Amazing machine!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a self-proclaimed "middle of the road coffee drinker" - meaning I don't consider myself a connoisseur nor do I not like coffee - I wanted to try something different after getting bored with some ongoing problems with one of the major pod coffee machines. I had debated for months getting an espresso machine and struggled to justify something I wasn't certain I'd use. After having another issue with my pod-machine (one of the major brands) and being forced into needing a new machine, I started my research. Going into it, I wanted to ensure that I had the availability of a drip coffee for the convenience I sought with my morning coffee, but I wanted to also expand my tastes with new options that an espresso machine provides. After reading reviews and watching videos on the various options, I came across the Ninja. To be honest, the Ninja brand was never one that I particularly was interested in but I had no real reason why. I always had this clouded view that Ninja was a cheap brand that made niche gadgets that I wouldn't be happy with. After reading several reviews and watching a particular coffee video review on YouTube, I was particularly excited that I could get both of my desires in one machine - which I was unaware was even an option. I also liked that the machine seemed to be made for more of a novice user like me. To help matters, Best Buy was selling it on sale, and I had accumulated quite a few reward points and was able to pick it up for about half the price. The machine arrived within a couple days and I immediately unboxed it. I was quickly impressed by the quality of the materials and the aesthetic of the machine. I had picked up some coffee to try out in the machine and was immediately impressed by the quality of the output and the ease of use. Over the next couple of weeks, I found myself drinking more coffee and espresso drinks than I typically would and trying various new styles of drinks - including experimenting with some different foam styles. I was a bit worried that having to grind my own beans (you can also use pre-ground) would be a hassle and would potentially turn me off, but I quickly overcame this. It does add a couple minutes to my morning routine but it is well worth it - plus I am not polluting the world with all of the plastic pods! Overall, I am incredibly happy with the machine and glad I made the choice to try it out. I truly believe that anyone from the novice (like me) to a more experienced coffee and espresso drinker will be impressed - and at a very fair price. What I like most: - the ease of use, - the flexibility to create various coffee drinks - including espresso, drip coffee, and cold brew, - the reasonable cost of a combined, high-quality machine, - the good feeling knowing I am no longer adding to the pollution of the world with the plastic pods. What would make it better: - the model that I purchased did not offer a hot water option. The newer model has this built in, which I think is a great option if you need a cup of hot water. - the price may be a little out of range for the average person that fits my profile - but I still think it's worth it! If you find it on-sale, take advantage! - the ability to store a few different bean types - ie. espresso beans in one hopper, drip-coffee beans in another. (Note: I typically buy pre-ground for my drip-coffee needs now to keep espresso beans in the hopper and ready for fresh grinding when making espresso).

Easy to use Espresso Machine
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off I should note that I really like Ninja products. My kitchen has a number of them. Secondly I work professionally in food service, including as a barista. The machine I use at work is a fully automatic programmed for Starbucks coffee. Thus far I am really enjoying the Ninja Luxe Cafe. I had been debating the purchase for some time, and decided to take the plunge. The construction of the device feels pretty good. Yes, there are plastic pieces but that is true of most machines anymore, including the overpriced one I use for work. The machine has all the little touches I've come to expect from a Ninja product. Things like the little storage areas for the parts, the heavy duty feeling pieces, and the generally straightforward screen design. The grinder built into the machine seems to be pretty good quality. It's easy to dial in the grind. The funnel setup that it uses makes tamping easy, and I really like the setup for that. The machine pulls good shots, at least on par with the machine I use at work. The milk steamer with the whisk in the bottom makes very consistent foam, though not the best for 'art'. You can manually steam the milk if that is an issue for you though. I have not yet used the full range of features, but the core ones (making lattes and other standard hot drinks) has worked great for me. Others have complained about noise, but I've found this machine to be very quiet. The grinder makes almost no noise at all, and the biggest noise is actually the beeps the machine makes (and those can be turned off). The milk steamer can not be run at the same time as the espresso shots are being pulled. I know in professional machines you can run both at once, I don't know if that's the case with home machines. The learning curve feels a lot lower with this machine than with other semi-automatic machines. Grind weight, tamping, pulling, and steaming is all very streamlined and easy for a new user. Harder to use than a standard coffee pot, sure, but much easier to use for a consistent cup than most machines. This machine is, in many ways, a very streamlined consumer version of an espresso machine without being fully automatic (and therefor costing quite a bit more). Great bargain for what it is capable of and easy to get a consistently good drink out of.

