Pros: Small and discreet. Wireless. Live feed to computer and phone. Motion detection. Cons: Picture quality. Phone app is finicky. I got the cameras because the county I live in will not dispatch police to a security alarm being set off without a visual confirmation. For what I need it gets the job done; which is just a 90 sec clip of someone in my house if the alarm is triggered and they're wireless so I don't have to drill holes in the walls of the house I'm renting. But the quality of the cameras isn't very good. You wouldn't be able to make out faces very well, if at all and when there is movement it's very freeze frame. I kinda wish I had gotten a better nanny cam kind of system but it's hard to find ones that will link to your phone and send e-mailed clips when it detects motion.

Good hardware - if this is what you need

Wait. Be sure you understand how this unit is to be used. It is NOT an always-on surveillance camera. And, it requires an extra paid service for video and recording. I wanted a wireless unit to watch for deliveries in my driveway. When I can anticipate the approximate time, I turn the camera on and it works fine. However, when waiting a few hours for a delivery, it used ½ of the batteries life (standard CR123’s.) The promotional materials say the batteries will last 6 months IF you only use them 5 minutes a day. The camera is only “on” and using batteries when activated by the computer software but one-hour of usage equals 12 days at that computation. One of my two cameras is mounted outside under the eaves and is not convenient to continually change batteries. I’m, not sure how to react about the night-vision idea. I thought it was a camera but it is not. It’s a lamp that projects an ultra-violet (?) light that allows the camera to “see” in the dark. However, it has a cord and requires a power supply. The base station connects to the router with an Ethernet cable so you can remotely turn on the camera for viewing. The idea works swell with my home-wired computer but no so well with my iPhone. I have to reset the base station because it loses transmission to the iPhone. I wanted the unit because it has wireless transmission and doesn’t require running a long-distance power cord. That, I got. I did not have a clear picture of the limitations. I like the equipment even with the limited functionality. If you understand what this hardware does and it fits your need, then by all means take a shot. Be sure this will do what you want done. I’m keeping the equipment but to solve my problem, I mounted a Logitech computer camera on the roof eaves and ran a 50’ USB extension through the garage wall and into the house to an old laptop. I have my always-on camera and use the Netgear when the remote works.

This camera system was easy to set up and has been easy to use. You won't get GREAT detail in the images but you will get enough to tell what is going on and enough to give the police should you need to do that. It's a good product for the cost. The only drawback we have experienced was short battery life on the camera outside. However, it is very hot during summer and we suspect the weather/sun sucked the life out of it before its time. A small price to pay ...

Purchased this camera to monitor the house while traveling, as a back up to the house alarm system. My alarm is very sensitive and can be triggered by moth or insect, so every time it goes off I have to decide whether I should send a police officer to the house or not. However with these cameras I can actually check what is going on in the house. PROS: Set up is very easy, and cameras don't have any messy wires. Operates of two batteries that supposedly should last 6 months. So far I had them for month and half and they show that batteries are at the 2/3 of their charge . Has motion detector and optional IR night vision light. Cameras can be monitored through website or smart phone app. CONS: Picture quality is pretty bad, very grainy, but good enough to see what is going on. If the motion sensor is triggered, camera will take a picture instead of actual video. Picture can be viewed at the Vuezone website or Vuezone app for smart phone.

This is a great camera for a user who needs to check in, away from home, on their pets or property. VueZone is not necessarily the best for security but it gets the job done. It has great portability, can be used as a baby monitor. I would not recommend this product for night viewing even though the infrared works well. The option to take video or snapshot on a dime is nice paid feature.

I really like this system but finding the stand alone cameras to purchase has been near impossible, especially the night cameras. I haven't been able to get anymore night cameras and no one seems to know when they will be in stock. So far the only way to get another one is to buy another kit which would be useless because I don't need another hub. I also haven't had much luck with the motion sensor cameras keeping the recordings online for me to view even though I've paid for the service. I have yet to contact the company about this so that will have to have a later review. Otherwise, picture quality is good for what it states and live videos are a bit blurry but you can tell what's going on. Haven't done any night video yet either so that will be another later review. Viewing angle is very good. I have mine set up in the corners of the rooms and can pretty much see everything I need to. If you want a whole room you can do two cameras in two corners across from each other and it should get everything. For the price and the convenience of being able to put the day cameras anywhere without wires is great. Also, the infrared light you can put anywhere in the same room and still get good lightening. Mine is set up about 6 feet away from the camera so you don't have to worry about having it right by it if you don's have an outlet nearby.

