This modem/router requires a gateway userid and password from your internet provider. We thought we had the right information to begin with but after taking one product back to the store and having the same problem with the second product, we recontacted our provider only to find they had given an incorrect userid. Once the system is set up, it is working fine. Even the Netgear product support didn't figure this out.

Product is initially easy to setup, just plug it in and follow the easy online setup. Century Link couldn't access the router because its not their supplied router, thus Netgear customer support was necessary. They were helpful it just took forever. All said product is good, but with technology, nothing is as easy as described sometimes.

A great price for the AC 1600 wireless router helped my decision in purchasing it. Much greater range than my older router, plus extremely simple to hook up. Great router!

I originally had an AT&T issued modem/router (Netgear) that constantly kicked my laptop off line and the only way to reconnect was to turn the router completely off, unplug it and start all over again. After talking to AT&T multiple times, given new routers to try with the same problems I finally talked to a young kid at Best Buy. He explained we had too many devices connected and the router would get confused. He suggested the AC1600 model over the more expensive model stating with AT&T there are some problems with the higher model connecting.
I brought the 1600 home & tried to set it up. Everything seemed to work except for my Samsung wireless extender which enables cell service where we are located. After contacting customer service, which the box says is free, I was told it would cost an additional $80 for them to help me. I was very unimpressed with customer service. After lots of googling help I was able to figure out what to change to make everything work.
So far connectivity is working, have only had to reboot once, compared to several times per day.

Third attempt for a wi-fi router. Others would not reach both floors of my 2 story home. This one did. It's got great range/strong signal. It was a bit more than the other models I tried first, but those other models failed where this one succeeded.

Last Netgear product got intermittent after 4 years of use so I tried another newer and one better model based on recommendation from a very helpful Best Buy associate in the store. So far all is good although it takes a few days and several reboots before routeen reboots of the NetGear device were no longer required for it to always have internet connectivity with the WEB.

This was so easy to set up! Just plug it in, and my devices all saw it immediately. Plus I love the creative name they came up with for the password. It's the little things.
A side note: make sure you have the right login information from your ISP because you can't access the internet without it. I took a long time figuring that out.

It is a load off my back to have this at home now. I always had to unplug and reset the old AT&T one just to use our chrome book and ipad, having to search and choose the network. That process is down 98%. It's dependable. Now I have my eye on the next one up Netgear modem/router. It's $50 more than this one, but might be worth it.

This is my third Netgear modem/router combo and it's been the best so far. The wireless range is excellent and it's been very stable. The DSL connection has been very stable with AT&T and has maintained good speeds. It was easy to set up and has the familiar, easy to use Netgear web interface.
Keep in mind that when you do the setup, it might not choose the correct settings for your DSL provider by choosing the provider from the pull down list. It's best to let it automatically detect the settings.
