I’ve always enjoyed the easy to use Nikon cool pix cameras. I recently upgraded to the A900 and loved the Bluetooth/WiFi feature on my recent trip to Ireland. Sharing instantly with my iPhone made it so easy to share my photos day to day on vacation. Quality of photos are amazing with the even better zoom on this camera. I highly recommend this camera and super easy to use.

Here are the reasons why I'm not giving this camera 5 stars:
No viewfinder
Unable to shoot unlimited video (28+ minute max per session in HD and 7+ minute max per session in 4K)
This camera would be the best overall point and shoot on the market if it had just 5x more optical zoom (it has 35x optical zoom)
It is a little pricey.
This does take good pictures, it just takes some practice with the long zoom. I have attached a picture that I took of the moon with both the optical and digital zooms maxed out. It has not been edited at all aside from cropping.

I needed to replace my Coolpix S8100. I prefer a camera as opposed to my cell phone when I take pictures. The A900 blew me away. This camera has the ability to get moon shots with amazing detail. A versatile camera for great photos on the run.

I purchased Nikon coolpix A900 to take for a two week vacation in Europe. The small size is convenient for getting around in crowds. The zoom is great and it takes fast pictures. I was able to capture pictures even when others with manual cameras were still setting up. I kept it on automatic but this camera does have some manual settings. Battery life is great. I have a spare battery also but found that one battery was sufficient for a full day of pictures. SnapBridge works great. I did have to update the firmware before it worked but the directions were easy to follow. Love this camera and look forward to using it all the time.

This camera has all the settings from auto to manual and everything in between that I need.. The zoom is excellent for my needs 24x optical. In fact, on my trip to Israel, a person with a long zoom digital more expensive camera was not able to get the wide variety of light situations to match the clear shots I obtained. I am very satisfied and would recommend this camera.

This camera is really easy to use and feels great in your hands. The 4k video looks pretty good, keep in mind that there is a limited amount of continuous recording time when using the 4k resolution (~7minutes). I believe the recording time varies depending on the temperature of the camera. There is no recording limit when using 1080 resolution. The zoom on this camera works great, and it is a pretty compact device. The camera includes a charger, battery, and safety strap. The menu is really easy to navigate and it shows you a brief description on the screen. The screen can be move to multiple positions, excellent feature when taking pics from the ground or high spots. You will get access to the Nikon page, where you can upload and store your pics for free. Use the Nikon app to download pics or videos to your phone and share them online, GPS information, and video edits.

Had the camera for 6 weeks now and am very pleased with photo quality and ease of use. It is true that the focus can be a tiny bit slow, and I have missed a couple of shots due to the speed, as other reviewers noted. However, the grid that shows focus has helped me to compose better photos that need less editing and is a huge improvment over prior Coolpix. Zoom is great, but sometimes difficult to keep steady when fully extended in wind or when my hands are tired. I'm getting some shots that I doubted I'd get at all with good quality. I wish the rechargeable battery had a longer life. For a full day of shooting while traveling, I find it necessary to have a spared charged battery with me and I must recharge the battery each evening. Overall, an excellent point and shoot that fits easily in my pocket - exactly what I wanted.

This camera is good for the novice user and provides adequate optical zoom for the average user.
PROs
easy to use
rechargeable battery
pocket sized
CONS
not capable of more than 4 continuous shots
shutter speed and recording speed to memory card could be a bit faster (I used a SANDISK SDXC Ultra card)
For those taking self-portraits without a monopod, this device is awkward to use compared to its predecessor the S9900 (A900 has fixed flip-up screen vs S9900 having side flip out and rotating screen).
I needed a quick replacement for my broken S9900 and this did the trick however I greatly preferred the S9900 design. Do NOT plan to use the full digital zoom on this camera as it cannot keep up with the subject without being very shaky. If you need more than 40x optical zoom, then upgrade to a camera that can deliver over 40x optical.
I utilized this camera for a vacation through Alaska with rapidly changing scenery. The photo quality was clear and crisp.

