The air is electric.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Essentially installed this router just so my mom could use her Nook. After installation, I tested my PS3 and the signal strength was excellent even being two floors away. I played Modern Warfare 2 for 2 hours and had NO lag or connection issues AT ALL. Also, the installation of this product was simple and easy.

The Good, the bad, and the ugly.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very affordable wireless router that definitely gets the job done. Buying it is simple and cheap, bringing it home is easy since it's small, and finding a place to put it is a "no biggy" being that it is slim and flexible. It can either stand up with the removable holders, or it can be laid down. Either way, it looks great no matter where it is. Set up is not as simple as it could be. Security settings can be a pain to try and change, but once one is used to it, it is not anywhere near difficult. It gets very decent range, four bars at the lowest in a basement here. The connection speed is always at it's maximum. The only little bump in the air wave is disconnection every once and a while, but that could very well be a user defect. Over all, it receives a four out of five stars, and it is surely recommended.

I was leary but I'm impressed!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am by no means an expert or even very knowledgable about computers and I installed this in about 20 minutes. I was fully expecting to return this. The girl in the store recommended it but I just didn't think something this inexpensive would be what I wanted. I was wrong. I had my laptop up and running in no time. I installed the router in our basement, which also concerned me with signal issues. Not a problem at all. I'm VERY happy with this purchase. I'm also happy it came with all necessary cables (including network cable) so I can return the $15 cable I purchased!

Really Strong Connection, except in Big Houses
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since I've gotten my NETGEAR 802.11g Wireless Router, I've been able to surf the web from almost anywhere in my house, at a speed that lets me truly get the best kind of internet connection that my Internet Service Provider (ISP) has to offer. But, that is not to say I haven't been disappointed. Often, the signal from my NETGEAR 802.11g Wireless Router doesn't quite reach the upstairs computer and I'm left with no connection upstairs. My point? The NETGEAR 802.11g Wireless Router would be, without a doubt, perfect for a two-story house or smaller. But if you have a big house, just be sure that the signal never has to go through more than one wall to get to your computer. Overall, I'd say I got pretty much what I was looking for in a wireless router and that I'd say that this is a good buy.

Great Buy
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Our last router was fried during a storm, and it took us 2-3 months of looking around to find a new one. This one was great! Very easy set-up, especially for those who are not very computer literate. Some details are only a little confusing, but once you figure out what you're doing, it's really simple set-up. It took us only about 20 minutes altogether, and has so far worked terrifically! We had major issues with our wireless being hacked before, and the extra security is a huge plus - our last one didn't have this. Overall - terrific buy. More than worth the extra few bucks!

I LOVE this Netgear Wireless Adapter!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this adapter to a 1995 computer running Windows XP and I hooked it up in about 4 minutes on my computer. VERY SIMPLE to do!! I went online and my old computer gets online even faster now than it did when I had the ethernet wires hooked up directly from the modem and router to the computer! If I had known it was this easy and this much faster I would have set it up this way a long time ago!!! GREAT PRODUCT and at a good price, too!!

Adequate
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, 802.11g routers all operate at the same speed, so it is meaningless to say this one is "really fast". It either works or it doesn't - ok, range may be a differentiator. So to give a router especially high marks, it needs to excel in ease of setup, documentation, reliability, and/or support. This router's setup was smooth, with adequate instructions. The web site support is adequate. Unfortunately, my router went belly up after 3 months. Their support staff in India exhaustively walked through diagnosing the problem, but I ended up paying $30 shipping to overnight a replacement for the $40 router. grrr.

I like it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well, this is the second router I've ever owned, the first was a Belkin which I had bought the day prior to this one. I couldn't get the Belkin to work, so fearing that i would have the same problem I decide to go with another company, hence I bought the netgear. I like the look of the Netgear as opposed to the Belkin. It took me about an hour to set this one up. I had to load the disk in about 3 times before it would finally take and then I had to do some investigating because my PS3 wasn't reading the router, so I actually had to go into the wireless settings of the router and change the SSID. After I did that though it's been connected ever since. I have a PS3, Wii, DS Lite, Laptop and Pocket PC all hooked up to this router with no problems.

Great buy for the price!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It's only been 1 week since purchase, but so far so good! I was very nervous about purchasing this as I was afraid that the set up would be difficult! Even the sales guy at best-buy said that I might need some help setting it up! To my sweet surprise it was as easy as popping in the CD and just clicking and following the steps instructed!! Not even more then 30minutes and DONE!! No phone calls were needed, no nothing!! Super simple :) Now my teenager is able to use his laptop anywhere in the house, and I''m able to use my computer without him bugging me! Also I was told that this model might not give good reception through out my entire house but it WORKS GREAT in all areas :) A really great buy for the price!

