    Great Smart Bottle

I have had many thermal bottles over the years, most have been for keeping my water chilled but every once in a while I would use them to keep my tea hot. I have never really thought about a “smart bottle” so when I saw the Noerden LIZ Smart UV bottle (Liz from now on) I was curious and decided to get it. Inside the packaging comes the Liz, USB A male to Micro B cable attached to a removable proprietary charger head and the usual paperwork. First off I have to say I really like the design of the bottle, it is beautiful. I got the matte black variant and the look and feel are solid to me. The bottle has a textured finish that is a perfect match between smooth and rough. It feels well built and sturdy in the hand and I don’t doubt it will be durable for years to come. Also I’d like to point out that it seems to have a skid-proof base that keeps it in place on surfaces and it doesn’t sweat like some other bottles do when it contains cold liquids. When it comes to the smart features, I am impressed with what Noerden has done with the Liz. All the smartness of this bottle is housed in the cap which has the UV-C light emitter as well as the temperature sensor which is interacted with by the very top surface of the cap. The cap is not only touching capacitive but also has a LED indicator(the ring and power button on top), with various taps and presses doing different things. A long hold either turns off the bottle (it lights up white once) or turns it on ( lights up white and blinks 4 times). A single tap does a temperature check (which I’ve tested and confirmed with my own thermometer) and returns a blue light if your beverage is under below 36℃ / 98℉, an amber/yellow light if between 367℃ / 98℉ and 60℃ / 140℉ and a red light for beverages above 60℃ / 140℉. This visual cue is very useful and I appreciate that it is so easy to check this. When it comes to activating the UV-C light, two taps on top does the job and it lights up white and blinks slowly for the next 3-4 minutes. According to Noerden this kills 99.9% of all bacteria snd viruses provided that the bottle is either empty or has very clear water inside. You tap the top twice again to stop it at any time before the sterilization finishes or you can open the lid which will automatically turn off the UV light and it will flash red to signify this. When it comes to battery, its hard to confirm when this will run out. I have used it for a couple of days now with me never turning it off and doing multiple sterilizations and it still has juice. When I initially charged it ( note it was not dead right out the box) it took about an hour and a half to fully charge. While charging the cap blinked red slowly and when fully charged it maintained a steady while light. With regards to maintaining your beverage temperature. It does a great job with insulation, and I can confirm it does keep hot liquids hot to warm for at least 11 hours, and when it comes to cold liquids it does approach 24 hours of keeping them cold, with me still seeing ice cubes inside after 19 hours of use. Also it does hydration reminders every two hours, with the LED indicator lighting up with the colour of the respective temperature range. Honestly, I never thought about a bottle having the features the Liz does and the only thing I think they could have done to make this bottle better would be to create an app that connects to the bottle and tells you your battery remaining or the current temperature of your beverage. In any case this is a great affordable bottle and I definitely recommend it.

    Sleek and modern design

This LIZ smart double stainless steel bottle is a modern and stylish design that provides above and beyond what regular bottles can do. Besides the primary use of this bottle to keep beverages warm/ cold for hours "except milk," it does have a key feature that makes it unlike any other beverage bottle, which is UV sterilization. From my testing of it, it does a good job achieving about 6 hours of keeping my water cold. This beverage bottle stands out in UV-sterilizing beverages, and the touch lid indicates the type of beverage inside the bottle. The lid is rechargeable as it is the main part of this bottle because it houses the UV-sterilization device. The functionality of the lid capacitive touch sensor: 1. Pless and hold to turn on/ off the UV sterilization whether the bottle is empty or contains a beverage which makes it like a regular bottle. 2. Double-tap to being UV-sterilization 3. Shake and one tap to check the beverage temperature red for hot/ blue for cold/ yellow for tepid. 4. The lid glows every two hours as a Hydration reminder 5. Red light to indicate the charging status My takeaways from this smart bottle: One single charge that lasts for a month is significant as I don't have the charge it every day, and this is attributed to the non-existence of the Bluetooth feature that drains the battery. However, I feel okay with that since the charging lasts for a month and depends on the use. The quality build is outstanding, and elegant design and the rubber pad gives good grip and prevents surfaces from being marked or stained, and 2 hours reminder from the lid that glows white light. The Noerden app on smartphones is simple and does not require Bluetooth connectivity, but it does require creating an account and choosing the daily hydration goals, and entering other personal info such as height, weight, etc. In my case, I have iPhone, so I could sync my hydration data with the Health app to track daily data.

