Camera is great for beginners or anyone starting to use a DSLR. Simple to use and option to shoot Manual or use scene modes. Takes good video quality. Nice economy camera that will produce exceptional results. Accepts nikon mount lenses which there is an abundance of high end lenses available.

My husband gave it to me for Christmas. I have always enjoyed photography, but only recently started making an effort to have time for it, so this is my first camera that is not a point and shoot. I am still figuring out some settings, but even with everything on "Auto" it takes beautiful photos. I am sure once I finish reading the manual and play with it a little more, I will be more comfortable with it. I also love the 55-200mm lens, great for photos outside.

I exchanged a Canon TI1 for this Nixon D3100 and its the best thing I did. The picture quality is incredible, crisp, and clear. Canon was great too but in my opinion Nixon's picture was more clear. I love it!

I was upgrading from the Nikon D40 to the D3100, and I love all the extra features (video, live screen mode, etc...), but in addition, the images are a lot more clearer, and the image quality is second to none. Took it to Alaska and was able to capture eagles flying in perfect detail!

    Great first DSLR buy!

I was super indecisive about purchasing my first DSLR camera...if I even wanted/needed a DSLR camera! But after doing months of research, I finally decided on the D3100. This really is the perfect camera for any DSLR beginner. "Guide" mode makes taking shots insanely easy right out the box. The camera is EXTREMELY intuitive, easy to use, lightweight, and of high picture quality. I love it!!! The battery life is amazing, I had it on for at least 8 hours yesterday and it still read "fully charged." I didn't think I needed all of the "extra" that came with a DSLR, but if you're anything like me and on the fence in terms of deciding...just upgrade. It's totally worth it, and the picture quality truly speaks for itself. Plus, it's great having the option to switch to Manuel once I really get the hang of all of the features this camera has to offer.

I've recently gotten into to the hobby of photography and this camera is absolutly awesome. takes wonderful pics. i'm just saving now for a better zoom lens. the lens that comes with the camera is an upgraded one compared to the older cameras. but its the best camera i've ever owned and i look forward to having this camera for a long time, instead of constantly buying new smaller cameras

This is the first Nikon SLR I have purchased in over 40 years and I really enjoy how easy it is to operate and the quality of photo's. Nikon has always produced great cameras and continues to do so. I also like the option of either taking photo's through the viewfinder or using live view option. I also like the pop-up built-in flash.

I purchased this camera about a week before we left for a vacation in Florida. The results of my pictures were fabulous. The inside as well as the outside pictures gave true vivid colors. I had a cannon rebel prior to this camera and the Nikon by far surpasses the picture quality of the cannon.

Love the camera. Again Nikon (My Favorite Camera Company) hit a homerun. I have a couple other Nikon lens I use with my Nikon 35MM camera and they pair perfectly with this camera. I have to shoot manually with this other glass, but it is totally worth it. For a light-weight digital SLR it is a great buy and an all-around point-and-shoot as well as manual camera. This is why I always buy Nikon. And, thanks Best Buy for making the purchase fast and easy. Matt

This camera is by far the best I have ever owned. It has a powerful built in flash and in full auto mode it will take a telephoto flash photo at 50 feet. The kit lens works well for macro and wide angle and I also have a 55-200mm lens that gives a great photo with or without a flash. Also have a 50mm Nikon lens for low light and it works really well too. But forget about using it in Live view. Live view works too slow.

The Nikon D3100 is a great camera for the everyday person wanting to take high-quality pictures. It is easy to set up, easy to use, and takes excellent pictures indoors and outdoors. I was so pleased by the salesman at the Bowie store, who took the time to explain to me the differences in the various Nikon camera models. When I decided on the D3100, I knew I had made the right decision for my needs.

Loveee this camera! Just got it a few weeks ago and can't stop playing with it. Finally decided to upgrade to a nice camera from a regular digital and I'm not sure I want to go back to my regular digital camera, unless I need something small to carry around. The camera is easy to use and takes awesome pics!

I can't say enough about this camera, I totally love it. It has many awesome in-camera features, including different editing options. You can switch between Manual and Autofocus if you want to work on your photography skills. I only wish I'd gotten the 55-200mm zoom lens as well!

I really like this camera, it is easy to use and picture quality is great even when using the auto function. I like that when using the guide function, the camera helps you choose the right settings for the type of picture you want to take. This was a great purchase and I would buy the camera again.

Very easy to use with many features that will help you take the next steps to better pictures. After a few shots with the guide mode, I'm already starting to master the manual settings and getting the pictures I wish I had when I had a point and shoot. I highly recommend this camera to those who are new to digital photography as well as seasoned veterans.

This camera is good for those who want to look like a professional but not spend like one. I have used a Nikon before (199-1994) and fell in love with it during my high school journalism days. Now as a television editor I still like the nature of the still shot. I very quickly learned the basic features of the camera and some of its features. The lower marks are not because there is something wrong with the camera or its features but because I do not yet have the experience to properly comment on them.
