Just installed this yesterday and it took less than 30 min. Absolutely love it! So easy to use and hook up to my iPhone and google system. Still figuring out features like privacy mode but it’s already proving to be such a great decision. I set pins for my siblings that visit often and will be setting one for my contractor, cleaners and dog walker. In the past, it was such a challenge coordinating keys with those that needed access. The app lets you keep track of who comes and goes under their pin, which I like a lot. I’m going to set up my hello nest system next so I can’t wait to use that alongside this. The polished brass is a bit too plastic looking for my liking and I’m afraid of it not holding up forever, but time will only tell. In the meantime, I’m very happy with this purchase!

First off let me say I got this to replace my aging Kevo lock that had become such a problem to use that I entered through my garage just so I wouldn't have to mess with it. That being said going from the Kevo to this system is like going from a Ford Pinto to a Lamborghini. The packaging is very well done and I had no problems finding all the parts that I needed to install the lock. Also the instructions were very easy to read and understand. The first thing I did was install the app on my Android phone (I have a Note 8) and then activate the Nest Connect to my WiFi network. This was fairly simple and straightforward process. You have to create a Nest account and then once you do that you just simply use the app to set it up by following the instructions on your phone. Next came the actual instillation of the lock. This again is pretty straightforward. I did have an issue w/ extending my deadbolt to the longer 2 3/4 length. So I made my first call to tech support. I left my phone number on the automated system for them to call me back and received a callback in less than 5 minutes. My problem was that the actual deadbolt was sticking out about a 1/4 inch and wouldn't retract. The rep was extremely helpful and gave me the high tech advice to essentially smack the dead bolt against the ground to get it to retract all the way. This worked and I could then properly extend my deadbolt latch to the required 2 3/4 length. I had no further difficulties installing the deadbolt and was able to get it done in about 30-45 minutes (give or take). Then came connecting the lock to the Nest Connect. This was all done through the app. I decide to place my Nest Connect in the hallway directly across from my front door maybe 15' away and direct line of sight. For some reason these two devices would not talk to each other or connect. I spent probably another 15-20 minutes trying to get it to work before I made my second call to customer service. Again I left my phone number and recieved a callback in less than 5 minutes. They then proceeded to transfer me to the proper department. While I was waiting for them to pick up, I had the brilliant idea to move the Nest Connect closer to the lock and while technically in another room it was within 5-10' of the lock. Well it all connected with little to no effort at all. I hung up and they actually called me back in a couple minutes. They apologized for getting disconnected at which time I explained to them that I actually had gotten it to work and had been the one to hang up. Again I can't say enough good things about their customer support. Finally came the part where I added people to the account. First I added my wife. This was done by sending her an invite so she could have full access. This sent her an email in which she had to create her own account through Nest. This took a couple attempts to get her all set up however this was through no fault of Nest as my wife kept changing what email account she wanted to use. Once she was set up everything worked great. I also gave my two kids access codes which they got to choose themselves. They didn't need an invitation since I didn't give them full access. Setting them up required me to go to the Family & Guests section on my app. Clicking on Add a person, entering their name, and select Home entry only. This gave them a passcode that I was able to customize. It also allowed me determine when they had access and when it would expire. Very simple setup. I was even able to add their pictures to their profile. I proceeded to test the lock using my app. I walked out of the house and stood in my driveway. I then attempted to lock and unlock my door from about 50' away. For some reason I received an error message and it would not work. So I connected to my WiFi and tried again. This time it worked with no problem. This seemed problematic to me as I was under the impression I was able to lock and unlock the device from anywhere using my phone. I went inside and looked over some things then decided to try again. I turned off my WiFi on my phone and this time stood at the end of my driveway. This time it worked perfectly with no issues. The only real problem I have with this lock so far is it doesn't integrate with my Xfinity home security system or Google Home. This is a feature that I believe is coming to both systems though and look forward to this feature As far as whether I would recommend this system to anyone. This is a resounding yes. The setup is straightforward if not a little problematic. The customer support is top notch and they have YouTube tutorials for reference too. The app while it had it's initial problems has since worked flawlessly for me. The lock itself is gorgeous and very easy to use.

This lock have no traditional key, which get rid if a extra stuff we need to carry when outdoor. Also it can integrate with Google Assistants and Alexa, which is convenient, I can using voice commands to manipulate the lock, although it doesn’t allow unlock the door by voice because if security reasons. Pretty easy to install and have lots of features, you can assign one time key access to someone like delivery guys or friends. And it can setup auto lock based on you are home or not.

Best Smart Lock ever! Was really easy to install into existing deadbolt space. Connecting to the Nest device simple. Set up codes for us, our family, and temporary codes for a contractor. I get a push notice every time the door is locked/unlocked, and tells me whose code was used. Left through the garage the other day and I got a notice that nobody appeared to be home and the door is unlocked, would you like it to lock? We have homes on both coasts so if somebody wants to borrow our CT condo when we are away, we just set up a temp code for them. Haven't used a key in 3 years.

