Not stable. The accelerator and brakes aren't smooth to operate and potentially risky.

The scooter can be amazing, definitely worth it. But as soon as you get a flat. It's hard to even find a replacement since they don't sell the correct size and costumer service doesn’t respond.

Ive gotten into electric scooters as my hobby for a few years now. My current “Hyper” scooter is an Inmotion RS which is super fast, but of course super expensive. So Ive been on the search for something that has good speed and range with just the right features I need as a second scooter for shorter rides. As well as something a lot lighter, easier to fold, and something I can actually fit in my car. The RS weighs 137lbs and is a work in patience to load up. I was looking at the Niu Kqi3 Max for awhile, but then saw the new Kqi 300X and decided to give it a try. Its pretty much fully assembled out of the box with only minor set up. The first thing that I noticed was the unique build and design. I really like the frames design and the way the deck sweeps from front to back. Its so much easier to fold and get in and out of places. And the new dual fork suspension feels like its from a much higher end scooter. Id say that is the ongoing theme of the Niu. It seems like it should cost more. The dual disc brakes have plenty of stopping power too. The cockpit is very simple, but easy to read with just the stuff you need to know without overdoing it. The ride and speed also impressed me. Im a heavier rider at about 235 (250) with all my gear on and I was easily getting up to 23mph after the initial speed restriction is gone. It feels very smooth, absorbs most street bumps with ease, but even with the new suspension I wouldnt be going off road unless its a very tightly packed hard dirt path. When it comes to range it really doesnt do any good to say “I got X amount of miles”. Because there are so many factors that effect this. Weight, ride style, wind, your tires PSI, and more can greatly effect the range. 2 people that weigh exactly the same can have 2 completely different ranges just based on how they ride. Niu lists max range at 37 miles. That was most likely done with a very light rider, in ECO mode, with cruise on on a controlled test. But for me as long as I can get where I want to go, and be able to see my range is enough to get me back Im happy. I only go for one ride a day usually then it goes on the charger which can take up to 6 hours. The app is key to getting everything the Niu has to offer. It has options for naming your scooter, tracking stats, and a lot of settings to make it “yours”. Cruise, acceleration and electronic brake settings, and a lot more can be configured in the app. I personally prefer an app over built in “P Settings” mainly because its a whole lot easier to update an app with bug fixes or new features then to do a firmware update on the scooter itself. So I have gotten exactly what I was looking for. A second scooter that is fast enough, enough range to get a nice ride in, with all the features I need. As well as a very comfortable ride, and an awesome build. Great for beginners, commuters, or someone adding to their stable. Love it.

This is a very capable scooter with room for some improvements. Assembly and Setup: The scooter comes 95% assembled. Once removed from the box, you attach the handle bars to the tube using 6 screws. Technically, you could go for a ride now...but you'll be locked to a very slow speed. Next, use the mobile app and finish the setup using a phone with Bluetooth. The instructions make it easy to connect, and it is just a few simple steps. Once connected, there will most likely be a firmware update that unlocks some new features. This whole process took me maybe 15 minutes. Riding: Once the scooter is unlocked for full speed, this thing is quick! There are many different modes that are available. You can use the app to customize even more, but you can change between some basic modes using the power/multi-function button on the "cockpit". The real tires and front suspension make it quite smooth to ride on. You will still feel bumps, but they aren't jarring and won't make you feel like every little thing is going to make you wipe out. The brakes are real disk brakes that can stop this thing on a dime. The brake handles can really lock up the tires, so be careful! Also, there is re-generative braking (AND you can customize the strength level of this). I have the re-gen set pretty high, so I hardly ever have to use the physical brakes. There are turn signals that are activated by a button with the right thumb. It will take some practice to use, especially since the throttle is also on that side. Room to improve: None of these are deal breakers, but there is room to improve. The app is a little clunky and difficult to navigate. The throttle is sensitive, and it feels like the first 1/4 or so is dead space. If you are in chill mode, it is better but it is still kinda "jerky" when accelerating. With practice, it gets better, but it is still very touchy. The turn signals can be blocked by your arms if you have a coat or anything on. Overall: Excellent scooter, with some room to improve. I would definitely buy it again!