Perfect for me
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This one is perfect for me. Purchased the Delonghi Magnifica Evo first then realized its not what I wanted. Sold it to my daughter of course for a lower price and got this one. I can now make frappe in the ninja slushi without having to brew few cups of coffee. Like the fact you have many options on this one like the size of coffee and similar to my Ninja dual brew...dont get me wrong, The Magnifica Evo is a good machine just didnt meet my needs and this one exceeds them. There is a big difference. Had it for 2 months already and just love it!!

Great Semi-Auto Expresso maker. Some concerns.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'll start off by mentioning that this is my first real foray into owning a higher end at home machine. I do have a basic latte/cappuccino unit from another company, but it doesn't get hot enough to where the carbon dioxide gas actually develops a top layer crema. So this is more or less a significant upgrade from what was my previous daily routine. I have used manual pour over units for coffee/expresso, but the time and effort it took was a significant given I needed to heat up water and attempt to have a steady hand at 5-6am.. Yeah it wasn't happening. Enter.. the Ninja Luxe Cafe. INITIAL THOUGHTS: This unit is VERY large and heavy once the water and beans are dispersed. The spot you pick is going to be fairly permanent. I already had to move mine over to the other side of my kitchen as the location where my previous latte/cap maker stood was making it hard navigate water refills and clean daily. Not much else to say other than it is fairly straight forward and well built. Setup will require you to use water test strips to dial in water hardness for initial prep. This setting seems to have a lot to do with the automatic grind size after 1st-2nd cup. PROS: -Fairly consistent pour, though there are times where the expresso gets bitter from over prepping via trying to perfect my tampering. You only really need 1 press and a twist. -I had the machine for around a week and the "Barista Assist technology" is still trying to figure out the perfect grind size. Started at 12 and ended up working down to 08 over time (heavy use). I'm not sure if this is 100% optimal as I've gotten better early pours, but it does crema and taste decent with my choice of milk and syrups. -The grinder does seem to be quite consistent for a double shot based on weight. It's likely not the best design relative to certain hand units, but good for those that want a quick expresso run without much fuss. -Frothing is better than my previous machine.. Very consistent foam based on selection. -Top metal plate area doubles as a cup warmer or storage. CONS: -I had a bad first experience making coffee with the standard "quad shot" tray. I haven't really gone back to it as I've been enjoying the double shot expresso, but this might need more adjustment than trying to dial in the standard doubles. -Be prepared for tons of splatter on the stainless steal portion in middle of unit. I generally have to clean my machine daily because of this. -The unit will purge its frothing wand after every use. This is generally a good thing, but the bottom tray will fill up with water fairly quick and need to be dumped. It can get repetitive and annoying unless you're on top of your game with machine maintenance. -Chrome coated expresso tray will scratch easily with standard types of ceramic coffee cups. I would only recommend glass bottom expresso or latte cups when filling during double shot runs. -My unit came with an "offset" portafilter assembly. The marketing videos have a more left perfect 90 degree, but mine seems to have a right bias when in dead center "lock" position. I confirmed this is normal machine tolerance with Ninja, but it's a little annoying given the drip residue is "off center". I Might just be a little OCD here to be fair... Other units from competitors have same type of issue I think.. so not really the biggest con, but it wont be perfect to that 90 degree threshold as videos and marketing show. Tolerance to individual units! -Might need more test strips if you switch water to a different brand or use different bottle waters from multiple brands. SUBJECTIVE TASTE: As I mentioned above, I only really use this machine for double shot and I think it's quite decent. I will eventually change my water from filtered to spring water and try to find a local bean roaster for the freshest beans. The machine can crema (don't over prep) and does make decent brews with off the shelve "dunkin" whole beans, but I feel like I'm wasting a little potential here. I will have to experiment with standard coffee on the quad shots long term. Again, I use this machine mainly for expresso, but my first round of coffee was a tad subpar as noted. I think I'll eventually let the "Barista Asist" try to do its job here, but I'm more of a latte and cappuccino person anyway. OVERALL: I think Ninja went into this with a long term purpose and goal of making the best value Semi-Automatic expresso maker on market. You can tell there is a lot of love and passion in some of the design elements down to the grinder tray and portafilter. Each unit is also checked from factory/assembly before being shipped out, so you shouldn't worry that there's coffee residue on the head assembly as its "pre checked" before being sent out. I've been enjoying this machine quite a bit (first week) and I hope that I can improve my skills in making the perfect morning/afternoon drinks. There are obvious cons here and there and you should be aware of them, but I'm sure Ninja as a company will support any issue long term. It's not the perfect machine, but it also offers significant value given the US market lacks solid options relative to European brands and pricing. This unit will disrupt the market heavily in my opinion. Giving this a solid 4/5.