This new LIZ Smart Bottle from Noerden is really neat! There are so many cool features packed into this little water bottle it makes drinking water fun. First off, the looks of this water bottle are incredible. I love how sleek and modern it looks; the matte black powder coating is perfect. The size is great as it fits into cup holders nicely and isn’t too big for a gym bag or placing on your desk. The bottle cap is what makes this water bottle a smart bottle with how much tech is in it. With a quick shake and single tap to the center of the top of the cap, a led ring will display the temperature with a blue for cold, amber for warm, and red for hot. Some of the cool features include a UV-C light inside of the bottle that cleans the empty bottle or clear liquids that may be inside. With two taps to the water bottle’s cap, the UV-C light goes to work and kills 99.9% of viruses and bacteria, that is amazing! The led ring will blink white while the UV-C light is at work. Every two hours the cap will blink blue as a reminder to drink some water. I love taking this water bottle with me wherever I go and know that my water will stay cold for up to 24 hours and if I bring a hot tea the tea will stay hot for up to 12 hours. The bottle comes with a magnetic charging cable that sticks to the side of the cap. The battery life lasts a whopping full month of power! There is a Noerden APP that can be downloaded to aid in the LIZ Smart Bottle experience. The bottle does not connect to Bluetooth, but the app is there as more of a fitness tracker and can track water intake and even set reminders on when to hydrate. The APP can also connect to other Noerden products like their bathroom scales. Overall, I am impressed with this water bottle with all its features and looks. If you have the extra money, as I do see this as being a more luxury item and certainly a conversational product that might get people asking about it, it is totally worth it. I was skeptical at first, but I now grab this bottle several times a day and can already see my water intake rise. I love that I can count on my water to be clean and kept cold all day long. I love this water bottle!!

