One of the best basketball games I've played, and I go back to Bird vs Dr.J. The game isn't with out some flaws, but nothing in life is perfect.
Game play- very good, run plays, set screens, hit 3's, block shots and dunk - its all in there, and done well. Some issues with collisions and movement animations (a lot of "and 1" shots go in# but overall very good basketball actions.
Modes- You have the My Player, create your own player to be drafted, play games, give post game interviews and become a star, Association - run your own franchise, NBA Today which does the day to day real NBA games, online play #yes full of glitchers and cheats like any game) and Legands, where you can re-play lengendary matchups. Nice touch that older player games, 60's-80's have the old feel broadcast, like black and white, limited graffics, short shorts. Also with this version it has the NBA Legands Showdown, which cost $10 to down load. Its a cell shaded game mode with more of a street ball feel. Nice to have for free.
Sound- The announcers have a lot to say the first year, like referencing last year's season and things that would be relevent to 2012 announcing, it does loose it after you play other seasons, like in My Player mode. Soon you will tire of Clark Kellogs reference to food - yes food- every game and Steve Kerr's enjoyment of groove, but its a decent than most games. They have all the annoying sounds from NBA games, Knicks games sound like they are at MSG, and they have a decent line up for the game menu music. Some times, like other 2k sports games, the sound gets choppy durring load screens.
Graphics- Look sharp. Players look like the real players. Unfortunately as the game modes progress, My Player and Association, the new players they introduce, look very similar to each other and not much variation. Arena's look good, some coloring issues with the courts, but nothing too bad.
Bad Stuff- The game isn't perfect and gets a little annoying. Big issue with My Player, after the first year the draft order stays the same - alphabetical. So every year the 76'ers have the first choice overall. Gets a liitle weak by year 4. Tradeing issues- before a patch, trades would occur crazy, after the patch hardly any. Some people will complain about cheesy online players- bu that is online play. Others will complain about some game play issues, I haven't noticed enough to complain. The game isn't perfect, but its pretty close.
Overal good game, I would give it a 4.5 out of 5.
I would recommend this to a friend
