I needed an Ethernet port in a remote location and started off looking for a simple wireless extender. After reviewing several and comparing prices for those to the price and features of the unit I finally purchased it seemed like a much better choice. I was not disappointed. The ease of setup and performance of this Netgear unit makes it a far better value than what I was originally contemplating. I am much more than satisfied with my purchase.

I don't usually steer towards Netgear when implementing wireless networks in a house hold, but for some reason Netgear wireless extenders are some of the best extenders that I have seen. This extender is no exception to how great their extender product line is. Never drops signal, always fast. Even when streaming for hours like a movie there is no hesitation. The dual band options for 5gh is awesome. Connect all of your devices that can support 5gh and you'll see a great speed difference. The interface is easy to use and first time setup is relatively quick. I've had this model for a few months now and have never had to touch it since my initial setup. I literally forgot about it until I was asked to do this review, that's how reliable it is for me.

This Netgear range extender worked as advertised. Set-up was easy, with one exception. I have two routers, an xfinity router one broadcasting only 2.4 gigaherz, and a linksys router broadcasting both 2.4 and 5.0 gigahertz. The extender connected with the xfinity router 1st, then connected only with the 5.0 gigahertz signal of the linksys router, without returning a completion message to let me know. This led me to think that the attempt to connect with the linksys router was unsuccessful. But it was successful. The extender created two extended networks (one 2.4 gigahertz and one 5 gigahertz) that cover the entire house and garage (3000 square feet), and these networks seem to be as fast as my original 2.4 and 5 gigahertz networks when streaming via smart TV, lap top, tablet or cell phone. The extender worked well with my two routers, and my wifi dead spots are gone.

does what it says, good distance, good thoroughput for speed, especially if you employ a Cat 6 cable and keep it 20 feet or smaller.(ideally that is). I use it as I live in an old house and there is a lot of interference from the walls given their construction. So I just fed the cat 6 cable through a vent to the other house, so my wife's computer and other devices such as the PS4, and our tablets could get a good signal from my router in my office. Unless you have a 100mbit or greater connection this is more than enough for anyone's needs.

    Worked for Me!

Our primary WiFi router is located on the 3rd floor of our townhouse. We couldn't get a strong enough signal from the router to reach one area on the 1st floor - which is where our TV and WiFi DVD player are located. This meant we couldn't view Netflix on our TV. A couple of years ago, I tried the plug-in-the-wall extenders and tried every location in the house, but still couldn't get a reliable enough signal so I brought them back to the store. This year I decided to spend a little more money and try the Netgear Universal WiFi extender and locate it the 2nd floor. The signal strength to my TV/DVD area is now very good and we're finally able to watch Netflix! As expected, it does lose some speed - which is just one of those things that happens with an extender. But it still gets around 7 Mbs at the TV, which is good enough for Netflix HD. Another added benefit is that we now get a WiFi signal outside on our patio! I would recommend this product.

I was told buy my isp that I needed an extended for my Wi-Fi signal due to the size of my house. I had heard bad things about signal extenders im the past so I was reluctant to purchase one. So far, this extended is proving to be useful. Once I found a decent location, it boosts the signal okay. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because it was a hassle finding the exact spot where it was going to work decently for my needs, and literally a half inch move to the right Or left of where I eventually left it at caused a loss of signal to one room or another.

This range extender had a couple modes of operation. It can be configured as a regular repeater in your existing wifi network to extend the range, or it can be used as a wireless bridge to your existing network while also serving as a wireless access point in a separate SSID. I suppose you could also use it as a regular wired switch/hub if you wanted as well. I'm using mine as a wireless bridge with separate access point SSID because it performs better that way. The reason for this is because in normal repeater mode, it will cut your overall bandwidth in half as it has to receive and then retransmit your data with the main network. Wireless bridge mode gets around this limitation, but requires yet another wifi SSID being taken up and if you have a lot of networks around you, interference can become a problem. Also, it only works well if you have a dual band router to connect it to. It uses one band to communicate with the router and the other band for the separate SSID. This is what Netgear calls their Fastlane tech. My only complaint is that the range isn't extended as much as I'd hoped it would. The brick exterior on my house is a real killer for wifi signal broadcasts to my back yard in both 2.4 and 5.0 Ghz frequency bands. I'm getting nearly the same signal strength outside the house with or without this range extender. Inside the house, it's working well in filling in the wifi dead spots in our bedrooms.

Extenders are not the first choice of equipment if you are in need of a better wi-fi signal. Its a good option if you cant place your current router that works well in a central location of your home which will result a more even band range. If placing your router in a central location and you own a router that supplies a good overall signal as in my case, then this is the wireless range extender for you. My router is in my office in one corner of my house, the signal is very good but the doesn't quiet reach my bedroom due to being on the opposite corner of my home and signal is interfered by 4 walls. This dual band Netgear range extender was easy to setup and instantly extended an already good signal further right to my bedroom. Infact I have a wireless N+ which should be 2.4ghz but the Netgear extender is also picking up a 5.0 ghz band that does work!! I am getting speeds rainging from 64 mps-140 mbps. Very happy camper!

Thought it was my imagination that my signal strength was getter weaker. I went into the store and discussed it with an employee and found out that over time that does happen. Told him what devices would be working on this in the upper portion of the house. he went over my options and this one for the price was unbeatable (I did step away and check other prices in other stores and could NOT beat this price) Got it home and the set up was sooo easy. Was done in minutes and had results upstairs instantly.

I've tried several extenders and this is the best so far. I get a stronger signal and better range than some of the less expensive extenders, and it is fast enough for streaming video. The set-up was easy.

Allowed us to stream movies with less pauses and run many more devices at the same time without any loss of speed. Easy and very fast to add on to our system and very secure. The price was competitive and the instructions very simple to understand. It ended up being a good purchase.

I bough this extender because the router provided by provider didn't reach every corner of the house. I had to stay at certain sport to get wifi signal. Now I have signal at every corner. Excellent product. Very easy to setup, only takes about 5 min for me. You have an option to set the wifi password different from the main router. This was an excellent deal to extend the range.

Great extender. I have a Desktop in my basement and I was able to connect it to the internet through Ethernet without having to purchase a wireless card. Also is able to have enough strength in its signal to add a few tablets. Easy to setup and has the right price!

The Netgear range extender was easy to set up, with clear instructions and minimal time required. It works very well in my townhouse, in which features the modem/router on the upper floor at one end of the house. The range extender provides much better coverage (3-4 vs. 1 bar previously on most devices) on the downstairs level, and also extends coverage onto the outdoor deck

Needed this to extend wifi to the whole house. Set it up halfway from the original wifi to the rest of the house - we now have wifi throughout the house. Took maybe 25 minutes to set up without me being very tech savvy. Very happy with product.

Needed this for my 4K receiver in the living room, but my router was placed upstairs, and wasn't about to route a cable all the way down to the living room. This was the simplest solution and we have a boosted signal now downstairs. I had to connect via a computer because the quick setup button wasn't working (or I was doing it wrong), but even that process was easy.