The smart lock replaced a current deadbolt. Strongly recommend you read and follow the directions for the installation. Works great with the Nest app. At the current time it does not work with Alexa my Nest Thermostat does so hopefully down the line the lock will also work with Alexa

I love this Smart Lock ! We installed it to our new house that we moved in and it is so convenient when you step out for a second. Of course you need to do both by locking the door and using the smart lock code to double lock your door but if you are just stepping out to walk your dog and stuff, you do not want to hassle by having a key in your hand. But just by entering your code, it is so simple and safe!

I have a Nest Thermostat with temperature sensors, Outdoor Cameras, Nest Hello. They are all excellent additions to add to your home! I love how I don’t have to fumble with the keys when I have groceries! I had to modify the hole in the lock plate on my house, so the Nest X Yale lock would lock and not jam. Other than that it was an easy installation! Highly recommend this lock and everything integrates with ONE app!!!!

I was between the Nest Yale Lock and the August Lock and since I already own the Nest Hello and Nest Thermostat it made sense for me to get the Nest Yale Lock. What I like most about this product is how it looks and functions. You can turn off the use of the outside keypad at anytime, assign temprorary codes to anyone and/or the code work only during certain times. It looks sleek, modern and works the way it is supposed to. I had to remove it 3 times to get the installation right, it had nothing to do with the Nest Yale Lock, it had to do with my door and having to try to align the deadbolt with the existing hole, but once done it was up and running in no time. I wish there was more that you can do with the integration of other Nest/Google products such as having the option to unlock from Nest Hello when you go to answer a person at the front door, instead you have to switch over to the Nest Lock and then swith back to the Nest Hello if you want to continue to talk to the person at the door, this should be an easy fix with a software update. It is pricy, but it is one of the best, I am surprised that there is no second generation of this lock and I guess if it ain't broke then don't fix it.

I debated this lock after people said it was hard to install but I’m glad I went with it. I’ve never installed or uninstalled a deadbolt but I figured it out relatively easily. The instructions are good and the process was pretty quick. The app sometimes has trouble but not sure if that’s due to the product or my WiFi. Overall I definitely recommend!

Hands down to Nest. Together with Yale they created a fantastic product - the Nest x Yale Smart Lock. I love this product. It works well. Took me 15 mins to install. Wow! Easy to use. My cats love it. When the door opens with the app on my phone they know mommy is home. Keep up the great work Nest. I am waiting for your next product..maybe smart light switch

This lock gives me a great deal of peace of mind. I have set up different codes for family members & a couple of neighbors. Now they have access to our home when we are away and we can also monitor who is entering our home and when. We can also make sure the door is locked when we are away & unlock it remotely when that’s convenient.

Okay, yes I love the smart lock, its look and feel. I have installed this unit on the doors that I can install it on. However you do have to know that it doesn't fit all doors, so this is a uniformed solution if you want the same style of lock on all doors. Now the BUST in my bubble is there is no KEY slot. I can live with this flaw but if you have only 1 lock then you are setting yourself up for failure. Locks do stick, batteries do die. You need to always have a backup key to enter your house just incase this unit fails. But still, I have many doors, and options to get into my house should one stick or die.

While it took two BB fellas to connect it on two different dates, now that we have it working as intended we love it. Ability to use your phone to lock and unlock from anywhere is great and ability to automatically lock it upon closing door is very helpful.

Installation was straight forward. Minor modification needed for proper fitment on door with an old deadbolt. Matches my new door knob assembly perfectly. Would recommend this for people who want peace of mind when worried if they forgot to lock the deadbolt

I’ve been very hesitant to add a smart lock to my front door. We already have the full suite of Nest products in our house, so the Yale lock was the obvious choice. I’ll tell you, it works perfectly and seamlessly with my Nest whole house system. I installed it in about 15-20 minutes. I only had one easy to fix issue. The template told me I needed to have one setting for the deadbolt, but actually it only worked with the factory setting. So I had to change it back to original from what the template recommended. The WiFi extender that was included was simple to set up. I can now lock/unlock my door from my phone Nest app. I also get notifications when my door is locked/unlocked and who’s code was used. The one and only issue I’m continually baffled by is why the speaker for the automated voice is on the outside? I can barely hear it from the inside where I’m at.

Love this thing! Makes walking the dogs so much easier now that we don't have to carry our keys. I will say that I do wipe it almost after every use casue you can see your fingerprints on the buttons.

I had it installed this over the weekend and I am happy to say that this product screams quality and craftsmanship. Nest ecosystem is great and this is very easy to setup. Highly recommended!!!