Is the lid flashing red when attempting to use the bottle for the first time? This happened to me too, and I found this useful little note on page 13 of the manual: remove the lid and leave it off for 10 minutes. Put the lid back on the bottle and it should then work normally. ## Design The NOERDEN LIZ water bottle looks like a “normal” stainless steel water bottle and you probably wouldn’t be able to tell that it contains some “smarts” just by looking at it. There is also a rubber anti-skid bottom to help prevent the bottle from sliding around on a table. A small NOERDEN logo is located on the front of the bottle near the bottom. The lid of the LIZ bottle contains the “smarts” with touch controls, LED ring light, and a UV sterilization LED on the bottom that goes in the bottle. The bottle is fairly narrow so it should fit in most cupholders, making it convenient for taking on the go. ## Performance The bottle can be turned on and off by touching and holding the touchpad on the top until the LED flashes white. Once the bottle is filled with liquid, double-tap the touch control to activate the UV sanitation LED. The lid will pulse while the sanitation process runs, which lasts about 5 minutes. The company claims that it can remove up to 99.9% of bacteria and viruses, but I don’t have the means to verify this. It’s also important to note that this will only be effective on clear water as any colored liquids will prevent the UV-C light from penetrating it thoroughly. You can check the temperature of your beverage at any time by tapping the touch control once. The lid’s LED will light up red when the liquid is above 140 degrees Fahrenheit, yellow when between 98 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit, and blue when below 98 degrees Fahrenheit. The bottle will also remind you to drink every two hours by flashing a blue or yellow light (according to the temperature) every 2 hours. This is handy as I’m guilty of not drinking as often as I probably should, so it’s nice to have the bottle on my desk near my monitor where the LED will catch my eye when it flashes. The 2-hour timer resets every time you remove the lid or if the beverage is above 140 degrees Fahrenheit. As noted above, I first thought the bottle was defective as I filled it with water and double-tapped the touch control on the lid, but the LED flashed red several times. I then found the note in the manual about leaving the lid off of the bottle for about 10 minutes to restore normal operation. I did this and it worked ever since. ## Battery The manufacturer states that a single charge will last up to a month if you only run the sanitation process once per day. The included charging cable is a Micro USB cable with a proprietary magnetic connector attached to the end. You’ll want to make sure not to lose this connector as you likely won’t find it available at your local store. It’s about $5 to purchase a replacement charging cable from NOERDEN’s website. All functions are disabled while the lid is charging, so you can not run the sanitation process while the charger is connected. It takes about 2 hours to recharge the lid. ## Differences between the LIZ and the LARQ I also have the LARQ water bottle which operates similarly: the lid contains a UV-C LED on the bottom of the lid that shines down on the water in the bottle. The LARQ sanitation process only runs for 1 minute normally (with an option to run for 3 minutes), but it also runs a short sanitization cycle every two hours to continually sanitize the water. The NOERDEN LIZ will flash to remind you to drink every 2 hours, but it does not automatically run a sanitization cycle. ## Summary The NOERDEN LIZ is convenient because it basically cleans itself if you only fill it with water. It can store other liquids, but the manufacturer recommends not storing sugary or acidic beverages for long periods of time as it can wear down the stainless steel. It has a proprietary charging connector, so make sure not to lose it, but a single charge can last up to a month so you don’t need to pack it for short trips.

The Noerden LIZ smart bottle, with UV disinfection, is a good choice for use at the office or gym. You can be sure that water from the tap or bottle filler is properly disinfected using the UV disinfection feature. The bottle fits well in the hand and has a slip resistant finish. The LED indicator on the top of the cap is clearly visible, and proved useful for checking water temperature. The bottle is well insulated and kept liquids cool for 18 plus hours. I would not recommend this bottle for extended outdoor activities such as remote camping or extended hiking trips. There is no d-ring or anchor point integrated on the bottle to affix to a pack. This would also not be suitable for water disinfection in the field because of the water clarity requirements needed for proper UV disinfection. The bottle arrived neatly packaged, but needed to be charged before use. A USB charging cable, proprietary charging clip, and user manual are included.

