Had roomba first, thought it was good but when it died I bought a Neato XV11. Had it for over 5 years when it died my wife demanded a replacement. Botvac connected is the best robot vacuum cleaner. Doesn't bump into everything. Cleans the whole house and tells you when done. Shows a map of what was cleaned. Nice uniform carpet lines. You can schedule the robot to clean when nobody is home. I tell all my friends this is the robot vacuum cleaner to get.

The Neeto Botavac Connected is very efficient for small multi-room homes. We have two inside dogs, and the vacuum does a good job picking up the dog hair. AT the sales price, we believe this vacuum is a bargain.

Great for a studio / 1 bedroom apartment

I picked this up for my 1 bedroom apartment, and this thing is by far the best purchase of the move. I also purchased a 2 year warranty through Best Buy which is always a smart move with tech hardware just in case something goes wrong or if in a year and a half its not as "vibrant" as it once was you can get a replacement or upgrade to the latest model. It cost and extra $70 in store for this product
-Does it pick up everything?
I have a dog that sheds a lot and the occasional dirty shoe/paw walking in, but this vacuum handles every bit of it. With the included app for the connected version, I can easily set schedules, drive it around the apartment manually, and shut it off if the timing is bad - and its all easy to set up if you follow directions. It seems to get all the corners, but occasionally if things are really bad it may require a second pass which is as easy as pushing one to two buttons on your phone or directly on the botvac. While running the bot once a day every day since initial move in (1 and 1/2 months), I only have to empty the collection bin every 3 or so days which is a perfectly fine trade-off for me. It sends me a message on my phone to let me know if the bag is full and when it is done vacuuming. It is able to clean the living room, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, and walking closet of a 600 square foot apartment in less than 20 minutes. As a person used to seeing dog hair everywhere, I haven't seen any hair except whats in the collection bin and what inevitably attaches to my clothes :)
-Does it get stuck?
I have had it get hung up on a phone charger wire and a rope toy for my dog, but have managed easy solutions for both. I placed the wire in a better spot and my dog didn't like that toy anyway so I tossed it. If it was a bigger rope toy with less fray it wouldn't have been a problem. I also get a message on my phone if it gets stuck as well as it powers its vacuum down until cleared to not damage anything and beeps occasionally to help you find it. I would say that you need to give the base station a good 6-12 inches of clearance on each side so that it can smoothly return to its dock. It needs room to spin around freely and back up so corners are not good spots to put it. I placed mine under a bench-like couch with ample clearance to save space, visual appeal, and insure enough room to easily dock (and so no one steals my new prize possession haha). Overall this thing does a really good job of steering around obstacles and is gentle enough on furniture that I am not worried about damage.
-Is the "Connected" app worth the extra?
Oh yeah, it's easy to set up by connecting to a wifi network and then pairing with your phone. You can then access your vacuum from anywhere with cell reception. You can receive messages to let you know the status of the vacuum, manually drive the vacuum if the need arises, tell it to full house clean or spot clean, and pretty much have full control over this machine.
-My Comparison Research
Compared to other robot vacuums currently on the market (9/9/16) I would say this is the most appealing. It is the expensive model from Neato, but I feel the investment and time saved are absolutely worth it if you have a semi open floor plan or a small living space. The path the machine takes while vacuuming is a major factor for me. This vacuum maps out the entire perimeter and then vacuums the middle of that perimeter in about as straight of a line as you can get. Other vacuums like the Roomba are more "zig-zaggy", and if you have carpet it really shows some wild vacuum lines. The speed and quality of vacuuming is also important, and with a more powerful suction and a better "lap time" thanks to its smarter routing, Neato Botvac Connected is hands down the best bang for the buck.

I have a German Shepherd dog who sheds A LOT and leaves my house covered in hair everywhere!!! I was vacuuming 2 to 3 times a day and seemed to never win the battle of hair. After getting the neato my floor is cleaner than it has ever been. It sucks up the dust, dirt, and hair better than the vacuum I was using before. The best part is I don't have to do this 3 times a day and my 9 month old baby can crawl around on a clean floor! Love it!

