    Excellent Handheld Gaming Experience

Small screen size of the Nintendo 2DS ended up being a deal-breaker for me. I swapped for the 2DS XL, opting out of the $50 extra 3-D feature of the 3DS XL, and it was an excellent decision. Larger screen size and reduced weight improves gaming experience. Resolution is acceptable (no different than the 3DS XL anyway). I've had no issues with the speaker placement, though I do feel vibration when played without headphones. That might be annoying, but I don't play without headphones. No complaints about the small stylus (The most stylus-heavy game I've played so far is Hey!Pikmin, and I have small-ish hands to begin with). I haven't timed battery life, but I'm pleased and can guarantee at least 5 hrs of play on my device. The color is great as I wanted something that didn't camouflage with all my other black devices. Overall, the 2DS XL is a no-regrets purchase with bang for your buck, especially as your one-and-only DS and if you eventually want the Nintendo Switch (my case).

    Great second system

I have a 3DS XL, but this 2DS XL is a great second system: It's lighter and easier to carry around. Missing from the 3DS XL: 3D graphics and forward-facing speakers. The speakers face downward and are not as loud. Also missing are the contacts for charging in a 3DS XL dock, but you can find 2DS XL docks that use the charging port. The built-in stylus is short. One advantage of the 2DS XL is access to the SD card is much easier. If you only want one system, I'd get a 3DS XL. But if you want a second one, the 2DS XL is worth considering.

Good upgrade from my old 3DS

I had an old 3DS XL from around 2013 or so that's seen better days, and I figured it was time to get a new one so I could transfer everything over. Pretty nice setup overall, not particularly fond of the orange/white combo but I can live with it since the choices were pretty slim. It's considerably lighter weight than the old ones which is a huge plus, seems like it runs much smoother than the original as well. The button layout is miles better than the original as well! If your on the fence about getting a new 3DS/2DS definitely consider getting one of these! Either the pokeball one or this one would definitely be a steal!

Absolutely great product for someone looking for a bigger screen who doesn't care about using 3D, saving $50 with better screen and much better usage!

Maybe it's just me the screen seems a little bigger even than the 3dsXL. Very sleek design, doesn't feel as thick and also it's great for people who never use the 3d anyways cuz it makes you sick

Not as sturdy feeling as the 3DS XL, but for 50 less and not having to deal with the 3D switch turning on all the time, the value is right. Get this over a 3DS, hands down.

this new 2DS nintendo came up with is a really big improvement from the original 2DS. i personaly am not a fan of the 3D visuals on the 3DS so im happy with this. it plasys all 3DS games and ds and has memory expansion capabilities and a c stick. I would have given it 5 stars but the only thing i didnt like was the cover where the games get inserted

Very good upgrade to an already excellent system. Lighter and more responsive than previous models without the unnecessary use of 3D. One of the best DS systems Nintendo has released.

Preordered this with the ship to home option. Arrived on time for the release date. She is very pleased with the fact that all of her 3ds games work perfectly with the new 2ds system.

She enjoys playing DS games, so I decided why not get her something she could play the newer 3ds games on the go. She is in love with this thing and won’t put it down now.

I looked at both this 2DS XL and the current gen 3DS XL and of the two this is definitely the better value if you don't see the 3D visual effects as a "must have" feature (it isn't really necessary to enjoy any game I've played on the 2DS/3DS platform). This has basically the same features, form factor and compatibility and costs $50 less (MSRP).

    Large Screen Without 3D

I have owned a 3DS since the original model and was tempted to buy another to get a larger screen. I found that I never use the 3D function so I was always a bit put off that the cheaper 2DS was not offered in the large screen form. This product delivered exactly what I was looking for - I couldn't be more happy with it.

I like how the screen stays in place really well (It doesn't fall down if you are moving around. I also appreciate that the screen closes very flush compared to previous DS iterations. The device works great, feels great, and has a great battery life.

A whole $50 cheaper than the 3DS. And a better gift for a younger kid who may not be able to see 3D.

I actually like this system better than I did my 3DS mostly because it's less bulky but since I don't have the 3DS no more I needed another one to play Pokemon on. I just don't like where they put the stylus it's more annoying than anything

The new 2DS XL is a fantastic introduction to the 3DS line of handhelds. The design is extremely comfortable and looks amazing. This is a great way to get into the amazing library games for the 3DS.