The LIZ Smart Bottle from Noerden is a “smart” water bottle. From the outside it looks like a lot of modern dual-insulated water bottles. Mine came in a flat black and holds 16 ounces of liquid (a 12 ounce version is available). The finish of mine gives the bottle a good grip. It’s just under 10 inches tall and just under 3 inches wide at the base. It’s similar to other water bottles not only in it’s outside looks, but also in that it can keep hot liquids hot/warm for up to 12 hours, and cold liquid for around 24 hours. The cap however, is where the difference is – inside of the bottom of the cap is a UV-C, LED bulb that per manufacturer’s claim, can help to sterilize the inside of the bottle (and/or clear liquids inside), to kill 99.9% of bacteria and viruses in the bottle. First, you use the proprietary charger which magnetically attaches to the cap to charge it (about two hours or so). A white ring will pulse on the top of the cap while charging. Once done, you press and hold the top to turn the power on, and then “tap” it twice to turn on the sterilization feature, which takes about 5 minutes. Once done, in theory, your bottle and/or clear liquid inside is pretty much germ free. You can press and hold the top again to turn the power off. They do note that this feature is not nearly as effective on darker liquids (coffee, etc), and they suggest you do not put milk in it at all (no reason given). Sodas are ok, but they suggest not doing it often or leaving them in it longer term. In other words, really, this is best used as a water bottle. You can check the temperature of the liquid inside by tapping the cap once and then gently shaking the bottle so the liquid touches the cap inside – the cap will light up red if it’s at 140 (F), yellow if it’s in-between 98-140 (F), and blue if it’s below 98 (F). This seems to work pretty accurately, and the bottle did keep my hot tea water hot for many hours. Ice water still had ice in it the next morning. A side feature is that every two hours the cap will blink to remind you to hydrate, but unless you’re actually looking at the bottle, you’ll miss it. Noerden does have an app you can download, which is generally a generic fitness app that can be used for tracking fitness, hydration, etc. It does not connect to the bottle in any way however, and I found it a bit tedious in setting up and fairly basic once signed up. The bottle is best when using it as-is with the smart cap. Side-note, the bottle is dishwasher safe, but the cap should be hand washed. Now, as far as the UV-C feature, the jury is out for me in this regard. I have UV-C test cards that when exposed to UV-C light, the word “Ultraviolet” will appear on the card in varying degrees of darkness depending on how strong the bulb is. I have used them to test other UV-C devices I own and they do work pretty well. I slid one into the LIZ bottle for a minute and turned on the UV-C cap. It did not show the “Ultraviolet” word at all. I put it back in and let it run the full 5 minutes and upon removal, you could barely (and really – BARELY) see the target word appear, so in terms of how that works, the UV-C light was seemingly pretty weak in intensity within the bottle. Again, my test cards are hardly laboratory test quality, but they do work and the test word appears much darker on other UV-C devices I’ve tried them on. Another issue is that when you run the UV-C cap and try to take it off, it turns the bulb off for safety reasons as you’re not supposed to expose your skin/eyes to UV-C light – understandable, but there’s no delay at all, it goes off before you can see if it’s on or not at all, so should the bulb actually not be on or working properly, you have no way of knowing if it’s even lighting up. It’s a very good and attractive hot/cold bottle in terms of that part of it, but, I’m not convinced the UV-C bulb is very strong, and there’s just no way to determine if it’s even really on or not (or when it eventually burns out) due to the rapid shut-off feature when you remove the cap. I’m also very much not a fan of proprietary chargers when USB-C is becoming the norm today. I know they may have gone this route to make it more watertight on the outside, but you could easily just add a rubber cover to a USB-C charging port, too. At close to $80, you’re paying a lot just for the UV feature compared to a comparable standalone water bottle so for those reasons, I have a bit of a hard time recommending the LIZ bottle, to be honest.

I need this bottle to remind me to drink water through my busy day. Charging is east and quick. The blue light is bright and catches your attention. Only 2 complaints. If the bottle it’s close you can completely miss the reminder and the size of the bottle needs to be bigger. I fill it multiple times a day. Over good concept.

Great Bottle, Not So Great Smart Bottle

Overall this Smart Bottle is pretty nifty. I downloaded the Noerden app and tested it as well. The bottle itself is sturdy yet surprisingly light; it's a nice light stainless steel with a grippable surface (rather than other traditional stainless steel water bottles which tend to be very slippery to the touch). The bottle neck conforms nicely to my hand when I pick it up. It holds exactly 16 oz. of water (or, the size of a typical bottled water, which is what I want). I set my daily hydration goal at 64 oz per day or 4 bottled waters. There are set hydration reminders if you don't open the bottle every two hours--the LED light on the lid will flash as a reminder. There is also both a water and bottle UV sterilization feature which when activated will use a UV-C light that destroys viruses and bacteria. There's also a way to check the temperature of the liquid inside the bottle via the LED light indicator on the lid; you shake the bottle then tap the lid, and the color will indicate the temp of the liquid inside (e.g. blue for cold). Unfortunately the app did not perform as well as I would have liked. The main reason that I wanted a Smart Bottle was to keep track of my daily water consumption to make sure I was drinking at least 64 oz of water a day. The app did not always work in this regard. Sometimes it would record correctly that I consumed 25% of my daily goal (or, the equivalent of 1 water bottle/16 ounces), but then as I drank more throughout the day it would not properly record the additional amounts. Some days it would not even record that I drank anything at all. Since this is the number one reason I wanted to utilize a smart bottle, I dinged this review a couple of stars. In all other respects, this smart bottle is great--the construction of the bottle itself is excellent, I like the UV sterilization feature, it really keeps water cold for very long periods of time, and it's leakproof. But its main feature--that of keeping track of my daily water intake/hydration, simply does not work.

