Okay, first things first - remember when we all thought we'd be driving flying cars by now, and our homes would be run by witty, self-aware AIs that are just a little bit sarcastic? Well, we may not be zipping around in hovercars just yet, but Google Nest Hub has us halfway to living like the Jetsons! The Google Nest Hub is like that all-knowing friend we all have - you know the one. The one who remembers birthdays when everyone else forgets, the one who can whip up a recipe on demand when you're clueless in the kitchen, and the one who you can rely on for your daily dose of news (without the unsolicited opinions). The screen is 7 inches - you know what they say, good things come in small packages, and this package promises to be your lifeline, so that's pretty good! And the sound? Let's just say that with the kind of audio clarity this baby boasts, you'll be hearing Despacito's lyrics in a whole new light. Perhaps one of my favorite features of the Google Nest Hub is its smart home control capabilities. It's like the conductor of your smart home symphony, unifying everything into a beautiful, seamless performance. Goodbye are the days of walking around the house, switching off lights, and adjusting thermostats. Now, you just ask your Google Nest Hub, and it's done. This gadget is so good at running your house; you'll start feeling guilty about not paying it a salary. Oh, and can we talk about the photos? Your memories are displayed on the crisp screen, making it a digital photo frame as well. But don't worry, it won't randomly show that embarrassing picture from last Christmas. Unless, of course, you want it to. The control is in your hands! And don't even get me started on the sleep sensing. This smart device could moonlight as a sleep guru. Forget counting sheep; let Google Nest Hub lull you to sleep with soothing sounds and monitor your rest throughout the night. If you're worried about privacy - fret not. The Google Nest Hub comes with a switch that physically disconnects the microphone. So, you can rest easy knowing that Google isn't listening to your passionate shower concerts. In conclusion, Google Nest Hub is like the friendly robot butler we all secretly desire - only less likely to become sentient and take over the world. So, if you're looking to dip your toes into the world of smart homes or are a seasoned techie, Google Nest Hub is your ticket to a simpler, more connected lifestyle. It’s a smart home device that’s actually smart! Now, if only it could do the laundry...

I have been using mostly amazon devices to control my home and ask questions. I also have the first version of the google 7inch home hub. I have found that google just works better. Every time I ask Alexa a question or turn on lights it does the task then keeps talking about random things. For example Alexa turn on the lights, okay lights turned on and did you know that XYZ is now on sale at amazon. This is frustrating as I don't need the extra BS just do the task and be done. With using Google it does the task and that's it. I don't get extra BS or sales tactics. With google I can also set my default music streaming service so it will play music from that streaming service that I already pay for. With Amazon I ask it to play music and it goes directly to amazon music, but if the song is not a free one it will set you up for their music unlimited service for a monthly fee. I have noticed this fee a few times on my bill and figured its time to get rid of amazon Alexa. I really like the size of the display and that I can watch hulu, youtube, youtube tv, etc. I have this in my kitchen to use those services or to ask it recipe questions. I really like having the display and having google show information when I ask questions. When the display is not in use you can have it display a clock or a photo slide show. Another nice setting for the google hub, you can select your music streaming service and which speaker should play the music. I have a JBL speaker with google built in, so when I ask this HUB to play music it will route the music to that speaker instead of the built in home hub speakers.

The Google Nest Hub 2nd Gen is a very helpful device. Setup is easy, and it is very compact, not using a lot of space on my nightstand. My only addition would have been the camera with the closable lens like some of their other gear. The sleep sensor works surprisingly well. Maybe too well, as I noticed that it tracked one night when my cat went to bed before I did. I would prefer that it had a more precise time legend, as then I might be able to track down exactly what time something is waking me up. I am also disappointed that they are talking about charging for the sleep sensing, as that was a major selling point for this model. The speakers are very good quality for the price-point, and being able to connect it with my Google home to control accessories and make broadcasts to the rest of the house makes life so much easier. All in all a great addition to my growing "Smart Home".

I bought this hub for my daughter, who is a travel nurse. She can use it to display a clock or to show a slide show of family pictures. She was able to set it up under our Google Home account so she has access to the same pictures we have on ours at home. It doesn't have a camera though. I had one of the original versions and I thought it had had a camera. Otherwise I may have bought her the more expensive Max version since the plan was for her to be able to use it for video chats. It is worth the price and since it can be a clock or show any picture, it can blend in as part of the decor. The rose gold color is a nice option.

