface (wall, heavy textbook) to apply constant pressure in order to charge. This is ridiculous and has resulted in so many embarrassing situations in my place of work. *Note that I am very delicate with my devices; I make sure wires don't contort unnaturally and that the laptop is always cushioned in a protective pouch. I have never dropped or damaged this laptop in any way. (3) If you'd like 3rd degree burns, purchase this laptop. It doesn't matter whether you're charging or running on battery, or whether battery saver mode is on. It doesn't matter if you only work in air-conditioned rooms or use a laptop cooler. The laptop always runs hot, to the point where you could cook an egg on the portion above the keyboard. I'm scared one day this thing will start smoking. (4) Loud whining noises. Occasionally this laptop will make these dramatic whining/ringing noises, as if it's going to blow up. Expect people to stare. (5) I don't use the speakers often, but when I do, the experience is subpar. My phone is about twice as loud and has much better sound quality. Expect to use headphones or watch silent movies. (6) Fingerprint magnet + more shoddiness. Expect to clean the touchpad every day. The material cannot stand up to natural skin oils. In addition, the small rubber feet on the bottom randomly fell off at some point.