In the normal course of a day we must stay hydrated. Having a large enough volume of whatever liquid you are drinking is the first thing I look for in a daily use Thermal Bottle and at 16oz this is the perfect size for me. Does it keep what you have in it hot or cold is also a consideration and the Noerden Liz is great at maintaining close to original temp whether it is hot or cold. I’ve had coffee in the Liz and cold beverages and temp was maintained allowing me to consume the contents over the course of a few hours if needed. Now to what really makes the Liz different. UV Sterilization- this is definitely something that is unique and useful particularly if you are a camper or ever find yourself in a position to have to drink questionable water. The Liz actually sterilizes your drink, killing any bacteria or virus in your liquid! Very timely in this day and age. You can check the temp of your drink by tapping on the lid, the indicator will show whether your drink is Cold/Warm/Hot with the various color indicators. Hydration reminders- are a nice feature as the bottle will flash the LED in the lid every two hours to remind you to drink. This is great, but, you need to have the Liz in front of you or in close proximity to notice the flashing LED. I love the Noerden Liz, its just short of perfect in my eyes however. What would make it perfect would be the linking to an app to have your phone let you know when the bottle is reminding you to drink. There is a way to have a reminder in the Noerden App but its just an alarm, not linked in any way to the Liz via Bluetooth.

I’ve been using the Noerden Liz bottle for about a week now. It arrived in simple packaging, and nothing really catches the eye, but the makers/sellers utilized the limited space well. Everything is pretty small, including the bottle, the charger and manual & safety statement are all small to scale. That’s basically all of the contents, plus a charging cable. No charging adapter, but that seems to be the trend across the majority of the companies in tech. The bottle has a nice smooth black matte color. It looks modern and elegant, but has the old school coke bottle feel and shape. It feels great to the touch as well as holding in hand because it has a small bottle-neck. Although they provide some written material, I wish there was a simple start up guide with helpful tips. There is a Quick Start section in the thick manual. What’s worse is it is in the very thick manual, it indicates you need to read everything in the manual, on the packaging and online. The manual is 84 pages, although on the first 14 pages are in English. I also read the Safety Statement, which is another 14 pages for English reading folk. It’s almost like take a semester course before you can use the bottle. The next couple pages say that the bottle is designed to be used with all types of beverages, except milk. But then proceeds to indicate that it’s not good to use with sugary, acidic and or carbonated beverages because it could damage the bottle. So basically hot or cold water, smh. I was already concerned that I might not be able to use this bottle with all of my beverages; but it does say if you use any of those beverages they recommend you don’t use with this bottle, to not leave it them in the bottle too long and make sure you wash the bottle out immediately. But I recommend cleaning it right after you use it with anything other than water… just to be safe as this bottle is not cheap. The Noerden Liz bottle is too expensive to allow the stainless steel to get ruined. I didn’t see or read anywhere in the manual, as to how long it will take to charge the lid. But I was glad it only took a couple hours and you may only need to charge the lid once a month. However, it took a very long time for the initial charge. It seemed like the red charging indicator lights continued to blink continuously and would never stop. The charge took several hours to charge. It appears as thought it was 2 ½ to 3 hours. In the Safety Statement, it indicates, among many other statements, to not drop the bottle. You really have to be careful with this bottle. You can’t get the lid very wet or submerged it in water. Technically, most of the smart tech is in the top/lid. I like that the LED indicator lights are on the top of the lid and are bright and covers a lot of the top lid so that you can clearly look over and see that the top is still charging, is fully charged or any other notice or alert. And the different colors are a big help as well as