Considered the D5000 but waited for the D3100 to become available glad I did ,this camera has more features and is slightly smaller in size perfect for me as a novice user.Has many features that can take you to pro quality pictures. Great Camera

I am so excited with my new camera. It is easy even for a novice to learn and takes beautiful pictures. We are boating enthusiasts and it takes great action shots of water skiing, cliff jumping, etc. It also takes beautiful still shots. I got two lenses with my camera and am still learning to use them but so far so good!

After buying this camera as a gift for my daughter, I saw how easy it is to set up and begin using. I then bought another one for myself. The camera takes beautiful pictures, has great auto focus and is simple to use. I would recommend this camera to anyone looking for a user friendly camera at a great price. I also like the camera bag that comes free with the camera.

Took this on a recent trip to Europe and came home with the best pictures ever. I typically prefer a smaller camera for travel, but this one truly exceeded expectations. Easy to use, auto mode works great if you don't want to mess with the other options.

I love this camera, you will notice a very big difference in quality from a point a shoot.

I have this exact camera I purchased a few months back from Best Buy. I love it. It is very easy to use right out of the box. makes great pictures. This purchase was made for a friend who needed to replace a point & shoot. It was a present from her husband. She had seen mine, so I recommended this to her. I know she will enjoy it.

Reluctantly, I had to replace my Nikon D40. Everything is disposable these days. Cheaper to buy a new one than to fix the old one? And mind you, the old one is only 5 years old! Now that I have recovered from the disappointment of having to buy a new one at all, I am thoroughly enjoying the D3100. This thing is like lightening compared to the D40! I use my cameras for 2 very different purposes, 1. still shots of detailed work for professional use, and 2. action shots of my children playing soccer, baseball, basketball and football for personal use. The D3100 provides a wonderful outcome for both uses. I'm still not a fan of 'disposable everything,' but I am a fan of the D3100.

The D3100 fits my needs very well. I used it for the first time on my vacation. I was truly pleased with its ease of use, comfortability, and self-adjusting capability. It's been decades since I used a 35mm style camera. The D3100 takes super sharp pictures too.

This is my first DSL camera. I was a little afraid of cameras where I had to change the lenses out, but this one is great. I took the advice of the store employee and upgraded to this over a CoolPIX camera and I'm glad I did. The pictures are awesome! It's a little confusing to remember what settings to use, but with time, I am getting that down. I love this camera and am glad I made the purchase!

I wanted to upgrade my camera for vacation time this year. I really wanted a DSLR. I have been pleasantly surprised at the quality of photos and how easy to use this camera is. I didn't think I would need additional lenses but was so quickly hooked on this camera that I went back in a week for the zoom lens.

I have been using this for a beginner photography class. Several others have this model as well . It's a very good buy for the money. The options for this price in another camera is not out there. Very nice

This camera takes beautiful pictures which are easy to edit using the built in software. It was relatively easy to learn how to use basic functions to start taking pictures after unpacking the camera. I would recommend this camera to someone looking to start using a DSLR camera,

This is my first DSLR camera and I love it! I am still learning more as I use it. It is easy to use and set-up was easy as well. The lense it comes with works well. However, I bought a better one and it is really easy to switch from one to the other. I am VERY happy with the camera and the ease of use. I would high reccommend this camera for anyone!

Worthy camera upholding Nikon name. However, came with no connection cord (a must) for downloads and no camera case. For the money paid, should come with 8GB memory card and a spare battery would be really great (for a few extra $). Most of the on screen menu is easy to use but some features not intuitive (e.g. Manual mode and shutter speed adjust) and need either manual or help disk. On screen guide does not cover all features. But overall, I'd recommend it.

Took the camera to Italy and was able to take the best pictures I've ever taken. Nothing can compare to an SLR. This camera is easy to use and if your just learning then you can use the auto setting and it will do it all for you.

I´m happy with my brand new D3100 y make very good photos alrady. Very recomenden for amateur photographers.

It's just an awesome camera. I love it. I love taking pictures of my daughter...especially close-ups and it's perfect. I haven't played with the video feature much yet, but I guess I could try that out more soon.

As a beginner I found this camera very easy to use pick up and use. The pictures are great. This suits my needs perfectly! I like that I could purchase as a bundle so I had everything I needed to get started.
