The graphics make you feel like you are on the ice. Controls are easy to use. My seven year old nephew enjoyed playing after I taught him how to play.

Terrible AI, goaltending, and passing. Other than that, not a whole lot different. Net battles and tip ins are huge this year. HUT is still barebones. EASHL unlocks add a lot of fun to the mix.

This might be the best one yet, not saying much since 15' and prior were not that great. 16 was good and this is better than that. It has lots of modes and the online is pretty smooth.

After playing a few games, goalies are much better but they still let cheese goals just past the blue line. AI still not the smartest, passes go wherever. But I still totally enjoy it.

Got this game for my son who plays hockey and loves the sport. He enjoys playing this game and especially creating the characters. The amount of celebration moves is crazy! It’s fun to see him create his players.

Every year it seems like this game keeps getting better and better. Along with user friendly controls, the graphics are incredible

Another year and another annual NHL game. This year's game is an improvement from last year. A better GM mode where you get to control the prices for merch, tickets, concession, etc. You also get to play around advertisement for you team so you can attract more fans. You can even relocate a franchise from one city to another city. Heck, there's even ECHL this year! Maybe in the future, they'll include the KHL. So, this year's is a big step to be an ultimate NHL game. Highly recommended if you're a fan of the NHL,

Every year the NHL games get a little better. Now, I can't say how much it improved over last year, as I upgraded from a PS3, but the contrast between the two are striking. The handful of new features are clearly difference makers, but I was a little bummed to find that the ECHL teams are not linked to NHL franchises. So you can't send someone down from the AHL to the ECHL, as in real life, to get playing time in franchise mode. Other than that, another solid installment of a great franchise.

Fun game. Plenty of modes to choose from and a little deeper GM mode. Pretty much a refreshed version of NHL 16, so unless you're a diehard NHL fan might be one to pass on.

Same things every year...the AI is awful and they really screwed the passing up this year. Great graphics and details as always

Its been awhile since I've picked up or played a hockey game since ESPNs last go round. Game play has improved. The manual dekes have gotten better and the deke button makes up for slow fingers. The GUI is decent with a lot of features. I like the be a pro mode. Its not just a build your player and take them to a draft, the shifts are semi realistic and keeps you from just scoring a 1000 goals a season and losing the fun of it. Only draw back I feel are the penalties. Some fee like its too easy to take a penalty with a poke check but. Its a good game overall. Online play is fun.

Great game play and a host of additional features. Son loves it. He can even design his own arena! Lots of fun!

Very realistic. Adjust the settings to make it real and difficult. Strategy is important and adjustments!

The only things missing that would give it the 5th star are minor visual and audio issues. There should be options to adjust the font size of menus and display options for player names. If you have player names turned on, they disappear too quickly and you can't add numbers to the display. Not an issue if you're playing with a team you know well but I like to switch teams once in a while. Also, on the PS3 versions, you could import your own playlists to customize actual arena music. That option is now gone. Good thing the gameplay is amazing.

Big improvement from last years game. Physics are great. Unbelievable graphics. A must for hockey fans.

In typical EA Sports NHL fashion, this game delivers on all the essentials - favorite players, good maneuvering, customizable controls, etc.

It is the only ice hockey game in town, so there really isn't another option. The graphics are solid, and there is also a new World Cup mode this year. I do feel that the controls have gotten to complicated. I am not asking for NHL 94 controls (yes, they are there), but at least a little more depth without taking away the fun. I think EA's sports games have a habit of focusing too much on their FUT features. I don't think this was a big enough upgrade. But if you haven't played an NHL game in a while, then this is the one to check out.

This years nhl installment is the best version yet. The controls are smoother than last year and all the new features make it even better.
