Customers are saying

Customers often highlight the excellent camera quality, ease of use, and lightweight, compact design of the Z50 Mirrorless Camera. Many appreciate its affordability and comfortable grip. However, some users express concerns about the battery life and the use of a micro USB port instead of a USB-C port. The included lenses are also frequently praised.

I moved from a Sony A7 iii to the Nikon Z50

I had a Sony A7 iii with a 24-105mm f/4 G OSS lens. In addition, I had the Godox wireless flash with a Sony hotshoe mount. Sold the Sony camera and lens, and got this Z50 two lens kit. The performance of this camera is nothing but wow. Pictures with both lenses are tack sharp, and really small camera is now a joy to use, especially with the 16-50mm pancake lens that makes this a lightweight camera to travel with. I love the onboard flash on the Z50, which the Sony lacked and was a pain to use indoors. Most low light indoor photos with people in them are usually lame without fill flash, so the Z50 fills that gap very nicely. Both lenses are so sharp and good, that I would purchase a Nikon Z camera just so I can get the lenses. Bokeh, even at the fastest aperture setting is smooth and soft on both lenses. Although I don't really need it, I am tempted to add a f1.8 prime lens that Nikon just announced for the Z system to my kit. I purchased a Godox wireless flash trigger, and a Godox Ving flash that was sold as a bundle on amazon for my Nikon. These flashes work seamlessly with my Godox flash for Sony, so now I can play with multiple remote wireless flash positions for portraits of my family members. Wireless flashes add a whole new dimension to portraits, and 9 out of 10 photos are spectacular with this Z50. I shot monochrome portraits using wireless flashes, and they were jaw dropping good. The other items that I purchased for this kit were the UV and polarizing filters for both lenses, that were really cheap on amazon, and work fantastic. I could never get the same level of sharpness or the vivid colors with the Sony A7 iii as I do on the Z50. Plus, I have several hundred dollars in my pocket left over with this trade, even with the extra flash units and filters I purchased. Super happy with this camera!

Really nice shooting experience with this little camera. I took this with me to a trip to San diego and got lots of nice pics of seagull, oceanview and so on. The 50-250 lense is satisfying for taking close ups, get a flavor of more focused effect with appropriate blur of surroundings. The color of nikon is good which get the pics a natural taste. Anyway, this is a good mirrorless camera to take out to trips for this lightweight.

Downsizing from DSLR kit. The Z50 is much smaller and lighter, but results are just about equal to my D750, maybe better at high ISO. The two kit lenses are amazing. Small, light, and picture quality as good as some of my far more expensive F-mount lenses. Get the two lens kit. No brainer. Incredible value. Still learning some of the features, but menus and settings are very similar to every other Nikon DSLR. There are a few annoyances, but none outweigh the overall value and ease of use of this kit. Best of all, I've reduced my 20lb backpack kit to a 4lb shoulder bag kit. It also means I can use smaller, lighter tripods and heads. All good for an old man tired of hauling around a bunch of heavy gear. P.S. I got the FTZ 2 F-mount adapter in case It wanted to use any of my previous lenses. I've only tried it with one lens, and it works perfectly. AF, exposure, etc. works the same, no distortions, falloff or anything like that.

I use the Z50 for 50/50 Video and Photo TLDR: This is a Clydesdale Work Horse of a camera. You would sincerely have to spend an additional $700-$800 to get anything better or more versatile. Spectacular camera for travel, family/sporting/nature, YouTube or Interview videos, Product photography. Came from Sony Alpha System, background in video production Pros - Excellent image quality out of 2 kit lenses and they cover 16mm-250mm of zoom range! (24mm-375mm full frame equivalent) - You require nothing else to really get started! - Z mount lenses have phenomenal optics - TONS of features for close to $1200 (120fps, uncropped 4k, interval shooting, Focus peaking, GOOD WORKING APP!) - Buy the FTZ Adapter and save some $$$$ on new lenses - Nice Upgrade path to Nikon Z6 or Z7 - 11 FPS shooting is excellent - Excellent size to form factor ratio - Nice menus/easy to use and handle even having never used a Nikon. - Touchscreen integration is very intuitive, easy to use Neutral - Battery life is much better than similar priced Sony but will be worse than some huge DSLRs - Lens lineup is starting to fill out really good now but still a bit behind similar priced Sony or Panasonic/Olympus (That's why they make adapters) - Flip down selfie screen which people rag on it... But why would you use ANY flip screen when you can see live video/pic on the phone app or iPad screen?? It's much better for setting up framing and focus. Cons - No ability to customize ordering of picture profiles in the menu and no way to add your own custom picture profiles (though you can edit theirs) - No battery grip currently available if you need one Overall can't recommend enough, unless you MUST have some really specific features that are missing, such as 10-bit recording, image stab, 15+ fps for action/sports or full frame for real estate photography. This camera totally excels in most areas and is sufficient in all other areas AT This price. Unless you have tons of lenses in another system, I would point any of my professional friends to this as a personal camera.