You do have to play with it a bit to get the right angles that you want. We have only had it for 3 weeks and the battery shows that it is down substantially already and won't last the 6 months that it's suppose to.

This video system works pretty sufficiently. It keeps my eyes on my apartment when I'm not around. The only fallback is that sometimes I don't get my email notifications when I need them the most.

This is a good value for the money. Putting the cameras in place was easy. I had difficulty activating the product with VueZone, because of strong firewalls on my PC. That said, I called the customer support number and the tech was great, helping to get the product activated without any compromise to my firewalls. Basic system comes with two cameras and one infra-red lamp. The cameras have motion sensor capability. I can receive an email on my phone if the cameras detect motion when I know the house should be empty. I really like that. They offer an expanded service plan for $36/yr, which I will probably get after the three-month free trial period.

    Simple Security Camera

Camera has worked well. Got it when we had a false alarm on our security system and figured this will work to check on alarm notices. Set it up with a Mac on both a laptop and through the smartphone app. Have one night vision and one regular camera which we set up indoors. Both work well and the picture quality is ok. The night vision camera takes some adjustment, which is easy to accomplish from the smartphone app. Can zoom into a picture as well and has very basic control of lighting and video size. Has a decent picture viewing area. There is some picture lag. If lighting is poor, the image tends to blur when movement is quick. Ended up upgrading the service with the intent to get additional cameras. It will pick up movement of a door or smaller sized pet (25lbs)-depending on speed of movement. Set up text alerts which is both good and bad. Had the system go down when a storm tripped the breaker the router was on.

This camera system is incredibly easy to install and to operate. It's the best you can buy for a camera system where the cameras are battery operated and visible over the internet. Of course, with battery cameras, the downside is the battery life. It is as good as advertised, but that's still not great. Overall, an awesome product and the best you'll find currently for battery powered cameras.

Simple set up. No wires. Plug in base unit, sync cameras and mount. Install phone app for remote viewing. Thats it. Video isn't HD quality but clear enough to recognize people and faces. Basic set up has email alerts with snapshot pic of when motion sensor was activated (cameras with motion sensing). Motion sensing alerts can be deactivated when youre home so you dont end up with 100 alert emails. Yeah, it happened to me. With optional upgrade, they charge an annual fee of $50 with video email alerts with up to 90 second video. There's also a 250 MB library that keeps all pix n vids in the clouds. From other reviews, I understand there are periodic discounts on the annual fee upgrade. The night vision camera that uses a separate infrared unit is awesome. In pitch dark it still has a great image. Overall an excellent wireless system for the price. Recommended to all.

Setup is a breeze and the fact that these are wireless and can be put anywhere is a huge plus. Unfortunately, there is a significant delay between when the motion sensor senses movement and the camera starts recording. I have one by my front door and when I trigger it myself and walk in I am already out of the picture by the time it starts up. Also, if you want this to monitor a room or area 24/7 or for more than a few minutes occasionally this is not the system for you. The "6 month" battery life is based off of 5 minutes of use per day. So using their estimate if you want to run the camera 24/7 you'll get about 15 hours of run time before needing to replace the photo batteries - which can get very pricey.

Easy to setup and use. I like the fact that there are extra camera holders to they can be moved if needed. Great that it's all wireless (cameras use batteries) and the image quality is good enough to recognize people/see details. However there should be an option for a user to record what he sees on his local computer otherwise the basic option is very limited in its usefullness.

We needed it to find out who was stealing from our garage. I bought this product and had it set up in 15 minutes. I set it to record on motion, only 90 seconds though. When a recording occurs I get an email with a link to the video. Its simple and did the job. Only took a few days to find out what was going on!

The system is easy to establish and work with and also very cost competitive. The single biggest plus is the wireless capability, allowing for considerable flexibility in the set up and maintenance. The overall cost is quite competitive. The user manual could be more detailed and less difficult to follow, although set up was accomplished without contacting tech services at Netgear. A solid feature that is not available is an audio capability, which would add considerably to the effectiveness of the security aspect of the system for monitoring an infant or child. The audio capability would only need to be one way in order to be of major value to the overall system appeal.

I bought these cameras to monitor my home and show horses and they are top of the line! Super easy setup, great view and night vision allows great viewing 24 hours a day. And even better it is wireless cameras and requires no computer to operate, simply connection to wireless router.
