Nice features but not Reliable signal

The signal is not reliable if your device is not close to it. Was not able to reach my roku device. The app has nice features on how you can manage your network and its devices that connects to the router. I returned it for the linksys ea6400. Hopefully the higher price brings better reliability. Don't get me wrong if you can get a signal then this thing has blazing fast speed.

Easy install, not sure about speed yet

I was looking for a new router with wider range for my 1400 square foot home, hoping to keep a connection from one end of the house to the other. So far I'm really liking the dual band aspect of this router and also the easy install, however I have noticed the loading time, especially on the 250 channel seems to be significantly slower. So maybe sacrificing some speed for the sake of splitting connections and gaining distance.

It works OK as access point

I purchased it because it's $60 from local BB store. Basically I want an access point to replace one is no longer working. Configuration is OK and I set it up successfully as access point. Antenna is not removable USB2.0 not 3.0 Gigabit LAN port (make sure you connect to LAN port if you use it as AP) You can use it as repeater (extender). Wi-Fi 5GHz works as it's supposed to, but the signal is a bit inaccurate.

Ok but not with security devices

I got this router to replace spectrum $5 a month router. The signal strength is great inside the house. But if you want to connect wirelless security camera devices and your house has stucco then I would not recommend this device. The spectrum router was better.

    Horrible Set Up. Good Product

The ONLY way to setup the device was with an app. We downloaded the app BOTH on an iPhone and on an Android latest model and NEITHER WORKED AT ALL. The Network Genie provided was so small that it could not be read and COULD NOT BE RESIZED. The internet documented this was a well known bug PRESENT EVER SINCE WINDOWS 10 was released and maybe longer. I simply connected the machine, went to the appropriate ip address http://www.routerlogin.net or http://192.168.1.1 and used the username and ridiculous password on the box. Everything went smoothly then. SO ALL THE USER FRIENDLY SOFTWARE FAILED. The classical approach worked fine. But the machine is very cheap and works beautifully after installed.

    good price, but still wary

I decided to give this AC router a try with the Black Friday sale. I was wary as this router seems to be new model. Why is BB still list USB as 3.0 when it's 2.0? For the first week, the wifi speed went up by 50% compare to my old netgear router which elated me. But, I started losing wifi connections to all my devices using either 2.4 or 5GHz. I restarted router and cable modem for a good measure yesterday, which seems to fix the issue, Now, same thing happen today. Wired ethernet connection to the router seems to work and restarting everything fixed it again. Let see what happens tomorrow. Yes, the firmware was updated to 1.0.0.16 during the router setup. I really don't want to be beta tester. This router will be going back to BB if this doesn't get better. Also, did anyone notice the wireless network "Region" is set to Japan? Bug? And, it's grayed out so you can't change it. I heard different regions have different wifi signal strength with the U.S. and Canada being highest.

    5GHZ was a joke

Bought this router to replace an ASUS router that I had used for years. Everything was great on 2.4GHZ. Very little loss of speed or signal through walls if any. My only issue was that I couldn't run more than one 5GHZ device at a time. Especially two XBOX One consoles. Tried reverting firmware and changing every setting possible on the router and my devices. I think I just had a defective device. Returned and ended up getting the Nighthawk R7000. No complaints so far. I don't want to discourage anyone from trying this router. For the price and the performance it's a good deal. I just think I had a defective unit.

I will be taking this back. My dlink 655 went out after several years of use so I got this. didnt use for gaming, but for streaming video from your computer it lags way to much. Thats not even HD. Product is way to big, and cheaply made.

I'm a techie person, not an expert by any means. I was told by representatives from my internet company told me an AC router can handle more and is better and faster and can handle the upper speeds. This router can do up to 9 devices wireless which is impressive. So far? I'm loving it, I have no complaints!

    NOT suitable for gaming

I got this router brand new, and on day 1, it had problems. When otherwise fine, every half an hour or so, the connection intermittently drops for few to several seconds. This is fine for most things, EXCEPT when it comes to gaming and stream. I couldn't even finish a dungeon on my online game with this router. And I KNOW it's the router's problem because I plugged my wire straight into the wall and experienced no such disconnects from my internet service... Returning this ASAP and hoping LINKSYS will solve this. Something about having wireless and LAN going at once maybe... Either way, BAD.

    Average wifi coverage

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I only bought this model because Netgear claims amazing wireless coverage and some tech review sites agreed on their own testing. I installed this router in a 2600 sq ft house with thick walls. The coverage is very weak in the rooms furthest away from the device. The all in one ARRIS device provided by Time Warner was only slightly weaker in signal strength in rooms furthest away. I'm not quite sure what device I'll exchange it with, but I do not recommend this for larger homes or places with thick walls. The setup software "Genie" is decent and easy to use. Essentially, there are other routers in the $50 range that do the same thing and provide wifi coverage that is just as good.

STAY AWAY FROM NETGEAR!!! -- ZERO STARS!!!!!!

of course bestbuy makes you select at least 1 star. I hate netgear, however, I found this at bestbuy for $60. unbeatable price, so i made an exception. The first thing I noticed is that the interface is designed for a 3 year old, and the interface is extremely slow to react. Router takes FOREVER to save changes and now six months into ownership it is dropping connectivity (wifi and Ethernet) every 5 minutes then i need to reboot again. i tried to reset it and it will not reset. held reset button for 60 secs, still won't reset. i've had same experience with my first netgear router. fool me once... i'm switching back to linksys and never looking back!

After getting help from a employee and learning we were limiting our wifi due to the type of router we had. We purchased this one and our wifi range has been impeccable. Our large two story house has access and every corner.

We bought this after changing Internet service from AT&T to Charter. Plugged in, linked devices and away we went. I can't speak to all the tech stuff. As long as it provides wireless service, I'm happy.

The router offers good coverage and the difference is in the software provided by the manufacturer to assist in the router configuration with the existing internal network.
