The Niu KQi 300X comes mostly pre-assembled. All you have to do is take it out of the box and attached the handlebars with 6 screws. After assembly connect it to the Niu app and update the firmware. The new firmware unlocks more riding mode customizations so you will want to do that before you take it on its first ride. Its all done via the app and its super quick to update. I was overall impressed with the build quality. Its very solid and feels good to stand on. I have no issues trusting this thing at higher speeds. Did I mention it looks really good too. Love the red accents on the black and grey. Need to stash your scooter in your car? No problem. The handlebars fold down and lock, making it more portable. Its still heavy but easier to move around when its smaller and you have something to grab onto. It basically comes with 4 riding modes. e-save, chill, standard, and wild. You can customize the way it rides in the app. It comes pre enabled with the beginner/battery-friendly e-save mode which has a limited top speed, perfect for first-time riders or letting the kids take a spin. After assembly I went in and unlocked full speed immediately. I found that Chill is the best mode for me. The throttle response on Standard and Wild are just way to torquey. In Chill mode you can give it full throttle and it will casually get up to speed making it way easier to take off and ride. I should note this thing is fast! It has no issues getting to its max speed of 23 mph in any of the 3 main modes. In fact if you change to Wild mode and keep in full speed, brace yourself because this thing is a personal missile. The combination of pneumatic tires and front suspension makes this the smoothest scooter ride I've ever experienced. This scooter feels like it glides over bumps and cracks, making even longer rides enjoyable. It's a night and day difference compared to solid tires with no suspension. The dual disc brakes combined with regenerative braking provide exceptional stopping power. You can even adjust the regen braking strength in the app, giving you more control of how quickly it stops when you let off the throttle. Makes you feel more confident when riding knowing it can stop on a dime. A lot better than most scooters Ive ridden. The display is easy to see in sunlight. It shows a few things like how fast your going and battery charge stats. Kind of wish it had more stats like which riding mode was enabled. Like their other escooters and ebikes it has the iconic ring headlight that Niu is known for. Its a bright round headlight that cuts through darkness, ensuring you see and are seen by others. The taillight automatically illuminates when you brake, further enhancing safety. But the real standout is the turn signals. While it takes some practice to activate them while riding (especially with the throttle engaged), they're a welcome feature. The Niu app acts as your central hub for everything. It lets you switch between riding modes, toggle the headlight on or off, activate the alarm, and view your riding stats, trip distance, battery status, and more. While the app offers a good range of features, the layout could be improved. Finding specific settings might require some initial digging. Overall, it gets the job done. Note that the scooter and app both come with metric enabled. You can change it to imperial in the app if you want to use mph. It has pretty descent range. More than what I need. Niu advertises a 37-mile range. In my experience, real-world range can vary depending on factors like rider weight, terrain, and riding mode. It's likely a lighter rider on flat roads might achieve closer to the 37-mile mark. For heavier riders or those tackling hills, expect a more conservative range. Pros: build quality front suspension 500W (1000W Max Power) motor max 23 mph speed dual brakes work really well bright head light/brake light folds up smooth ride easy to see display motion alarm customizable via app Cons: very torquey if not in chill mode app could use a better layout Overall I love the 300X. It has everything I look for in a electric scooter. It offers a perfect blend of power, comfort, safety, and customizations. Its thrill to ride!

Superior model improvements. I previously purchased the NIU KQi Pro. While a solid budget scooter, the 300X polished any rough edges. I also have the similar priced G2 Max and this feels crisper in the performance and very comfortable riding. I am a fan of the brand

Good scooter overall. Firmware update messed up the settings so they now reset every time you connect to the scooter. NIU tech support has not been helpful. Keep telling me they haven't heard back from the programers. Once they do they'll let me know. That's going on over a month now with that all waiting response each time.

So this is our second electric scooter, and this one is a BIG upgrade from the previous one. Let's start with unpacking and setup. I HIGHLY recommend you have a 2nd person help unpack and setup. I did this as one person, and it was just a pain. There is some weight to the scooter, and the packing material is not minor. So things can go a lot smoother if you have a 2nd person. Setup. Okay, after getting all the protective wrap off (becarefull not to scratch). Setting up the handle bar, may take a few minutes... 6 tiny screws. And you have to lineup the handle bar. They give you the proper Allen wrench, and the screws. Really simple and easy (don't forget to connect the wire before dropping the bar in place. Next the charger.. BIG charging block. Make sure you have the space for the block, and that you can reach an outlet, and the scooter out of the way. I don't really care for the fact that it is up front in the kick plate, little awkward. I also don't like that it isn't a USB or some sort of more common connector. You could easily use a USB-C on a newer high Amp charging block, to be more universal (and so you can replace the adapter easy if lost). but not the end of the world, just something to make note off. So let's get to the scooter a bit more... This is ROAD ready, with bright lights, break lights, turn signals... So you CAN go on the road, if your municipality allows it. Be Safe, wear a helmet and know the rules of the road if you do. Once you look at the scooter, you see the HIGH end breaks that are on this thing. They are not tiny, and there is a reason for it. out of the gate, the scooter is limited in its speed, about 10mph. Get used to the weight and handling of this scooter, before you go put it in sport mode. When you put it in sport mode, you are going to be able to move 25mph or more, depending not he size of the rider.. .at that speed, you can QUICKLY get hurt, if you are not safe and know what you are doing with he physics of this heavy scooter. Practice a lot on the slower speeds, and increase. But once you do... SOO much fun. We have yet been able to kill the battery, as we just can't take it too far yet.. most it has gone in one session is about 10 mi (back and forth). And the battery isn't even 50% discharged after that. This scooter, is going to college in the fall... It is a bit heavy, so make sure the rider knows how to fold and carry safely. So now lets get to where there are something that NEED to be fixed. And that is with the companion app. So default, it is in KM. It will take you a while to find where to change the Scooter AND the app to show it all in MPH (the APP display, is hidden deep in the User settings, not the scooter). That was SOO frustrating for the first 2-3 days. next, it has a great map to show you where you are, and where the scooter is.... BUT ONLY works if the scooter is in bluetooth range. Looking at the app, I was really thinking the scooter had beacon, like and AirTag, so we could keep track of it. No. I do like that I an LOCK the scooter ,from the app. Not sure if I trust that entirely to keep it from being stolen, will be investing in a good lock for it before it is off to College this summer. Last thing.. the "bell" cool addition, but it took a few tries to figure out how to work it properly. I like the analog of it.. .but also would have liked to see a digital/electric horn/bell as well.
