Customers have good things to say about the exploration, planets, open world, and universe size in No Man’s Sky, frequently citing the vastness and enjoyment of exploring the game's many planets and universe. However, many find the gameplay repetitive and lacking in content, with some also criticizing the game's story and value for the price. The sheer scale of the game's universe is a major draw for many players, but this is often offset by concerns about repetitive gameplay mechanics.

The game is fun for a little bit before it gets repetitive. Landing on different planets is fun to look at to see the differences in ecosystems but then gets dull later. Not much else beyond that and I would recommend buying this at a later time when more features are added. The game is promising but lacks more features to be worth the asking price.

After the first 10 hours of this sci-fi themed game, the initial excitement fades away then the repetitiveness &boredom sets in.
The only gameplay feature I see is mining for minerals then buying a ship to store the minerals, selling the minerals, buying a bigger ship to store more minerals. Repeat ad nauseam.
What very little story there is some post existential gobble de gook nonsense.
Only purchase this if you are huge sci-fi fan who has wanted to explore new worlds. Even then $15 may be asking too much for this. I swear I have played free to play games that have more content than this.
Buyer Beware!

A real galaxy to explore with almost infinite worlds. Conceptually, No Man's Sky is unique and vast, the visual look of this game is pretty cool. Where this game fails though, is in its mechanics and it's repetitive game play. It relies a lot on crafting your materials from the rocks and plants on the worlds you encounter, but there's no real action (aside from the sentry bots and random aggressive animals). This game has very little incentive to keep playing and there is little to no story with very few encounters with alien beings. Those encounters are limited to a guessing game on what they're saying, though, through your travels, you can decipher their language, but that wasn't very rewarding. Even the customization of your spacecraft is pretty limited as well. Overall, if you like games like minecraft, you may like this game, but it's no where near the level of minecraft. I give it the "Beard of Shame".

Over all the other reviews between multiple game website and Steam reviews, this game can be taken with a grain of salt, but I'll sum it up to just this.
If you're a Star Trek Fan, you'll enjoy the game.
This is a basic exploration game where you go, gather materials, learn new things, discover new life, and talk with alien species. Also while becoming a millionaire and learning how to buy, sell, trade materials that you've harvested from the planets you explored.
This isn't a simulator and isn't something that is 100% accurate, but to just play it as it is and play it for fun. Enjoy it. its a game and what is meant to be taken from a game. To have fun.
Personally, i like the game, but its' nothing to really shake a stick at and not worth the $60 price tag. Its not Best Buy's fault for the price, but if you can get it for cheaper, then the game would be worth it...

No man's sky has great visuals and exploration. Gameplay is lacking though. It becomes repetitive really quickly. Recommend only playing for short periods at a time. There is barely any combat so don't play if you thought this is a Rebel Galaxy. Great game for what it is but nothing more than visuals and exploration.

Overall I have really enjoyed this game. The sheer magnitude of the game is impressive especially considering the size of the team that made this game. At times the game can feel a tad repetitive and daunting but I still have fun exploring new planets and progressing to the center. I also believe that the hello games team will continue working on this game and improving it into the future.

It doesn't seem like there is much progression to the game. The developer claims there are something like 1 TRILLION planets to discover, and there really isn't any way to go multiplayer. It's like you are literally the last human in the universe and you decide to jump in your starship and start exploring.

Such a fun game. If you like rpg games that allow you to venture at your own pace, you'll love NMS. There's so much you can do & so many species of plants, rocks & creatures. Lots of planets to venture to also. Being able to name everything you discover is a very cool feature too. Exploration at its finest

There was a lot of hype about this game so it had a lot to be in order to impress people. The graphics are ok and got better with some updates they did. They have also added extra items in game play that helped smooth graphics and added items to play like the car.
I love the feeling of taking off from a planet, flying thru asteroid fields and the occasional space ship fights. It's even fun to pick fights within a planet. It took a while for me to get used to fighting and ran away which was scary and fun when you made it away. The only reason I didn't mark it a 5 is that it does get redundant after a while - planets are very similar (they have different looks and animals - but close enough that they are all the same in a way - so the collection of materials to keep going and grow your stations, transporting back to your home planet and/or building your star cruiser does get repetitive - but not until after many hours which if you paid a lower price for this game -ie. under 20 then that's worth it. I really look forward to flying off a planet and going to another soon and would really like to get to the center of the universe some day. All the NASA and Hubble pics make this game even more fun to imagine visiting worlds far away.