I love the swivel screen. I have arthritis and my hands shake as well. Having the screen tilt up and down really make it easier to take better pictures as well as video. There is also the advantage of being able to position the screen away from the suns reflection. The camera too very clear pictures as well. As mentioned by others, the camera is a bit limited in low light, but if you know what your doing, you can get better shots. That is because it does come with the manual function. I tried this camera, the Sony DSC-HX80 and the Canon 720HS and this was the best camera in my opinion.

Good camera but has many non functional features

The camera itself takes good pictures for the size. I like the long zoom and smaller overall size(although not tiny) I will use it for birding while cycling/kayaking. It has a better/more accurate autofocus than the 9900 it replaces. The image quality is sharp and acceptable but not as good as the smaller and frankly better SONY HX90V that unfortunately just suddenly died on me. I am pretty tech savvy and I could not get the wifi /Bluetooth/Nikon apps to work to pair with my iPhone. The video function is also not very user friendly/intuitive. If you just want a decent pocket-able camera for general photos it's good. I like the tilt-able back viewing screen that allows comfortable picture taking at difficult angles. The other features are worthless IMO.

I replaced a Coolpix compact camera I had been using for 5 years (spot on the lens) with the A900 and have totally enjoyed it. Great telephoto speed and quick shutter response. The pictures have turned out very clear, color correct, and detailed. I have a larger Nikon with 60x zoom which works great but this A900 is just the right size to fit in my pocket and easy to remove. I use both but when vacationing at a fast clip the smaller camera works best. I would recommend this camera.

This camera takes nice photographs. I enjoy the Nikon line of point and shoots. The only thing I don’t like about this camera is that you have to physically pop up the flash when you choose to use it and reseat it once you are done. Other than that it’s a fantastic camera

The camera is great...very versatile, especially with the multi-screen and setting features. The stabilization works very well and holds to the maximum. Very easy to use for beginners yet feature rich for the expert. Great take anywhere camera...fits in your pocket.

I was following the release for the COOLPIX A900 and was looking forward to seeing this camera. I'm a videographer and typically film and take photos with a camcorder. The 30x zoom and 4K video along with the small footprint of this camera I hoped would suffice for filming at shows when I didn't want to use a larger camcorder. While I am handy enough with the menu items for adjusting the ISO and focus I do count on the automatic settings allowing a default quality to my pictures and video. Interestingly the camera did better on the video than on the stills under low light. Within a minute or so filming at 4 K the camera gets hot enough to start worrying a bit. Camera would shut down with no warning, using 4K on this camera isn't a great idea. I went with 1080 which seemed to make the camera a bit less fussy. Buttons are flimsy, the flash is an accident waiting to happen. The mic is among the worst I have heard compared to Canon or Sony. I took advantage of Best Buy's 10 Day guarantee and returned the camera. I did pass it around among better photographers in my field who all agreed I could do better at that price point. I wasn't happy with the camera, I was impressed with Best Buy .Here's some test footage I posted though it did a bit better for more acoustic acts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p38vWdNe4B0

The Nikon A900 is a nifty little point-n-shoot that takes decent pictures in reasonable lighting conditions. Do not expect much in low light, though. While you can push up the ISO, it’s a small sensor, and it can only do so much. I was told it shot RAW files, but it does not, and that was a deal breaker for me. JPEG quality is good, however.
Video quality is surprisingly good - billed as 4K, probably close to it. Optical zoom is a little noisy in video, but not overly so.
Warning: this camera is TINY, which can make using the controls a real challenge.
In the end I returned it. I need more than what the A900 can deliver, but that doesn’t mean it wouldn’t suit the needs of someone who needs a good, reasonably priced camera for family photos and videos.

This camera takes great pictures and video and fits nicely in your pocket. I prefer to travel with high-end point and shoot cameras like these rather than large SLRs which make you a bigger target for crime overseas, especially when walking around at night -- or in circumstances when a large camera around your neck would invite unwelcome attention. This camera fits the bill, although I have misgivings about the sturdiness of the automatic lens cap. I had Nikon's non-4K precursor to this camera but the similarly fragile auto-lens ended up getting bent in my pocket and would no longer close fully (even halfway) as a result. They are unfortunately not easily or cheaply repairable, and thus a major drawback of this unit.
