One of the, if not the best of the unplugged albums.

The "MTV Unplugged in New York" CD is the best performance of Nirvana, bar none. That raw and raucous and untamed energy they often had in their live shows is not present here. This is the band stripped down to just the music, with very little theatrics or drama. You won't get the visceral thrills of Kurt Cobain screaming or the guitars squealing in disharmony, but you do get some of the best songs ever performed by Nirvana before Kurt Cobain's suicide.

Good music but terrible volume balance

The songs play fine, but the 30-40 seconds between tracks where the band interacts with the crowd is barely audible. Have to turn up the volume loud just to hear it, then quickly turn it back down once they start playing again. Didn't have this problem with the Pearl Jam Unplugged CD. Just seems like this one wasn't mastered all that well. Good enough for Nirvana fans though.

Beautiful acoustic sounds from Nirvana. Their hits sound as good, it not better, this way.

What can I say, it is a classic of an era that brought us some of the best music in the last 30 years, after the ninety's things have gone downhill unfortunately.
I feel the whole"unplugged" thingy started with this record, still enjoy it today as much as I did then.
If you want to "feel" Cobain, this is a good one.

Making an "unplugged" album was in vogue in the 1990's and MTV made sure to record Nirvana in their prime. Kirk Cobain's vocals are powerful and even haunting as he sings both his songs as well as other artists' songs, such as David Bowie. If you are a grunge fan or a Nirvana fan this is a MUST HAVE album.

I have always felt this was the capstone of Nirvana's career and that the way it was scripted was a living memorial to Kurt Cobain as he must have been aware he was on a downward spiral and would pass away soon. This CD brings back both the good memories of enjoying Nirvana in High School as well as the sadness of a life cut way too short.

Awesome CD. This is a must-have for any Nirvana fan. The best unplugged session of the entire MTV series. Great from start to finish. Nirvana's cover of Bowie's "The Man Who Sold the World" is even better than the original.

One of the best live recordings, ever! Classic unplugged album that has, and will continue to stand, the test of time! Album consists of 14 tracks: 7 originals and 7 covers. It was like they knew this was going to be their farewell album. Really, really beautiful!

Still one of the greatest live albums ever. Very haunting sound that Nirvana gave us for this record. "Something in the Way," "Man Who Sold the World," and "Where Did You Sleep Last Night" are the highlights for me.

Anyone Who knows anything about Kurt Cobain knows that intimacy was something almost unheard of. This shows both the vulnerabilities and the strengths of one of the greatest Seattle rock bands ever

MTV Unplugged was the best. To bad MTV doesn't have this show anymore. The only way to enjoy this stuff is to purchase DVDs of this history...

This is my favorite Nirvana album, it's more mellow than some of their other albums, but it really shows off all the character in Kurt Cobain'S voice. If your an acoustic fan this is for you.

This a good collection of Nirvana songs. Usually I don't like live performances, but the sound quality is excellent and doesn't have much crowd noise until the song is finished.