I've waited SO long for a machine built like this.
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I see plenty of reviews with details on all the features so I'll skip that stuff. It definitely can make any coffee drink ever, the different ones I've tried all taste great, but that's not why I'm so happy and am begging my spouse to let me keep it. I love how this thing is built. Every time I dreamed about being able to make a drink that tasted as good as a coffee shop (espresso and some frothy milk), all the products felt like two options: 1. Metal and sturdy, but you need a PhD to get things just right; 2. Simple to use, but cheap plastic and impossible to clean. I also really hate "smart" devices and touch screens that have a million ways to break and annoy you. I want buttons and knobs, not some AI deciding to "add a hazelnut flavor splash based on my recent vibes" THANK YOU Ninja for building the coffee maker I wished every other coffee maker was. It's metal and sturdy, but it tells me exactly what to do, with BUTTONS AND KNOBS! It says how/when to clean things, then I can easily take those things apart and wash/clean them! I wish new cars were like this. I wish so many other new devices were like this. I appreciate the Shark/Ninja stuff I've bought before and how long they've all lasted. This coffee maker feels like it will last a long time too. And it better, because now I'm making perfect lattes every morning without understanding how and I'm spoiled.

||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am absolutely thrilled with this purchase. I have been living with it for over a month and have had no issues. The machine comes with excellent setup guides and how-to materials that make calibration and use simple. I was brewing within minutes! I really enjoy how ergonomic it is - that each accessory has a little home built intelligently into the machine, how easy it is to take it apart for cleaning, how much it does while also not taking up too much counter space. I haven't tried the cold brew yet, but the quality of drip coffee and espresso drinks are excellent. As a former barista, I thought I would miss the ability to foam milk (manually) on my own, but I really enjoy not having to manage that. The quality of foam is also great and it's amazing to not have to monitor if you step away as it knows when the right temperature is reached. Of course, there are all kinds of ways you can customize the settings - a deep dive on YouTube will show dozens of tutorials that get into the weeds of customizing the strength of espresso or the brew temperature but honestly, straight out of the box this thing delivers! I waited for months hoping on a Black Friday/Cyber Monday deal but couldn't wait any longer and I believe it is worth the money. The number of Ninja appliances I have at home is growing and it's easy to see why, they are all great!

Great machine! VIP Customer service!
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ok, full disclosure. Don't expect this to be as good as a $1500+ machine. And true coffee snobs will know it's near impossible to have an all in one machine make the perfect espresso. But expect it to be good, consistent, and (so far) reliable. I wanted all of the above but something that I didn't have to put a ton of time into every time I wanted to make coffee. I know how to do it but I don't have the time to do it. There's a YMMV on the espresso piece I'll get into. I previously had a Chemex Ottomatic 2.0, Aeropress, Nespresso Creatista Plus (mainly for quick espresso drinks). And I've sold them all but the Aeropress for this. It looks great on the counter, I even had to call customer service because I damaged the portafilter sleeve and I had a dedicated VIP customer service agent that did a video call and sent me a replacement immediately free of charge. Starting in reverse. The "Barista Assist Technology" needs some work. At first, I was super unhappy with the espresso shots it was making even when following the 2 shot dial in instructions. The shots were bitter and had an aftertaste. I realized that it was recommending too fine of a grind for the beans so once I started experimenting with my own grind number the shots were much better and I could taste the flavor more. In short, I've dialed it in manually. That said, I wish the shots had more crema but they are good now that I've dialed it in. Everything else is amazing. It makes a very good cup of coffee, especially in the Rich setting. The frother is also really good, and I love the cold foam as well as the cold press options. It's easy to clean. Love the quad shot option. All in all, I'm very happy. I wish it made a better espresso but once you dial in your grind manually, they're good. Not $1500+ good, but very good for the price point and other features.