Impressed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I usually don't bother to write reviews, but after reading so many negative reviews on this product, and having experienced the setup and performance last night for myself, I felt obligated to share my experience. I've had a wireless network set up at home for years, but a friend got a new computer for Christmas and asked me to set one up at her place. With her being on a tight budget, I was looking for an inexpensive router that would get the job done and still provide excellent coverage in her 1,000 sq.ft. apartment. The sales guy said they get the most complaints from the Belkin routers (setup issues) so it came down to either this one of the Linksys for $60. I was hesitant to purchase this router, having been a Linksys user for years and especially after reading the majority of the user reviews on this site. I just knew I was going to run into issues and spend hours on the phone with tech support. However, the negative reviews were proven to be completely false. After taking the router out of the box, and following the ridiculously simple 5 step setup instructions, 15 minutes later her network was up and running with her older desktop hardwired in and both of our laptops connected wirelessly. I like to think I'm pretty familiar with computers (I'm an engineer by profession) but honestly, I believe my yellow lab could've set this thing up just as easily. I've always been a firm believer in 'you get what you pay for', but I must say, for $40 (on sale for $45, but I had a $5 coupon), this little router is worth every penny. Full signal strength in every room of her 2nd floor apartment, and even 3 out of 5 bars sitting in the parking lot. Granted, we've only had it for a day, so my opinion may change completely in the next few weeks, but as of right now I would highly recommend this item. If I do run into longetivity issues, I'll try to remember to come back and update my review, but again, as it stands right now, don't believe the bad publicity - this little guy was cheap, works great, and was a breeze to setup.

Sexiest router ever
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I couldn't ask for anything more. This replaced a older Linksys router whose wireless stopped functioning. I use this at college and although it is understated, the design of this device is fantastic. It's sleek and attractive, even in the dark. I have it standing vertically, utilizing the peg legs that it comes with. Setup was mostly plug-and-play. No hiccups. So far, so good. I was nervous about purchasing a brand other than Linksys, but now I see that there are many more possibilities.

Great Router!!!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When my linksys became a brick after 1 yr, I decided to give this netgear a shot. Best purchase I have made in a while. A good quality of a router is to forget its even there. I set it up about 3 months ago and havnt had to touch it since. When I had the linksys I was reseting it at least 3 times a week and sometime several times in a day. Not with this router, literally just set it and forget it. Set up was a breeze, signal strength is more than enough. Just a all around good device.

working so far since June '10
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been using this G router for about 3 months now, and my first wireless is super convienent. I installed it myself easily, and then attempted to make my connection more secure but ended up making the whole router die. Then i had to call customer service at night and reset the whole thing. I have read a lot about the importance of making one's router very secure especially from hackers, so figoring this out is definitely crucial.

Works great, VoIP set-up required tech support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Set-up for wired and wireless computer connections was easy. VoIP (PhonePower) did not work by default. I had to call PhonePower technical support. They walked me through a couple of special settings needed (check and set Default DMZ Server to IP address of VoIP device and Disable SIP ALG). The User Interface for the router manager seems more complex than necessary. I don't like the names of the links in the left navigation pane. However, now that I am used to its quirks, it is working great for me.

Great Router
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got his router around Christmas and it was very easy to install the only problem I had was when I was hooking up my laptop to wire less I had to call netgear but they walked me though the process with no problem at all. I did find out that the router works better if it is placed on a shelf above the computer ( laptop). I would tell anyone thats is looking for a good router at a good price that this is the best one to get. Bill B.

Better than anticipated
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have setup some horrible wireless routers in the past for friends and family, which has always caused me to be loyal to Linksys. My last router was not on a surge protector, and was damaged by a surge caused by a lightning storm, forcing me to need a new one. I could not find a Linksys/Cisco under $150, so I was forced to look at another brand. I have had bad experiences with D-Link in the past, so I went with this NetGear. I must say that I was pretty impressed by it. The setup and security changes were a breeze. I expected much less at this price point.

Great Priced Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Needed a cheap reliable router to share my hotel connection with my room mate, so I was not too keen to spend too much. Popped by the nearest Best Buy and it was the best priced item I could find. Had no issues with the set up and usage and it met my needs during my short stay here in the US.