This is a great little camera! I'm a Nikon user, and have DSLRs, a Superzoom telephoto, plus a small point and shoot. The Z50 with the 2-lens kit covers both my DLSRs and my point and shoot. It also, with a separate converter, will use my zoom lenses from my DLSRs. But at a fraction of the weight. It feels so light, and because I'm already familiar with Nikon camera settings, it is easy to use. I wanted this camera to take on trips and vacations and am extremely happy with the purchase. Takes great pictures. Easy to use. Worth the money spent. I would say to purchase at least one of the Z lenses to fully appreciate this camera. If you're thinking about getting into mirrorless photography this is a great camera to start with.

The Z50 is small, nice and small, with good physical controls and frankly fantastic kit lenses. I hope and pray they give us a few fast Dx primes one day, but the 16-250 mm range of the 2 lenses, with very light weight and outstanding optics make me happy. I do like the fact that one mount will service Dx and Fx sensors, as it is with other mounts out there. I am at home with Nikon ergonomics, they make sense to me. Images are more than brilliant. I haven't felt this much satisfaction in a long time. Whatever they have done with this 20 Mpx sensor, they've done it right. Incredibly low noise and the airplane photo shown is a 50% crop. I am so happy that this all fits in my fanny pack as I walk around no one knows what's in it. The autofocus video, which i don't use much, is still better than I was able to get out of an a6400 - in continuous. Bottom line, this works, is very affordable, gives great image quality and I want MORE Dx .... More, do you hear Nikon, MORE Dx on Z mount.

Could I give this an extra point for the "value" category? Getting beautiful sharp photos from this Z50 camera, even when cropped way down. The 16-50 pancake lens is very thin compared to similar lenses making the camera and lens very compact. The other 50-250 lens zooms out into the super telephoto range (around 375mm full frame equivalent). We have been getting great results with macro photo shots of flowers and telephoto shots of birds. Very low grain in low light shots. Photos can be cropped down quite a lot and still have sharp images. Quite impressive. The grip on the right side is deeper than most other camera this size making it easy to carry the camera and not feel like you are about to drop it. Overall a great small and light weight camera and lenses with outstanding image quality.

I am terrible with names...so I naturally forgot the name of the young male associate helping me. What a delightful experience! I have been a Best Buy customer for at least 20 years. This is the most stellar occasion yet! I dropped into the Dallas Best Buy for a lightweight Z Series lens that could offer a balance between range and price. I simply could not handle the burdening weight of the setup made up by a Z5 camera body, an old D Series 18mm-300mm lens, and the heavy adapter anymore. I tried to stay frugal for 2+ years with this old setup, but simply could not handle the weight after I decided to become a wandering photographer. While the wonderfully intelligent, friendly, and knowledgeable Black male associate (sorry once again, that I forgot your name =.=) and I chatted over the lens I was thinking about but was not in stock, my eyes got a glimpse of the Z50 Mirrorless Camera Two Lens Kit that was on sale on top of a bundle price. He and I quickly decided that the kit was a better purchase for my needs. Not only would I have 2 Z series camera bodies and 2 Z series lenses to use; I also don't need to switch lenses onto one camera body. That saves time, energy, and moments. The associate helped me with opening a new Best Buy card so I could enjoy for the 24-month no-interest promotion. He waited patiently as I unlocked all the credit freeze protections and ran to REI for something urgent while we both waited for the 1-hour recommended window before running the credit card application again. This CPA-trained associate also provided some amazing knowledge regarding my IRA/financial plans which I was bouncing off ideas with him. All in all, it was a one-in-a-lifetime, fantastic retail experience! While I don't remember your name, I do remember all the details of our cheerful encounter, and will remember it for a very long time; most likely decades. Best wishes to this stellar employee of Best Buys! Best Buy management, you all are exceptionally lucky to have him as a crew member! p.s. Absolutely in love with this kit! The lightweight features are second to none. Wearing both Z5, Z50 and the two kit lenses around my neck for 6+ hours straight a day does not kill my shoulders and neck! Satisfying photo quality too! Love it!