Great Maker
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So having the Ninja & Delonghi I can compare the 2 as in-site. The Ninja Luxe is a great looking quality machine. The grinding process is awesome with its bean detection. Process is a little more as you need to be a little more hands on vs Delonghi, but not a big deal. Ninja offers bigger sizes as with Delonghi you have to repeat options to make more coffee etc. Temp is super hot w/ Luxe. I haven’t tried the Froth process yet but guessing it’s great as well- Delonghi does make easy great Froth beverages & does it automatically. Delonghi is self cleaning as Luxe needs a little wipe down. Both machines are good looking w/ 2 different looks- see pic. I honestly like the look of Ninja. Pros: ( ninja vs Evo) -can see beans in hopper - grinding aspect -temp Delonghi (vs Luxe) - easy clean up, clean catch trays for water / pucks every few days ( depends on use) -self cleans nozzles, but uses more water. -ease of use after start up press button ( if settings are set) -Frother is easy on / off & can save in bottle what you don’t use that day ( self cleans) Cons: - Ninja takes a little more to clean - get Errors w/ Delonghi which is sometimes annoying- unplug & they go away. -Delonghi pucks drop into holder awkwardly so sometimes error says tray “full” fault when there are only 4 pucks in catch. Overall both units are great. Delonghi w/ frother is $200 more. Looks, I like the Ninja. Overall both do something great. As a coffee drinker I favor the Luxe because of taste & size options.

Outstanding espressos and instant cold brews.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I hope Luxe becomes a new product line from Ninja, because this espresso machine makes a great brew and has the fit and finish of much more expensive ones. Design wise, it has the elegance of classic chrome espresso machines with digital elements nicely blended in. The rotary dials and buttons have a solid stiffness to them and all of the metal elements have a sturdy weight and feel. Turning the portafilter all of the way into the locked position seems a little too stiff though. I know it should be tight, but I have to hold the machine down with one hand while I turn the portafilter handle with the other or else I’ll turn the whole machine. That’s really the only knock on it, but I’m hoping it’ll loosen up as I use it more and it breaks in. I love the integrated storage compartments for the tamper, funnel, basket and cleaning brush. It means I don’t need to find a special place to keep them and are therefore much less likely to get lost. But where this machine really shines is the coffee (and auto frother!). BREWS The espresso is strong and flavorful with options for a single, quad, and cold-pressed. It produces a nice crema with Lavazza espresso beans, but those aren’t my favorite beans so I’m looking forward to trying others. The bean hopper is removable for easy cleaning and it makes it easy to dump and swap out the beans early if I really wanted to. On the coffee end of the spectrum the brews available are classic, rich, over ice, and cold brew. I especially like the cold brew during this heatwave which goes great over ice. There’s even a cold frothing option which works astoundingly well and adds a great texture over an iced cold brew. I will warn you that while the coffee and espresso is outstanding, be prepared to go through beans quickly. Apparently it takes a lot of grounds to make a quality brew, but it’s well worth it. If you like your cappuccinos or lattes, or just foam, you’ll appreciate the milk jug and auto frother. Even the jug itself has some thought put into it with grooves on the inside and outside that measures ounces and recommendations for cappuccino or latte. Put it into the machine, select between dairy or non-dairy, your desired froth level and press start. A vortex immediately begins in the jug and in about a minute it whips up the perfect froth. No longer am I working the steamer wand pretending like I know what I’m doing. No, this thing froths. And as much as I used to tease people about needing foam in their coffee, it really does make it better. Going out for coffee feels pointless now and the money saved from those trips will probably offset the cost of this machine within a year. FEATURES Ninja calls this a 3-in-1 machine, because it brews espresso, coffee, and cold brew but it actually does a bit more. It has a removable bean hopper and burr grinder for that freshly ground taste. There’s a funnel you put on the portafilter and rest the whole thing in a cradle that automatically senses which basket you’re using (double or luxe) and recommends what grind size to use based on your chosen brew. The instructions are funny, because Ninja seemingly takes their coffee so seriously that they recommend throwing out the first 2 espressos made because they were calibration brews. I love it. But despite having digital elements and “Barista Assist Technology” this isn’t a fully automatic one touch espresso machine. You still need to tamp the grounds in the portafilter for an espresso, or keep it loose and level for coffee or cold brews. But overall, as long as you’re remotely tech friendly it should be a pretty easy machine to use. The screen even tells you which basket (double or luxe) to use for the brew chosen so I don’t need to reference a manual. Locking the portafilter into place takes a bit of effort, but I’m hoping it gets easier as it breaks in. Aside from selecting between espresso, coffee, and cold brew, there’s also a few customization options like brew temperature, brew strength, and milk temperature for the frother. There’s also dedicated buttons for descale and cleaning which should make maintenance a breeze. OVERALL I highly recommend this machine if you like coffee. It’s not a one touch espresso machine, but it’s simple enough to use and makes an impressive brew. Ninja has taken their fit and finish to another level with the Luxe Café and I sincerely hope this is a sign of things to come. It’s an impressive machine and now a beloved friend. I highly recommend this machine if you’re in the market. PROS - Delicious espresso and coffee - Makes a quick cold brew - Convenient auto frother - Adjustable bean grinder - Easy to find clean and descale modes for maintenance - High end fit and finish - Integrated accessories storage - Well thought out design - Impresses relatives CONS - Portafilter to group head connection too stiff - Need to turn machine off/on to change brew style after grinding beans - Sooooo many beans