For me personally the game is a wonder to play. Literally more planets than every player playing the game combined could EVER discover, and most large enough to spend dozens of hours on each finding new things. Worrying about upgrading your suit, ship, and multi-tool, figuring out how to do that, as well as survive the different hostile environments and so on.
That's not to say the game is for everyone, there is an almost complete lack of direction, although there is an abstract path you could take in order to get a "story." Many things aren't explained and you need to figure them out on your own (which is part of the thing I love about it, it doesn't hold your hand and makes the whole thing more interesting). There are some things I find a little irksome, such as there being ZERO alien colonizations on any planet, and the lack of ship/base building, which the latter has already been confirmed for a future update.
In the end, it's a game that most shouldn't spend more than $30 on, yet for me I am not one bit upset about spending the full $60 on it.

No Man Sky on PS4 is a game for a particular sort of gamer. If you're into crafting, gathering resources, exploration, and overall just relaxing into a space video game with no desire for multiplayer or PvP gameplay then this game might be for you.
If you're a hardcore gamer seeking competitive gameplay against other players or an FPS game like CoD, Destiny, Battlefront, etc then this game is definitely NOT for you.
Overall the graphics are unique to this game and the variety of creatures, worlds, can be somewhat monotonous during long extended game sessions so I would advise against playing this game for long sessions if you don't want to tire from repetitive or grind type gameplay.
There is an interesting main objective to it and however you choose to accomplish that is totally up to you, be forewarned the universe in this space game is pretty much infinite so for $60, it is not bad given the replayability in it.
If discounted someday then perhaps it would be a great pick for any gamer looking to expand their gaming hobby, library etc.
As of now it's a good game for only a particular type of gamer, it is definitely not a game for everyon.
So do search deep within yourself and know what type of gamer you are before buying in order to enjoy this game for what it really is and not what others have hyped it up to be.

The game has a cool concept with exploring plants in galaxies, naming stuff as you discover them, and collecting resources to make stuff. The reason why I only gave the game 2 stars is because there is no co-op function which the developers originally were promising before the game came out. Also after visiting a few planets, discovering animals and locations again and again becomes a bit boring. If you love games where all you do is discover stuff, collect resorces, and create stuff with those resources, then this is the game for you. I was just disappointed that the game developers promised a lot of stuff and did not deliver them all.

This game is different from all the other games out there. It is massive open world, but there is no one else (no multiplayer). after about an hour or two its just the same game play, exploring planets and earning credits, buying bigger ships Slow paced with creatures and aliens to find.

It's a good game if you like exploration, and not much direction. I've only played a couple hours so far but I had fun with what I did. I wish there were more options, like to change the planets more. Not a horrible game, not worth full, AAA price. Good for $20 though.

when i bought this i knew i would like it and i do. it is an adventure game that you explore different worlds and scan the animals and plant life and gather materials to improve equipment and your ship. most gamers probably will get bored with this type of game after awhile but for those that like to explore and relax i think you will like it.

I was one who hot burnt on the day one NMS. Sold it after rwo days. The current game is what should have been released day one. The gameplay and loop still leave something to be desired, but the exploration and scope are where the game shines.

Meh. It looked so promising. SO much potential!. Alas, it's just...meh. It's not bad, but its not really good either. Maybe I missed something or its just not for me, but its just kinda boring. Its a free roam world where you can do anything, but there's nothing to do.

Sofar 75hrs+, yes the game doesn't live up to the massive hype. That being said it is an entertaining game for those that might find exploration to be a very enjoyable experience. It held my attention for quite some time and I feel I've gotten my money's worth. Hope they add some more gameplay options like multi-player and base building.

If you're like me and love wandering open worlds like Skyrim or Far Cry 2-Primal; then you'll enjoy No Man's Sky. Yes, the game is flawed and not what was promised; but those who enjoy rambling around and following every nook and cranny will enjoy themselves.
