Great game. I would compare combat to a bit faster than Dark Souls 3 but not as fast as Bloodborne. You can use and level up multiple weapons. Each weapon type has a different fighting style. You can also mix it up with different styles of magic and ninja skills. You can even fight through the game using ranged weapons depending on your gear and skill loadout. If you enjoyed Dark Souls/Bloodborne, I'd almost guarantee you would enjoy this game.

What a fantastic game! Even though it's clearly inspired by From Software's Souls franchise/Bloodborne, it would be wrong to simply call Nioh a clone of those games. Its gameplay is deep, varied, responsive, easy to pick up and hard to master, and incredibly satisfactory no matter what weapon class you use. In terms of world building, lore, sense of place and enemy and level design it doesn't quite reach the level of a From Software game (but what game in the industry does?), but it definitely gives them a run for their money in the gameplay department. Thoroughly recommended for any fan of Dark Souls/Bloodborne or anybody who appreciates tough action-RPG games! Team Ninja is back with a bang!

Very engaging game, if you like the genre this would be a good addition to your PS4 library

If you like the Souls games with tough bosses and losing your souls with risky death then you'll be getting a lot more of that from this title, only in a much more superior way. Unlike the souls games this game has much tougher bosses because they fight faster and harder, however you are able to counter with a much more fleshed out combat system and even magical powers to help you. The weapons and armors in this game are amazing eye candy and the enemies are more challenging then anything you've ever face.

I left a bad review for Nioh 2 because I got frustrated at the beginning of the game but eventually game to adore it. This review is for Nioh 1 and 2, both games are phenomenal. 9.99 is the bargain of a lifetime. Buy it now! And don't get discouraged, you may die to the first boss 50 times but after you get the hang of it you'll be beating him blindfolded with one hand. Hang in there.

You may get a-Nioh-late, but you are going to have an awesome ride. This is related to Dark Souls in terms of genre, but this is definitely a Team Ninja game. It has a deep combat system that they are known for from the company. It looks great, flows smoothly, and a rich item system that will keep you hunting while having you guard up. Awesome game.

I'm excited for this game. It reminds me of a ninja samurai hack and slash but it also requires patience, something good for hardcore fans. It's from the people who made the Souls game so if it's anything like Dark Souls or Bloodborne and you like them then I will get this game. Also check Salt and Sanctuary for PS4. It's a 2d Souls like game on psn that is great.

While this game takes lots of elements from the Dark Souls series, the combat is turned up a notch. The variations in stances, fast paced combos, and various new attacks you can learn makes the combat spectacular. The bosses are varied and some harder than the Souls series (however, the levels themselves are usually slightly easier). Highly recommend this game.

This game is really fun. I hope there is a sequel soon.

I have both played the alpha and beta of this game and I got to say this game is pretty good. There are some aspects that are similar to dark souls in a way. This game features 3 modes which are action, movie and movie (variable). Action prioritizes frame rate over resolution, movie prioritizes resolution over frame rate and movie variable tries to balance out both. When it comes to combat there are 3 stances; the High, Mid and Low stance that go in hand with the weapons you have. I don't really know how to write reviews on game, but it's a buy for me although I will still wait for reviews by video game reviewers or professionals just in case.

I love From Software's Souls series as well as Bloodborne and this game scratches the itch. Worthy of your $60 purchase and then some, a must have for any Souls fan enthusiast.

My favorite game of the year. Similar to Dark Souls with more combat options and more weapon diversity, but a little easier. I plan on doing a second play through.

this game is like japanese version of dark souls and bloodborne and I love how I didn't break my controller like I did for bloodborne. Japanese contents looks dope

Nioh has some of the best combat of any game I have played and it is worth trying out for that alone. However, I found that the game lacked a good variety of location types, enemies and I found the story to be very lackluster.

Soul like game, but it's more oriented toward farming equipments. If you like that sort of game, you won't regret it.

Grueling game in the similar vein of Dark Souls. If you're up for a challenge and want to develop patience, give this a shot!
