Good product. Horrible experience

The product itself works fine. It was just horrible because for some reason this router was already linked with another account despite being brand new and we had to be on the phone with Netgear for 3 hours trying to figure it out, sending them proof of purchase and having a technician come over to see what the problem was (ie with our building cables or internet modem).

I have 9 network routers around my home neighborhood and an unknown number of wireless devices. This router allows all devices to connect to it so it can learn the device MAC addresses, and then I can create a table to block the devices....I do not have time to keep checking my router to block every device in the neighborhood, or the people walking past the house, or driving by.
Not practical.

Netgear AC1200 - Junk for an update

I updated my old 300 Netgear for this AC1200 on the advice of a store associative. This is Not what I had intended to purchase. Never again listening to a store clerk after I have read reviews about a product! If i had stuck with buying the Netgear Nighthawk, I believe I would have been so much better off. My internet browers speed are worse than better and it hasn't been able to connect with my printer only once since I had it. A piece of junk!

Constantly Dropped Internet

2 to 3 times a day internet connection would be lost (wired and wireless). Found some troubleshooting suggestions and found that the device was losing DNS mapping. If i simply disconnected and reconnected the Ethernet cable between the modem and router (both Netgear) the issue would be resolved... For a few hours. Returned both Netgear devices and purchased a better solution for only $10 more. Connection has been solid for weeks!

It worked great up to the point where I tried to run streaming video. I could not get Amazon Prime or Netflix to work with this. Neither wireless nor wired connection would work. Netgear website provided no phone number to call for support. I wasted several days trying to get it to work. Went to Office Max & got a TP-LINK AC 1900 & it works like a champ. Netgear really dropped the ball on this one.

There doesn't need to be an app for everything

I bought this wanting to extend my existing network and based on the supposed easy setup. The requirement to download the app, create a Netgear account, connect to the wifi signal that the router emits in order to compete a basic setup, THEN login on a computer to do a more in depth setup made this router one that I would never want to purchase again and why I returned it.

Bought it for 89$ thinking it's gonna be the best. My mom's 3 year old netgear works faster and better than this. Would I recommend? No.

My older Net Guard was defected so I returned it and up graded to this model. After installation I had to register the new router. Very hard process. I talked to Net Gear twice looking for help. They tried but had me contact my service provider. After 3 hours either on the phone or waiting for help, the Net Guard rep told me that the router was defected. Very frustrating experience.

I researched these online and the one I wanted, my Best Buy didn't carry it so I chose the next best thing. I got it home and it didn't seem to work for me so I had my security guy look at it and it didn't work for him so I tried to take it back to Best Buy but well guess what I was out of my 14 day return policy! On a broke product, so I am stuck with a broke router! Thanks Best Buy

After several hours on the phone with a tech from NetGear, I was told to return it for another one. After returning it, I proceeded to try to get the new router to connect to my Cablevision system with a cablevision modem. Same results, it just would not sync. I went back to Cablevision and exchanged my original burnt out one of theirs and got a new one which connected immediately.
