We got the the 2ds instead of the 3ds because of the price difference. The 2'ds is much cheaper then the 3ds. The 2ds is basically the same thing except it doesn't play the games in 3-D.

I got this specifically to play the remastered Zelda games. At first I though perhaps it be a waste of $80 to play old N64 games but I was wrong. It has definitely been worth the price.
I don’t have a lot of time and have to set my play time to a 1 hr limit. With this I get some nice playing time. I turn it on and get into my game within seconds. I was so used to playing PS4 and it’s constant software updates and proper shutdown methods that can take up to 15 minutes. And when you have 1 hr. 15 minutes is a long time.
Anyway, it’s only $20 more than a regular console game. If your on the fence, do it. (Especially if you like Zelda)

For those of you that can't stand 3d, not necessarily in a way that you think it is stupid and impractical, because it gives you headaches. Or you just don't wanna spend that extra $100 bucks, the 2ds is perfect. You can play all the wonderful 3ds games that you can on the 3ds and access pretty much all the same features, minus the 3d part, which it tells you this a lot by the way. You can even use amiibos, however you need to purchase a separate product for this, but even with that added $20 it is still a good deal cheaper. I would recommend getting a travel case if you want to take it around since it does not cold like the 3ds I would recommend top and bottom screen protectors as well. Though that is usually a given with any handheld device. It also doesn't hurt to get a bit of extra padding around the console itself because I was told, I have not experienced it, that they don't do so hot on a drop test. I purchased a silicon one for added grip and protection. This may sound like a lot, but my total was still bellow what a New 3ds XL costs. I hope this helps with your purchasing decision!

This is a great product in that it allows you to play all the 3DS games. The price is reasonable, and though you are sacrificing 3D, the graphics are the same across the board. The build quality is typical Nintendo. The only real complaint is that it isn't the most attractive design and it is a little cumbersome compared to the small footprint of the 3DS.

The device was purchased as a cheaper replacement to a 3DS that had gotten submerged in water. However, the device perfectly replaces the 3DS in my opinion, especially for those who would consider getting one for kids under 10 years old.

I bought this for a family member and she simply loves it. It plays all 3DS games flawlessly. It doesn't have the 3D function but that's practically unnecessary for all of the games.
Do yourself a favor, if you're interested in this device, and get a carrying case to protected the exposed screen. This doesn't have the clamshell of the other Nintendo handhelds. Maybe a screen protector for each screen would be a great idea, too.

unlike the 3DS this is a one piece unit. No hinges for your kids to break yet still plays all the same games the 3DS will, but at about half the price.
Only con is it doesn’t do 3D, but that is a feature most people turn off on their 3DS anyways.
And this also includes Mario Kart 7!!!

I am buying one of the Nintendo 2ds for each of my 4 grandchildren . I have bought a few others over the years for myself so I know that my grandchildren will love opening this on Christmas morning. For my money Nintendo makes the best games. I also love how a free copy of super Mario cart is included. It is well worth it's price.

Pros:
Good games. Good parental control. Easy to use.
Cons:
Breaks easily if dropped.
The kids have loved their DS since the day we bought it. The racing, sports, music, shooter (LEGO) and puzzle games available are all pretty fun for the kids. They play them as often as we let them. The only thing preventing this item from earning five stars is the fragile screen. A three feet drop shattered both screens. We replaced it and are now more careful. Especially Mom (she dropped it).

To be honest, I just got this to play the recent Phoenix Wright game. But the fact this system was $120 cheaper than the New 3DS, it comes with a charger, and comes with Mario Kart 7 makes this an excellent deal! Also, it's easy to hold. And no clamshell design makes this hard to break. Highly recommend!

Even though some people have moved on to ipods or ipads for playing games, my kids still love using Nintendo DS. My son had an older DS that was not working so I got him this 2DS version. He loves the screen size and the fact that all 3DS games can be played on this system. Before he always complained when new games came out only for 3DS and he could not play them.

I was going to get a 3DS XL, but ended up with two 2DSs. One for me and one for my girlfriend. I love the form factor; it reminds me of the original gameboy. Highly recommend it if you don't really care about not having 3D.

I am loving my 2DS thus far. It is perfect as a cheaper alternative to the 3DS. I am happy that it can play both DS and 3DS games, replacing a need for a regular DS. My only issue is that, because it does not fold, the screen is more vulnerable to being scratched when being stored. A screen protector or case is more necessary to protect the screen on the 2DS

I was playing SSB online (For glory) as Little Mac, and was fighting a Fox. That Fox was whooping my a*s, I got so mad I snapped the screen. Had to buy another, but I went blue this time (previously had red, and should've bought red again), but they do the same thing. Good product, and really comfortable in my hands when playing SSB.
