    I purchased this unit and had issues setting up the phone app as this is the first generation that came out two months ago. The app did not even have this unit to select. After finally getting a call back (I called and tried to chat with an agent for 6 day and each time the wait was over an hour), she stated that the instructions that the unit came with were incorrect and it directed me to the old phone app and DVR setup instructions. After I talked with her she was able to help me set this up after 30 minutes. After setup and installation of all camera's the phone app is slow the equipment is built cheaply and I consistently have issues with lag time and signing in to the DVR. It's a $400 unit, but sadly does not feel like a good value. I would be happy to talk to Night Owl (but please give me a number that I don't have to wait an hour). Thank you for reading.

    although the cameras are pretty okay, the app is TRASH. Also, I'm having to deal with the fact that my moms ex has full access and somehow made himself the admin, when I'm the one who set the friggin things up >:( and of course, just past the point of being able to return them. now I'm apparently supposed to send the DVR to the company for a replacement. I'd much rather simple return the darn things, especially as my warranty is still valid, so why can't I just return? love best buy but jeez, y'all

      We would definitely need to gather some more information from you to better assist. If you are past the return window, then no you cannot return your product. We provide a warranty to replace defective product within the specified period of time, but that has nothing to do with returns. If you spoke with a technician and they offered a warranty claim, then you would need to use the pre-paid shipping label you were provided to send the unit in. But from what you mentioned, it sounds as though you allowed multiple people to access the system using 1 set of login credentials. Admin is the default, but unless you create additional logins for people you want to have access, then they can access the system using the admin login information if you shared it with them. If you are the admin and can provide the proof of purchase, our technical support team can further assist. We know such issues can be frustrating, but what you are experiencing really is not a product defect and we are attempting to assist the best we can. We hope to be able to further help you.     NightOwl's biggest failure to date.

    Nightowl's biggest mistake was putting this system on the market. I hate this product. Over the years i have probably had 5 different NO series DVR's and the DP2 series is by far the worst. I have had nothing but problem after problem. Let me explain some of the issues. 1st, you can not set brightness settings for day and night. You have to set it for one or the other. So if you live in the woods and it is extremely dark. If you lighten up the display to be able to record at night. Then it white washes during the daytime. If you darken it for day time veiwing. Then its to black at night and I am unable to be there to make adjustments 4 out of 7 days. 2nd, it will not stay connected to the web. It just connects and disconnects randomly and I have 1gig whole home internet. Also why put error codes in the system? If your not going to make them accessible. I have searched and searched for code 04-001. My DVR has gotten to where it reboots every 10 minutes and that code pops up before it reboots. I have checked and the DVR is not running hot. So I am stuck with no way to fix. BECAUSE I CANT FIND WHAT THE CODE STANDS FOR. I have always loved NO. But this product is junk and also the cameras are not up to NO standards either. They look and feel fake not to mention cheap. By far the best product out of all was the Hybrid 20 camera dvr. But for some reason when mine had issues. You would not fix or replace. Only refund because you stopped making them and went to this. I paid $350 for something that does not perform as good as under $200 generic systems do. If it keeps going this way. I will start looking for another brand. I have had this DVR for 7 months and I have had it with it. I will be returning it. Tired of only seeing the logo as it continues to reboot and if im not exchanged for different NO product or refunded. My next system will not be made by NIGHTOWL. PLEASE GO BACK TO PUTTING OUT A GREAT PRODUCT. BECAUSE THIS IS NOT.

    Installing was a pain. Needed to contact tech support and they had to send a replacement DVR. After receiving replacement part, the system works as expected. Super frustrating that it did not work correctly out of the box.

    I cannot really give a accurate review because this security camera system was defective on arrival could not get it to connect to the internet service so thete was no way to view the cameras remotely

    these little cameras have a really nice picture in the daytime and at night . we have had them on for about 3 weeks now . we have no complaints , we have even told a few friends that they should get them too . we don't feel like were blind , we can see all over our yard now ,

    Spoke with salesperson regarding the night vision capabilities. Was told it had color night vision. It does not. It’s black and white. The picture was also not up to my expectations. This was to replace an older 720p system but the older system had video that was much more clear. Returned with no issues. Great customer service.

      Hi there. Sorry to hear you had a poor experience with this system. It does have Color Night Vision. However, in order for this feature to work, there must be some ambient light available. For instance, street lights, house lights, moonlight, are all types of ambient lighting. If the install location is completely dark at night, then Color Night Vision will not work and the cameras will revert to black and white Night Vision. Again, we are sorry you had to return the system. Out technical support team would have been happy to assist. Hopefully, you give us another chance and we can improve upon your experience.     I like that you an change the settings on each individual camera. My backdoor has a lot of leaf movement, so i set it to low, and it still goes off very regularly, but not every minute. Also like that it has a dvr as well as an app for your phone.
