We have had wifi problems since we bought it. A Time Warner tech suggested this new modem may be responsible. We have to check it out with an ethernet connection, but haven't had time or equipment to do it yet. Fortunately, I bought a warranty on this product and will probably be using it to get a new one.

    Doesn't work with Comcast system

If you have a home phone, this unit (and almost all others at B/B) wont replace the Comcast rental modem. The Comcast system brings phone, HSI, TV, etc all in on one coax from the wall and into their modem/router. Then the Comcast rental router has output for ethernet (computer) and the 2-wire jacks that carry their phone signal to your house phone wiring receptacle. This unit has the ethernet jack, but no phone jacks, so you can't hook your phones up. They know that at B/B, but why they don't tell you is beyond me! You can find a modem/router on Amazon and other sites that do have the required output jacks, but they're in the $200 range. Until I try Comcast service for a while, that's a bit of a gamble for me to take.

Paid over $100 for this router, about $20 cheaper following week. Goes out all the time. Cannot continuously function on laptop, phones, and/ or gaming. Bought to save on router rental from internet company but going back to rental, much better service!

I bought a lot of docsis 3.0 wireless modem, Motorola, zoom, both of them need to reboot sometime but the netgear 450 is working well so far... I love the flickering lights, that makes me comfortable because I can see the activities when you are online.... the wireless range is the same with the Motorola sbg6782... this is only 2.4ghz but I don't mind coz sometimes dual band make some connectivity slower....

Excellent router and modem combo! Saves a lot of space and does not have many wires exposed. Very quick and easy set up and works for Time Warner Cable internet.

This was purchased to save the monthly rental charge from my cable company. It works very well and I have improved wifi strength. My modem is located on a second floor office and I have excellent signal in my basement on the other corner of the house.

    Wireless Speeds Suck

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

So I pay for high speed internet at 75mbps download although I usually get higher (closer to 100). Using the wireless router, I only get 21mbps, while on my ethernet connection to my main PC I am currently getting 97mbps. I paid money and read reviews and specs to get the most stable and highest speed router that I could (without spending a fortune) and I thought this was the answer. Well clearly, this is not. It does not meet up to its promised standards with wireless routing capabilities. Considering I stream everything wirelessly... I am certifiably ticked off.

Save yourself the cash and do not buy any 2 in 1 router combo.... if you play the game World of Warcraft !!! I now have a nice 200$ bookend... the game will go Crash happy do to the DOCSIS 3.0 I do not know who to blame but it seems to be a Java WOW and DOCSIS battle... and the consumer is the loser Netgear support is a joke...and will not help ..DO NOT BUY

    Garbage

Piece of garbage, worked fine for 90 days approximately. Afterwards, kept losing wifi coverage, wired connection mostly fine. Contacted netgear customer support, pretty much said they cant help me at all since its been 90 days since purchase; (coulda just made up a date and said i purchased more recently) Looked up some self help techniques to make it better, and kept having the issue. they wont take returns, will replace with a refurbished product after i paid for a new one. Very unhappy- wasting a ton of my time and just not worth it. this is my 3rd netgear product thru the years and 3rd troublesome product. Should have known better to buy it again but the reviews said it was good. (probably reviewed when very new) Never purchasing netgear again.

Do not go cheap on WiFi

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I switched from DSL to Time Warner, did not want to rent a router, TWC suggested N450. Not a bad price, worked as advertised for 3 months, then about 4 times a day, kicks all of my devices off, have to reset the router. Tried to call support, said that my 90 free warrenty was expired, to get support, would have to purchase a service agrement. This is very common with this model. Moral of the story is do not go cheap on your home WiFi. The best way to make an entire house mad is to have to reset the router during a streaming movie.
