There are a staggering amount of dash cams on the market. Many costing several hundreds of dollars with a dizzying array of features. Sometimes you just need a simple dash cam at an affordable price point. The Nextbase Piqo 2K seems to hit that mark. The pill shape of the Piqo is similar to some webcams with an inverted base. Build is sturdy with a singular button for functions like pairing and marking videos to be protected, the lens which will record at up to 1440p @30fps, microSD slot and the USB C power port. The Piqo can also be removed from the adhesive base and transferred to another vehicle and a second adhesive base is included in the package. Installation was a breeze. The toughest part would be routing the cable from the area of rear view mirror across the headliner, down the A pillar and along the door seal into the glove box area. My vehicle has a 12V power jack in the the glove box and easy access to space behind. The Piqo dual port 12V adapter. This allows me to deliver power to the Piqo and my Qi2 cell phone charger. Clean install in under 20mins. Pairing was just as easy just follow the app prompts. I was up and running in just about 30mins total. The Piqo has a viewing angle of 140deg which will cover the entirety of the hood of my car. Basic functionality of just recording in 2K during the day performed well. And license plates are legible when vehicles aren't flying by in the opposite direction. Night time performance is not as clear and making out license plates is that much more difficult, although they can be made out when behind the other vehicle while stopped. Recordings are captured in 1minute intervals and will continue to record over the oldest footage once the card capacity is reached. Using the button on the Piqo or using the voice command "Hey Nexy Protect" will lock the video to prevent being overwritten. But taking the SD card out after your drive and dumping the video onto your computer when feasible would be the best way to preserve an incident you wish to save. You can also connect the Piqo to your phone via the Nextbase App and several settings can be modified from there, like eliminating tones, resolution and frame rates and live view (good for framing your camera) just to name a few. There an accessory cable separately available for that will hardwire the Piqo to provide constant power which can enable a sentry mode to continue to record even when the car is not running. A subscription service that will send out sos messages to emergency contacts and save videos to the cloud. I opted not to look into the add ons at the moment and want to use it as a basic non connected dash cam. So far the ease of installation, day to day usage and video quality have pleased me. It's something I hope to never have to rely on but it is a bit of affordable piece of mind. If i had to list a few negatives it would be the lack of the ability to add a rear channel, the longer shape of the cam; I would've preferred a horizonal body and the ability to dim the light ring showing the status of the camera. In this day and age, it almost seems like car manufacturers should building them right into their cars so they can raise their prices even more. I'm sure they can monetize them even further through subscriptions. Until then, there are products like the Nextbase Piqo 2K Dash Cam which will bring you some added protection at a budget price.

Awful just awful. Can’t even record just stuck on the app installing firmware update so I’m returning

With already having the Nextbase IQ Smart dash cam as well the IQ Rear window camera, I already had knowledge of the quality that Nextbase puts into their cameras. I've absolutely loved my other cameras and now once again with this new Nextbase Piqo 2K Dash Camera. they just nailed it again. One of the first things I noticed was the size difference between the Piqo and Nextbase IQ dash camera. When you have something hanging from your windshield less is better. So I really like the smaller space that it takes up. It truly is a much more sleek and compact design. The modes that you can put the Piqo in are awesome especially if the car is being used by multiple people in the family, Guardian Mode allows you to set a geofenced area kind of like you do if you have a GPS collar for a dog with a set boundary and if they go out of that area you're immediately alerted. It also allows you to set a fixed or limited speed in cause someone has a "lead foot" haha and that also sends you an immediate alert. The image quality is superb just as it is with other Nextbase cams. The downsizing really is a plus! And overall its a great little dash cam. I'd highly recommend to others

This is my second Nextbase product. I have a 522GW in a my SUV and it works just fine and has a slightly larger footprint than this one and is overall a better product that is more than twice the price of this one. While setting this up and using this one, I was reminded of the price difference and that is something that the consumer needs to remember while using this product. For the price, this is quite good with some limitations. The biggest hurdle I faced was with the app set-up and with little instructions that came my way, Try the Nextbase app and not the other ones as one might get confused with the array of apps that Nextbase has depending on the product line. The dashcam is quite small and the plug and record feature is quite easy with the included 32 GB SD card, However, the connection with the app was a little frustrating as it kept dropping the link and the firmware update was a little tedious. Now, honestly, you do not really need the subscription if you have SOS services with your phone and other devices, including your car. I set this up with my sports sedan which still has the manufacturer's SOS service for the next few years and hence I did not activate the subscription. The resolution is quite good but not the best. The license plates are visible properly if they are not too far away and there are some in-built standard features that help in recording automatically once collision or an impact is detected. My advice is to use the SD card to transfer video to your computer directly as video to app transfer takes a long time. The best thing about the product (apart from its affordability) is its size. The cord is long enough and you can leave it connected using the auxiliary port while the car is parked so that it continues to record. As a beginner unit, this is a recommended buy.

Camera is not working as expected, i tried may times but camera is not working but its recording

I haven't been able to get it working. Poor setup software. Frustrating.