    Mean Motor Scooter

Expert packing and shipping. Beautiful machine. Very well built. Confident it will last for years and it is SAFE. Assembly could not of been easier: simply tilted up the pole from the base to the handlebars and locked it into place. Straightened out the handle bars from their shipping configuration and drove in 6 screws with the well made allen key with a "T" handle tool they supply in the box. One button turns everything on but it was dead. So out of the box it needed 6 hours to charge. After that it started right up, we downloaded the APP easily, but it took a few frustrated tries to get the APP on our cell phone to link up with the Scooter via Bluetooth. But once it did everything was easy sailing thereon out. The App works great, making almost everything almost infinitely adjustable from the speed, battery life, lights, head light, brakes. It lets us know how many miles we have left, it lets us know where we are like GPS, it maps out routes, it has a warning so you know if someone is messing with the scooter and it even shuts off the scooter so no one can use it without permission. You can change how many scoots by foot are needed to get the motor to kick in and watch out because when it kicks in its neck breaking instant acceleration just like top end electric cars. This machine is fast and quick, two distinct things not often found together. It handles really well and brakes very well, especially when able to have the back breaks apply more than the front. It stops on a dime and the suspension makes it a pleasure to ride over more rough terrain. Such a pleasure to be able to jump on this scooter on the spur of the moment and head off to the store a mile or two away without having to get the car or truck outta of the garage, and obviously it parks any where. Took it to the gym a few miles away and it folds in a second and then when folded the post from the handle bars down to the base acts as a comfortable carry handle so it's easy to bring inside and it stores inside our locker at the gym. Just perfect. All in all we defiantly recommend this scooter to anyone and although expensive like anything else in life that is well built, it is more than worth the price. It's A Mean Motor Scooter !

    I LOVE THIS THING!

First of all, I love this thing and I will probably mention that a hundred more times in this review. I'm not a big scooter person and my wife and I have gotten along fine with just one car for a long time, but recently, we've had times where we both need transportation and it's not enough to warrant buying a new car and Ubering is expensive so this fit the bill like you wouldn't believe. Whether I want to cruise around town for hours at a time or if I need to throw on my backpack and head to the grocery store, this powerhouse makes it possible! I don't know if you would call these "cons" per se but it is VERY heavy and while it is foldable, that doesn't really save much room nor does it make it more portable than you know....wheeling it around. THE APP IS TERRIBLE but thankfully other than unlocking the scooter, you don't really need to use it. That would be the only con but since I'm reviewing the scooter and not the app, it's not reflected in my score. Pros would have to be the battery life, range, top speed, etc. People get yourself some pads (ride safe) and buy this thing. you won't regret it.

    Instantly Impressed

I am a complete newbie when it comes to electric scooters so I was more than excited to receive the NIU - KWi 300X Foldable Electric Kick Scooter. Setup was pretty easy with just minimal amount of assembly required and downloading the app. There was a firmware update that needed to be installed but was relatively fast and unlocked some additional customizations for riding modes. Build wise I am impressed at how sturdy and durable this scooter feels. I also love the color scheme with the red accents which in my mind makes it look like I went and had some customizations done lol. I also love the ease of portability with the fold down handlebars making it easy to transport it in my vehicle. The ride felt extremely smooth and comfortable with the premium tires. Braking was excellent regardless of what ride mode I was in or what speed I was slowing down from. I also appreciate the bright headlight and brake light being truly functional and not just for looks. Like I said, this is my first foray into electric scooters so I have nothing to compare it to, but I will say that this impressed me a lot and is the minimum threshold any other electric scooter would have to meet in order to get my approval.

This this so so premium and its so fast and strong it can climb hills no problem with alot of acceleration this thing is so crazy that it feels very dangerous tbh but i like it alot will be limiting the speed on it but yes worth the money but just becarful on it just know it pulls you back and goes super fast i really need to emphasize on that but it has so much control whether you want to change speed, acceleration, regenerative braking, lights its a really good scooter would 100 perfect recommend

What an improvement over the KQi3 Max. The scooter has front suspension which makes it easy to ride over bumps and pot holes. They also changed the thumb throttle to a twist grip throttle, which I feel more secure riding now. I also love the turn signals the scooter has, when driving above 20 mph it's important to be indicating to let traffic know where you're heading. The acceleration for me is top notch. I can get up to 24 mph in no time at all.

    Range

If you're looking for specs and stats I think the other reviews do a better job. I'm pretty tall and in good shape, I'm 6'5", 210 lbs and I've been testing the range since I purchased this last week. Really stretching it I can get to 20 miles, barely. Just keep that in mind if you're not a 135 lb man. Not currently getting anywhere close to that 37 mile range, but 20 works fine for me.

    brake pad problem

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

I really want to give this scooter a great review but they do not make replacement brake pads for it, Most scooters to replace the pads cost 8-15 dollars, but there is no where to find them. therefore the only way to change the brakes is to order the calipers, because they do sell calipers with brake pads in them, but that costs about $80 for two calipers with shipping. I have to change my brake pads about 1x a year. This ends up being a big cost. Having proprietary brake calipers with no source of pads is a real problem.

I purchased this and within using it (2) times it had a red Code 33! flashing. no where in the manual could I find anything about this code. it still operated so I used it for the weekend. Contacted NIU they said I have to ship it to a repair center. It brand new I explained. they said to contact Best Buy. poor customer service poor product