I've never had robot vacuum before, so I have no benchmark. The vacuum seems to work well. We have a pretty full bin at the end of a cycle. I was not prepared for the noise of the unit. It's not the vacuum noise, but the noise from the drive system. As the unit moves over our hardwood floors, I hear a consistent and loud plastic squeaking, creaking and popping. The only other issue I've found i that the unit does not return to charge on its own when the battery is low. I have to direct it using the app..

Hi, the noise you describe your vacuum making is not normal (and neither is it normal for the vacuum to fail to return to base on its own). We'd like to connect you with customer support about this. Please email us at [email protected].

We love the way it cleans. We have 3 dogs and a cat, BB-5 (we named him) collects the hair and dirt from all the corners and cleans our hardwood floor amazingly. It's easy to use. If you read the instructions, setup is a breeze. Most convenient and easy to use vacuum we have owned!

The neato is an amazing product that is smart, quick and effective. There have been a couple problems where the iOS app doesn’t send notifications to my phone, but that has resolved itself (weird). Additionally the glossy body shows scratches way too easily.

This is one of the best products if you have the money to spend! Dont go for the Roomba unless you are more of "BRAND" person. This vaccum does and excellent job of cleaning. its wifi capabilties are very good. you can schedule or run it from anywhere outside the house(u dnt have to be on the same network) I did compare the neato and roomba and I can definitely say neato is better than roomba (connected vs 960/980). did not compare the samsung and dyson because they are just too big and overpriced. both the vaccums have some problem while finding their charging stations once the battery drains.

This product replaced a clueless Roomba. The Neato is very intelligent, scanning the path it wants to take and cleaning extremely close to the walls. We run it nightly and it picks up an impressive amount of pet hair, dust, and random particles. Considering we run it nightly it still picks up so much dirt that it's almost questionable as to where it all comes from... but it is a relief to see it all in the Neato's bin. Then to know the air was forced through a HEPA filter is a plus. Battery life is terrific. Suction is great. Can get out of corners especially well. Never gets stuck... ever. Unlike the first Neato we had. Every now and then we will leave a bib or sock on the floor and.. we'll.. that's our fault and not the vacuums.. in which case it'll stop. Love this thing. We don't really use the wifi feature because we're always home. However, for our condo at a getaway, we use he wifi to run the thing occasionally like before a visit after an extended time away.

I purchased my Neato Botvac Connected a little over a month ago and love it! I originally set it up to run 4 days a week cleaning the 1st floor of our home, but now will be running 2 days a week until I get a new filter (scheduling the days of week and what time is awesome!).
It has two settings: One full power and the other Eco. Eco doesn't pick up as much, but isn't really any quieter than the full power setting. It is quieter than a regular vacuum, but I wouldn't say it is quiet. I work from home and don't have issues doing my work while it runs throughout the house, probably because I'm not physically doing it! The first few weeks it was nearly full every day it ran (we have a cat and picked up a lot of cat hair every time it cleaned, and our cat was not supposed to shed much fur!), but the last few weeks it has picked up less (I attribute it to the filter needing to be changed).
The "Connected" part of the botvac really isn't all that great. It never recognizes my botvac if it has been unused for a few hours. So if I was away from home and wanted to start it up, it likely wouldn't work. However, I don't see myself doing that anyway because there are certain areas it tends to get "stuck". For example, an area in our bathroom is just wide enough for the botvac to go in, but it tries to turn to get out instead of backing straight out. Eventually, it will beep and shut down until you can "unblock it's path". I usually shut the bathroom door unless it really needs to be cleaned (rarely used).
The filter is the only thing that has caused challenges. The Neato Botvac website indicates several stores to purchase accessories such as filters, however, I cannot find the ultra high performance filters locally (like the one that came with my botvac). I purchased the botvac at Best Buy and they told me they couldn't even purchase the filters for me to have in the stores. The price of the ultra high performance filters is also extremely outrageous ($29.99 for 2) and they suggest changing it out every 2 months. The only place I could find them for less was on Amazon, being shipped from China. I did speak to the Neato company and they indicated the Connected botvac is new and that is why filters are not yet available in stores. The high performance filters come in 6-packs for $49.99, but the ultra performance filters only come in 2 packs. They also indicated filters should be in my local stores by the end of the year (Raleigh, NC), but this was a bit frustrating and along with the price of the filters and limited connectivity, the reasons I gave the botvac a rating of a 4. It would be really nice if there was an option on the botvac to make it dock itself. Maybe a software upgrade.
