Its much better than my old router but it does have some issue at least for me. I don't get the speeds that I used to, its always much lower. Despite being lower it does deliver quality content. Not sure it its my settings or something that I need to change on my site to make it work. Either way if you have a very old router this is defintly a router to check out for a possible upgrade.

I bought this as a replacement for the Apple Airport Extreme, which was about 5 years old and did not ever reach all corners of my 5K sq ft home. It was recommended by the Best Buy people as having good range. My initial impression was "cheap" because it was so lightweight compared to the Apple product. It was fairly easy to set up with the instructions. My family immediately complained to me that the WiFi signal was not as good as before. There is a room literally 15 feet away from the router that was not getting good signal. It previously got excellent signal with the Apple router. I spent 1.5 hours on the phone with NetGear trying to tweak the settings on the router to make it have better range. Their final recommendation was "get one of our extender products". So, with that information, I plugged my Apple router back in, and boxed up the NetGear router. Best Buy of course has an excellent return policy. The extender was about the same price as this router, and seemed to fix my problem. This router was a disappointment.

    Star Trek Size

This thing is bigger than the picture looks. Almost the size of a chrome notebook. Anything we purchased would be a huge step forward from the old wireless router. This one was on sale at the time I made a decision. It has 2 wireless signals for the house. We have a relatively small single story house. The connection is great around the house and even outside.

The router has been wonderful at my house. My last router keep restarting by itself randomly. Ever since we switch we have had no issues. There are 12 devices that are connected to the router simultaneously and with out a hiccup. My friends have also bought one after I had mine for a month.

    Excellent Router!

Fantastic router! I saw a drastic increase in my wifi speed after that. I plugged my computer in directly via ethernet after doing a speed test, I was only at about 80% the speed on wifi with this router compared to a direct connection. So that's pretty fantastic in my books!

    OK for Straight Network

This works fine IF you are setting it up as the only router on your network. The configuration is not straightforward if this is an access point downstream of your main internet router. I spent 2 hours on the phone with customer service, and never could get it straightened out. I did test it as the main router, and it's fine.

    JUNK

Not sure why all the good reviews. I have Time Warner 100 mbps internet. After six months with this routert was putting out 9 mbps over 5ghz AC wifi two feet from the unit. 2.4ghz was giving 6 mbps. If I hard wire into my Time Warner moden, I get 118 mbps. Yes I restarted everything several times. For the price, this modem should last for YEARS! Not MONTHS! Now I can't get my money back from BestBuy. I am out $130 bucks and stuck licking my wounds and buying a new router from a different brand! Thank GOD I didn't get the Nighthawk because then I would be out even more money. This router isn't worth 20 f*cking bucks.

This handles the multiple wireless devices in my home downstairs and upstairs without difficulty. I did need to call support during installation, the experience was ok, the rep was not easy to understand and had the personality of wet cardboard - hence the 4 star rating.

I had an older 801N series router with 6 devices attached. I could not maintain a connection when I was outside - about 40 feet away. The connection was slow too. This new router fixed these problems. It was easy to install; I did it myself.

    Not stable

Followed instructions to set up using the Nighthawk app. The app was unable to complete the mandatory firmware upgrade (hung repeatedly). Luckily I had an old device that has an RJ45 port so I was able to connect via ethernet. Once set up, it performed well UNTIL it didn't! After 8 hours the 5ghz connection disappears then randomly reappears after a few hours. Not willing to troubleshoot and manually switch channels on a brand new, smart device which is expensive because it supposedly does that for you.

Goes Down Like 1-Legged Ice Skater

I bought a higher end router to avoid problems. This thing is trash, and tech support doesn't actually know anything. The router runs fine for some period of time. A few weeks, a month and then it just doesn't move any data all of a sudden. Pull the power and reboot it then it works fine for an hour, a day, a week, a month, who knows. It will also work poorly instead of going down completely. Standing right next to the router and very little data throughput. Reboot the router and WOW it's blazing fast again. The only thing that changed was I rebooted it. I finally got into a router of power cycling the router in the mornings when I get up, then hoping it will last for 24 hours. Critique: 1. Tech support is terrible. All they know is update the firmware, reset to factory settings, then read you the manual. When something happens that is not in their script, they can't help you anymore and there is no L2 tech support without signing up for a contract. 2. Every router has a different app. I have one app for this router, and a whole different app for the NetGear EX 8000 extender. 3. App doesn't work for updating firmware. It would be great if you could just push a button and it updates the firmware, but it doesn't work. 4. NetGear has not patched known security vulnerabilities. So if you're a top executive, crypto millionaire, or have sensitive security issues this is not the router for you.
