I orginally purchased the Sb-300 and it proved to be much to slow to keep up with D7500. I promptly exchanged for the Sb-500. This is a much faster unit and offers more versatility when taking photos. It is larger and costs more, however it is much more functional for a Dslr flash. The price can be a challenge but definitely worth the investment.

I was trying to decide between the SB-500 and the larger versions of speedlights that Nikon offers. In the end I opted for this speedlight since it has LEDs on the front that I thought might help when I'm recording video. I've been very pleased with the flash. It turns on quickly, the head tilts up and down and swivels right and left. There is no diffuser included, but it's still a great little speedlight.

This is a great flash for "3D" imaging. I use it for taking pictures of still objects to draw. It's also great for portrates with the ability to swivel the flash head and ability to move the flash up and down, it's all around flexibility is great for several picture taking senerios. The Ultra Bright LEDs for video making is very useful. You can use it with 3 light levels for any kind of lighting needs.

After using this flash light.. pictures are great and very helpful.

Easy to use and set up. Looking forward to trying it out.

No distance range gauge diffusor or bounce card built in . Flash has to be adjusted in camera settings. The flash does work well, however the LED light turns skin tones blue still have not fully determined if adjusting white balance will correct this issue. The LED light is bright. If wanting to use flash only I would buy the SB700. The compact design does make it light and easy to carry. I have used the flash both indoors and outside.

Bought this for my D750 camera and it changed my indoor pics 10x. I used to have horrible pics when my subjects stand in front of the window. Their face and everything thing indoors goes dark while everything outside is bright. Using this speed light to bounce the light off the ceiling or walls brings out details inside while maintaining proper exposure for outside. I rarely use the flash directly on my subjects and found "light bouncing" to be my favorite way of taking pictures. It also comes with a dedicated LED light for movie taking. Wonderful light for the price. I like mine and have nothing negative to say.

Easy to use easy to assemble and attach to camera.

I am a newbie when it comes to photography, but this is a very nice flash to use with my Nikon 3100 camera. I can already see a remarkable difference in the light balance for my internal pictures. Although I've only tried a couple of its different settings, I cannot wait to see how this helps me for future photo sessions.

Bought this for a Father's Day gift, and I fell in love with it. It's an awesome flash for beginners.

Excellent flash with lots of features for the cost. Does everything I expected.

Works well, price is right. Have taken a series of pictures in dimly-lit areas and they come out like they were taken in full sun. Like that the flash can be manipulated in all directions, especially for vertical shots.

Provide additional light, and back lighting in low light conditions.

Nice flash! It is not fancy but it does what I need it to do.