So much awesomeness packed into this lightweight camera! I was hesitant to try this as it was my first mirrorless purchase after switching from the DSLR format but I wasn’t disappointed. Easy to use, lightweight, super sharp images, silent shutter, 4k video quality is amazing and easy to switch back and forth between shooting stills. Excellent package deal to try out the mirrorless format!

This Z50 camera lens kit is an excellent value and takes really nice pictures. After carrying my D750 with 24-70mm f2.8 as my everyday carry, I wanted a camera that compact for travel but could also pack a punch. I found it with this setup! While this is a crop sensor camera, the 16-50mm kit lens still provides some good versatility while also being a great little kit lens. And the 50-250mm lens is even better - very nice quality lens - sharp, quite and fast focusing. I also purchased an FTZ adapter so I could use my lenses from D7500 setup. Couldn’t be happier with the adapter. I’m having a few issues with the AF-C focus remaining tack sharp all the time, but otherwise, I am super happy with this kit and I would highly recommend this setup. In fact, I like this camera so much that I sold my D750 and purchased a Z6 ii which I’m also finding to be amazing. Happy shooting!

I already have a D7500, but I wanted to venture into the mirrorless world. So far, though, due to the COVID pandemic, I haven't been able to really get out and use this camera as much as I'd like to. But the deal was too good to pass up, and I didn't want it to go away. So far, though, I really like its compact size and the fact that it's so lightweight. I've waited on getting the adapter to use my lenses from the D7500. I want to see how much use this one gets first. It's very easy to use. I like that the lenses retract a little more than other lenses. It makes them a bit easier to fit into a bag. I'll try and remember to add to this as I get to use it more.

I bought this after taking a recent vacation where we kept saying "our phone cameras just aren't doing this justice". I love the camera and am getting to know all the features it offers. It takes great pictures and can't wait to take it on our next trip. I debated between this camera and the D5600 DSLR camera, and this one was much more comfortable to hold; has a great grip and is lighter weight.

The Nikon Z50 is an excellent camera, and Best Buy's bundle offer was great! This camera is mirrorless, so feels much lighter to carry around. It's good for a beginner photographer, or someone who's into point-and-click, but it's sophisticated enough for a seasoned photographer as well. Highly recommended. The lenses that came in the bundle are excellent as well.

Camera received solid reviews; offered at a great price with added lenses; delivered promptly and safely. The camera is lightweight and easy to hold. There is a steep learning curve for a novice to climb. Be ready for the challenge. Purchased the “drips and drops” additional warranty protection with young and curious grandkids. Well worth it already.

If I want something small with me, this is the set. The Z50 handles better and focus faster than my A6500. The grip is the best when I compare with my A6500 and XT-10. Sharpness and resolution of the two kit lens are of excellent...

Fantastic! If you are thinking about another crop sensor mirrorless camera, don’t! I loved everything about this while reading about it before my purchase. Coming from an FX DSLR (D610), it felt odd going back to a crop sensor camera. Let me say that this z50 kit has REALLY impressed me. Also, the included lenses are both fantastic. I believe Nikon is trying to do a REALLY nice job with all of their Z lenses, and they are all coming out great from what I am reading. The 16-50 has great focal length coverage for day to day shooting, is very sharp, and focuses very close. It collapses in on itself as well! VR is fantastic as well. The 50-250 at its longest 250mm length is equal to about 375mm on a full frame camera. Back to the crop sensor “issue” I find that this camera is great in low light, has plenty of resolution for almost anyone (other than the pixel counters that have to have 4x what they need for no reason) Autofocus is great, especially the eye detection modes. The EVF’s colors and clarity are awesome. Can browse the menus as well as your photos previously taken as well. I was at first worried it might give me a headache but I got used to it in a few days. Much brighter and more colorful than an optical viewfinder. I may purchase a 35mm f1.8 z lens in the future, but to be honest, the included lenses are fantastic for all of my needs, even for low light. Don’t forget, the rear elements of these lenses are MUCH closer to the sensor than they would be on a DSLR. Also, the lens mount is quite a bit larger, also allowing for more light. Don’t let the high minimum f numbers of these lenses scare you. Very high quality lenses. But I cannot wait to see what this camera will do with a fast prime. Build quality of the body and lenses is superb. LCD is of very high quality. Battery life has been WAY better than rated in my experience. Gotten over 1,000 shots per charge, even while using the EVF. The colors in the images from this camera are beautiful, just as they are in the viewfinder. Try it, customize all your settings as desired, and you won’t be disappointed.