This is the one!!!! Starbucks who??!!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Starbucks who????!!!! Coffee roaster runs???!!! Admittedly, I'm a bit of a coffee snob (Navy/Cop dad - it's written in my DNA)... Dad drank sludge - I was stubbornly determined to make my caffeine addiction take a different path... It happens... When my brother-in-law suggested this machine, I thought what the heck.. That's 2mos of avoiding those runs and it's paid for... Christmas present for hubby... new year's resolution... blah, blah, blah... Here's the kicker - We save nothing!!! Everybody in the house loves it so much, I still have to make the coffee roaster runs quite frequently for the fresh beans... Worth it!!! The coffees are so smoothe and rich with this machine... Everything from cold brew to espressos, to lattes and cappuccinos... delicate where it needs to be and bold when that punch is needed... Better than barista quality! This is THE ONE! Easy to use perfection!

Best machine ever
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use this almost every day! I love Starbucks and Dunkin but I am 10 miles away, and at $7+ per drink it’s unsustainable to get a daily drink. I can make one (or more) every day with this machine and not even think twice about the cost! I mainly use the double espresso and cold brew. But my mom said the drip coffee tastes good. I have also used the nondairy cold foam function and it’s really fun and delicious. I have tried a separate grinder and espresso machine and I could never figure it out to make it taste good. But somehow with this smart machine it’s always perfect.

I LOVE this machine!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not an espresso hobbiest, so I can't speak to the quality of espresso this machine makes compared to others. I am however, someone who was buying coffee from a coffee shop several times a week because espresso drinks are my favorite treat and drip coffee just doesn't always do it for me. If you're like me, and you're looking for something that will allow you to make coffee shop quality coffee at home, this machine is it! It's simple to set up, simple to use, and all of the functions work great! I've made latte's, cappuccinos, regular hot and iced coffee, cold brew with flavored cold foam, and every drink I make turns out delicious. I highly recommend that you use high quality beans and milk because your coffee will only be as good as your ingredients, but if you want to cut back on trips to the coffee shop, this will do it for you! I absolutely love this machine!

Best coffee/espresso machine EVER!!!!
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you love coffee you SERIOUSLY need to get the Ninja - Luxe Cafe Premier. It's more than I thought I'd ever pay for a coffee pot but it is soooo much more. I'm a black coffee drinker to the core but my wife likes coffee drinks with a bit more flare. However, since we got our Luxe I now enjoy a "fancy" coffee every now & then & my wife often drinks hers black. No need to be a barista to enjoy them either. The machine itself really simplifies the process & the recipe book is excellent. Ninja really thought of everything in their design & absolutely nailed it!

||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.used to have a breville, HATED it. this machine is so so good. can make whatever i want! i have experience as a barista so its super easy for me to use. i can make a complex latte in less than 10 minutes before work. the machine tells you how to make your espresso better, so simple to work. recommend if you don’t have espresso machine training to still get it cause it is user friendly

No more coffee guessing game

Ninja Review
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Product works very well, been using it for a month with 0 issues so far. As long as you clean up after you are done, empty out your drip tray. You will never have a problem with this device and it makes amazing coffee.