Can’t do anything it with high Wi-Fi and the install was annoying

The Nextbase Piqo 2K dash camera has a great compact design that is easy to install. Inside the box you will find the camera, a USB C power cable. a replacement mount piece, a kit used to clean the windshield area prior to installing the mount and a 32 gb micro sd card. It's nice that they include a 32 gb card however I would recommend purchasing a 256 gb card since they are fairly inexpensive these days. After downloading the app you can create an account and then go through initial set steps. The camera connects to your phone via bluetooth for the initial set up so be sure to accept the permissions when the phone asks. This step is quite slow as is the rest of the setup process. I had to repeat the initial set up steps a few times before I arrived at the firmware update step. I tried many times but could only get as far as the downloading step, however the update would always fail. My iOS was updated to the latest available iOS and I checked to make sure that I had the latest version of the app. The dash cam creates a local network in order to communicate with your phone however everytime I granted the proper permissions on my phone the phone could not connect to the network. It finally worked when I manually entered the password to the local network. I'm not sure if I received a faulty camera because at this point my camera had become hot and very laggy. The quality of the video looked nothing close to 2K and the delay made the camera unusable. I have used other next base cameras before and my experience with this camera left me scratching my head. I will try to factory reset the camera and run through the setup process again however I am not impressed with this dash camera and can not recommend it

Out of the box, the Next base Piqo 2k dash camera has a sleek design and comes with everything you need: the dash cam itself, a 32GB microSD card, a power cable, and a trim tool for installation. It looked promising, but as I found out, it’s a mixed bag. Setup and Installation Setting up the camera with the app was straightforward enough—just scan the QR code in the manual to download the Nextbase app. Pairing the camera to my phone was a little fiddly, but I got it working after a couple of tries. Installing the power cable using the included trim tool was actually one of the easiest parts of the process. The tool made tucking the cable into the car’s interior trim a breeze, so kudos to Nextbase for including it. Storage and Subscription The 32GB microSD card included with the camera is a nice touch, but it fills up quickly depending on your recording habits. For frequent or long trips, you’ll likely want to upgrade to a larger card to avoid constantly transferring files. The camera also offers a monthly subscription service for cloud storage, which might appeal to users who want to keep their footage backed up. However, I decided to stick with local storage for simplicity. Performance and Usability Here’s where things start to unravel. The camera’s WiFi direct connection allows you to play back videos on your phone without removing the SD card, but the playback is choppy at best. Stuttering video makes it hard to review footage in the car, which is frustrating if you’re trying to check something on the spot. I also noticed the camera frequently disconnecting from the app, forcing me to reconnect multiple times—a headache when you’re in a hurry. Firmware updates are supposed to fix these kinds of bugs, but they’ve been hit or miss. One update seemed to improve stability slightly, while another left me wondering if it had done anything at all. Final Thoughts Overall, the Nextbase Piqo 2K Dash Camera is a decent option for drivers looking for a basic dash cam with a few smart features. The app setup and power cable installation are user-friendly, and the included trim tool is a nice bonus. However, the frequent disconnections, inconsistent firmware updates, and poor in-car video playback mar the experience. If you’re okay with its quirks and don’t mind upgrading the microSD card, it’s not a bad choice for the price. But for a seamless and reliable experience, you might want to consider other options.

I was gifted this as a Christmas present and yesterday it helped defuse a situation with neighbors so I'm on an appreciation kick. This thing's great. It came with a memory card that's proven more than large enough. The app was easy to install. And the camera's very small. I used to have one that was nearly the size of the rearview mirror. That one never really bugged me because of how big it was but this one made me appreciate how much smaller these things have become. Nothing but love for the camera and am very happy to know drama was avoided on the block simply because I told my brother people can't drive anymore.

Super easy to use and everything I need in a dash cam. G-sensor, witness more, esos and guardian mode are going be really useful when i need it... Really easy to install. Small and discreet design that doesn't take too much of space.

I decided to give the Nextbase Piqo a shot since it’s small and not too expensive. It stuck to the windshield without any hassle, has a good amount of cable to hide away, and the app is pretty easy to use. So far so good.

It's always exciting when a cool new product comes out and you get your hands on it. Unfortunately, being that it is a new product, you know that there are bugs that will have to be fixed. Well, that is no exception with the Nextbase Piqo dash cam. This isn't my first Nextbase dash cam. I have two other different model dashcams installed. I have one in my wife's car, and one in my truck, This Piqo is supposed to go in my Jeep. One of the biggest problems that I have dealt with when dealing with a Nextbase dash camera is their app. It feels like they rush to release their newest products and don't address compatibility issues or major bugs that should be addressed before new products are rolled out. Another thing is that there has been a different app for each of the Nextbase dash cams that I have received. Why doesn't Nextbase keep everything centralized in one single app. If they can't do that due to features, at least put a little bit more time into app development before they release new products. While trying to install the Piqo, I thought I could just go into my Nextbase app that I already had installed. I pressed the paring button, but noticed that it wouldn't pair. So, off to the internet I went (no instruction included...QR code with little to no help). I found out that I neded to download a completely new app to get this camera running. I finally paired the device, was connected, and found that no video was showing up. Only white lines with no image. I kept trying to work things out, but it wouldn't work. The firmware was all up to date, and still nothing. I can't use the dashcam if I can see if it is recording or not. Unfortunately, there is only one button on the camera, but no screen to help navigate things via the cam itself. Everything is done via the app with the PIQO. The concept of the Nextbase Piqo dash cam is good, but the functionality and reliability is lacking. I would wait until Nextbase clears its bugs before purchasing the Piqo. They eventually do fix the issues with their apps, but at a slow pace.

The Piqo has everything I need and was easy to install. Really glad the SD card was included in the box.
