purchased based on an older NetGear Router that died. Box says for large house and directional. It is directional, and does not cover the area the old model did.

Major security flaw

I have purchased two of these Netgear routers over the past year. This weekend (12/9/2016) a major security flaw was made public with this and several other Netgear routers. CERT 582384 (Carnegie Mellon emergency response team) recommends that users discontinue use of the product (extremely unlikely for most users). This is about as bad as it gets from a security standpoint. Netgear has acknowledged the problem. I would hope that Best Buy would temporarily pull these products from the shelves, and then warn future purchasers that a software update is needed. I have used Netgear products with confidence in the past...not so much anymore.

This router was good, but not as powerful as described. I bought it because I needed more WiFi coverage in my 2 story house, hoping it would enable my loft TV to connect to my WiFi, but I was greatly disappointed.

I bought this router and only lasted two days with it, have lost signal every time. I had to reset the router all time the signal drops and still even had slow connection. Very bad router I ever experienced.

I bought this 3 years ago and initially it worked fine but now it's giving me problems. I had the Suddenlink guy out just yesterday to look at my equipment to see why I'm having connection issues and he says the router seems to be the problem. I am able to connect but it randomly goes out and will not reconnect no matter how many times I unplug and replug, reset and restart the equipment and my laptop. Now I'm looking for a new router 3 years after purchase when the last one I had lasted around 10 years.

Doesn't really do much better than my Netgear N600 router. I was expecting much better performance of my Dish Hopper feed but it hasn't changed.

Build quality is not great. Lots of hype but as easy or as powerful as other options for the money from better manufacture

Wireless coverage is poor. it works line of sight --no walls or anything else--about 50 ft. away. go further and you lose the signal.

This is at least my initial review of this NETGEAR Model R6250 ROUTER. Installed the router with ease, just follow the Genie when you are connected to your ISP. Registration of the product again very simple. I highly recommend this router if you are looking for a strong WiFi Signal, especially in a larger home. I have WiFi throughout our 2240 sq ft home with no problem! I hope this router continues to perform in the future like it does today I purchased the additional warranty offered by BB, reasonable priced for added reliability. There are many routers on the market for a lower price, but go ahead and spend the few extra dollars on this model, you won't be disappointed. The router has a very attractive look, and blends in with any home decor. You can even turn the WiFi off if desired with the touch of a button. Contrary to some reviews I read that this router will not work with Windows 10, I find it works perfectly well using the Windows 10 platform.
