Modem is in basement. Computer is two floors up. Wi-Fi works well considering my layout ...

    Very Inconsistent

Difficult to set up, especially with finding the right password to use when logging in with your laptop the first time. Very temperamental with respect to getting disconnected easily and often (supposedly due to electrical wiring in the house?). I am in an 8 year old house. The wiring should not be an issue!

Instructions could've been clearer. Also, I've had intermittent issues since using this. Not sure if it is because of the product or my internet connection though.

Awesome & Reliable Alternative To Cat5

So I just finished my basement to have as a theater / media hangout area. After finishing it I realized my wireless down there sucks. The Wi-Fi router is on two floors up (about 60-80 ft away) Streaming movies to my AppleTV was a nightmare to the point I considered going back to hard copy movies. As I was looking for was to get better signal down there without cat5 I came across this device. Was skeptical at first, but it works and works really well. My AppleTV, which I ran the cat5 from this device to it, is having no problems loading a movie now. I also decided to buy the unit that has the 802.11n built in so I could make sure my devices (phones, tablets, etc) had coverage down their. Over the Wi-Fi I was averaging 60-80 Mbps and a 3.3 GB movie was taking less then 10 min to download completely (this is with a 50 Mbps down setup through my ISP) I would strongly recommend this to anyone looking to either get internet to a part of the house they don't have wiring or even to a location that you only get Wi-Fi but want to improve performance.

This is a piece of junk

Had a very tough time trying to get the two units to connect and never saw the wireless light come on the extender. Ran a speedtest and only 6 mbs download and 1.4 mbs upload. Would not buy again, and I’m taking it back today.

OK, but not enough for DVR

Bought to keep my Dish DVR online when I travel but it still dropped the signal. OK as a general access point, though.

    Does not work

Sounded great from multiple reviews, but would not work once I got it home. Spent an hour on the phone with Netgear customer support; no luck. They said that the individual unit might be defective, and suggested that I exchange it for a new one. Exchanged it and had the exact same experience with the replacement - all lights on the product indicate that it is working, but it will not connect via ethernet cable or wirelessly. I wish it worked as described, because that would meet our needs perfectly. As it is, though, all this device did for me was to waste several hours of my life. Frustrating and disappointing.

    Bad Experience - Documentation Wrong

Out of the box... I could not connect to the router... default user and password invalid. reset to factory... still no go. Connect via Ethernet and used the genie... again the documentation is wrong... a right click on the icon does not show configure wireless option. returning and going back to Amped Wireless. Last one got zapped during the storm and I did not not to wait for one to be shipped, but looks like I will.
