Easy to set up network saved me time and aggravation. This router was aggressively priced compared to its rivals. Great brand name found on the website for a much better price than offered on the shelf. Once again it pays to do some research even if you are standing in the store ready to buy!

The R6100 Netgear router/Ethernet device was recommended for our household by the technical installer of our local internet provider and the unit is working very well in our home environment. We are pleased with the performance of the device.

    Terrible Equipment and Dismal Support

First, I bought unit to replace an unreliable DLINK wifi router. I thought the Netgear R6100 would be an improvement, but my late 2008 Macbooks would not stay connected for more than a few minutes. I used the live chat , but they couldn't improve functionality of unit after having me install newer firmware and reset various parameters. They kept insisting my computers were bad. The absurd part was that the phone chat girl wanted me to pay $145 for her to have connectivity to my computer! There were also family members shouting in the background and children crying. The worst customer support I have ever experienced, period! PIECE OF JUNK!

    Worst Router Experience Ever

I bought this router to replace Comcast's terrible rental unit and, after waiting around 1 week for it to be delivered by BestBuy, I plugged it in only to discover that the router did not work at all. The green power LED kept flashing, which according to the Netgear support pages means that the firmware is corrupted. No idea how this could be the case on a fresh out-of-the box router. I even flashed the firmware using an obscure and somewhat vaguely described procedure described the Netgear site but still the same problem. This is the 1st Netgear router I've bought in a few years - the previous ones were great but this is terrible. After this and the frustratingly poor website and support options (have they updated the site in the last 10 years?) I will NOT be buying from Netgear again. I'm sure they have some great products but this was just way too much hassle to make me want to go there in future.

When it worked it was ok, Called the local internet provider to ask for help and the rep listed half of his call volume for the day was about netgear routers. Netgear support was outside the 90 day freebie and they asked for money to "help" me resolve my issue. Never again, this is not my first bad experience with Netgear, but it is my last. In an age were reliability is an issue, the issue remains to be about unreliability.

Signal is was okay if your near the router, But poor signal when I move 10 feet away from the router. sometimes, signal is also poor in the room. customer service can't fix it. The 5G signal is not functional either.

I've worked with Netgear tech support several times. This router is not worth the money or effort. I'm looking for a replacement. I've been using this for 6 months.

Been doing online chats with Netgear several times trying to resolve the issue with the signal strength with NO improvement. I live in a 1350 sq./ft. ranch style wood frame house and have poor reception throughout the whole house, I've done everything according to their recommendations and still no improvement. Prior to this router I owned a Cisco e2500 that worked much better. Should have kept that router!!!

Opened box, plugged in and used preset password. I then installed the Netgear Genie app on Google play and did all my settings from there. Speed is super fast.