The Nest Hub is a smart device with an average build quality, but its performance is outstanding. Despite its somewhat ordinary appearance, it excels in functionality. The seamless integration with various smart home devices is impressive. The Google Assistant is responsive and offers helpful information and assistance. The display quality is decent, and the touch controls are intuitive. While the physical design may not be exceptional, the Nest Hub delivers where it matters most, making it a worthwhile addition to any smart home setup.

The sound quality and the screen are great, but the lack of a web browser for displaying recipes or the ability to use the search function in YouTube kind of defeated the purpose of buying this for the kitchen. Eh, it’s fine.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us, THOMASL. We hear your concern that the Nest Hub (2nd Gen) may not have been the best fit for you. You can cast from Google Cast-enabled apps to your display — here’s how:

      1. Make sure your mobile device or tablet is connected to the same Wi-Fi network or linked to the same account as your speaker or display.
      2. Open a Google Cast-enabled app.
      3. Tap the Cast icon.
      4. Tap the name of the speaker or display you'd like to cast to. When the speaker or display connects, it will play a chime.
      5. On your mobile device, start the desired content. It will play on your connected speaker or display.
      6. To stop casting, at the top of your mobile device, tap the Cast icon. Depending on your device and app, tap Stop casting, Disconnect, This phone, or This device.

I had an old Insignia works with Google alarm clock and the display finally gave out. I wanted to update my daily bedroom clock from just a display with Google assistant to a touchscreen. I found the Nest Hub 7" with Smart Display on sale at my local Best Buy. I played with the store display for a few minutes and decided that it would fit the bill. I got it home and over the next few days, I found out it was much more than just an alarm clock with Google assistant. I have it monitoring my sleep, which is awful, but it gives me insight on what I can do to make it better. I'm able to view my Google Camera in the garage from my bed should I hear a noise or just want to make sure the door is shut. I don't need to turn off the house alarm to check. I use it for the weather as I live at about 3300 ft above sea level, but have to travel over the Cajon Pass at 3700+ and then drop down to around 2000 on the other side. The weather at home, at the pass and what we call "down the hill" can differ quite a bit. It's also great to answer those stupid questions that pop in my head as I try to fall asleep. Lastly, I now ask it to play "Delta music" to help me fall asleep. So far, I've had good success with that and with my YouTube Premium subscription, the hub plays it without interruption via YouTube Music. I'm sure I'll figure out more uses as I add devices to my home. Next up is a smart thermostat. I was going to buy the Lux one, but I missed the sale. I'll catch it next time should it go really low again or I'll grab one of the refurbished Nest ones.

I recently purchased the Google Nest Hub (2nd generation) and I must say that it has exceeded all my expectations. This smart device has quickly become an indispensable part of my daily life, giving me a smart and connected experience in my home. The integration of the Google Assistant in this device is exceptional. Voice recognition is highly accurate and the Assistant responds immediately to my commands. I can easily control my smart home devices, play music, set reminders, and even ask for recipes while I'm in the kitchen. The Assistant's ability to understand context and provide relevant information is truly impressive. The 7-inch screen is sharp and vibrant, making it a joy to view photos, videos, or browse the web. The touch screen responds quickly and accurately, allowing fluid navigation through menus and applications. I appreciate the Ambient EQ feature, which automatically adjusts the screen's brightness and color temperature to suit the lighting conditions in the room, providing a comfortable viewing experience throughout the day.

I will still give it a 5 star eventhough it has no camera. The reason i give 5 star is because of the price of it. It's really affordable and very convenient. The sound quality is excellent and the bass is awesome. It's perfect when you're listening to music such as pandora or spotify. It's very compact that you can put it on your side table. It's user friendly and you can link your other google device on this.

This was bought for my wife working at home. Her office is isolated so being connected to the rest of the house was important. She uses it to see who is at the front door and back door. It allows viewing of video for entertainment, podcasts for edutainment, and music. Coupled with other speakers in the house this fill the center of the home with full sound during music playback. For the price this is amazing what all it can do. I would give 5 stars but the lack of a camera for video chats is just lazy. Even if it was addable i would rate it perfect.

After having used the NestHub for over a year, I can say that is a solid device. The screen is nice and bright and large enough to navigate and ready text without any issues. Although sometimes there is a lag between changing tasks or switching screens. The music from the built-in speakers are loud and crisp. I just wished the UI was easier to navigate and more intuitive. Other than that, it is quite a wonderful device to view pictures and automate your home.

This was a gift for one of my children. They were looking for something with a display to replace their Google Home. From what I hear they are very happy with the Nest Smart Hub and have it connected to heir other google smart home devices. I also own one and have also been very happy with it. It controls other smart home devices mad by other manufacturers. Very easy to set up and interface with my devices.