they also can indicate the temperature of contents. The Noerden Liz bottle has a hydration alert to remind you to drink water every two hours which is fantastic to ensure you stay hydrated. It has a UV-C light to kill viruses in an empty bottle and clear water- A great feature to have to stay healthy and ensure that you avoid harmful viruses that your eyes can’t detect without a microscope. A simple set of taps, that you can memorize easily, to active the sanitation process. Please note this is for sanitation only, this is not a water purification system. You need to make sure your contents are suitable for consumption. I placed some boiling hot water inside and was able to hold the bottle with ease. I didn’t feel of a temperature change if at all. This bottle is well insulated. There’s a temperature range which is indicated by the color displayed on the led. It’s helpful if you forget whether you have a hot or cold beverage inside your bottle, because the Liz bottle is so well insulated you can’t just hold the bottle in your hand and discern it it’s hot or cold liquid inside. However, it doesn’t display the actual temperature, it’s just a range. I had several difficult moments trying to tightening the lid on the Noerden Liz bottle before I realized I needed to twist it all the way down to the bottom before it’s secure and will not allow fluid to leak out. But it happened way too often. It actually became very frustrating where I even considered not using it for the day to avoid the arduous task. It’s not a good design. I want to be able to just twist my cap on my bottle and not have to stop, focus and ensure that I am twisting it just right for it to be in-line with the groves to fit just right. Almost a deal breaker for me. The Noerden Liz bottle is supposed to be good to use at home, work, gym, and or hiking, but I’m afraid I may drop the bottle and it will no longer work properly. Therefore, I can’t really use it as a sport bottle. It will just use it for drinking water around the house. There is no mention in any of the written material of an app to be used in conjunction with the Noerden Liz bottle, so there’s no place that tracts your water intake. I’ll have to remember how many cups I’ve drank or use another app to track my water intake. It would have been nice to have an accompanying app that tracked your water intake and based that intake on your health needs and body type, along with gender. UPDATE: I just happened to check the App Store and saw that there’s an app, which appears to be designed by the same company that makes this Noerden Liz bottle, but I’m not sure why they didn’t mention it anywhere in the box or in the manual. In closing, the Noerden Liz bottle is a nice concept, but it needs more work before I can recommend this bottle as the issues I mentioned earlier were just too much of a headache for me to deal with on a daily bases. Additionally, the bottle is way over priced for a 16 once water bottle.

I tried to like this product, but I just cannot. The first question everyone should ask is do you really need a bottle to tell them when to drink? Some how I mastered the ability to drink water all by myself when I was a child. Putting that aside, I was hoping for so much more in the smart functions and there really is not much. Noerden could have won me over with the wow gadget factor. Let’s look at the pros and cons: Pros – Top notch quality of materials. Nicely made bottle. UV cleaning (although I question its effectiveness at such a low wattage, but I have no way of telling.) Does not sweat. Does keep fluid warm or cold for a while, cap will tell you if it is hot or cold. Long battery life. CONS Bottle has no connectivity options. Since the app does not connect to the bottle, what does it really do except it requires you to enter info. Google has not verified the app and states that you should not use the app until the developer does so. No water intake tracking The magnetic charging piece is proprietary instead of a direct micro-USB connection. Heavy. Expensive for what you get. No true temp reading. You have to unscrew it to drink. I used the bottle for several days trying to find some benefit and I really cannot find much to justify buying this. It does keep fluids warm or cold, but I can buy a comparable thermos for 1/3 the cost. This smart bottle is like one of those products you see on television that exaggerates a “problem” and the product will make it all go away. Think of the ear wax removal tool with camera, that is what this bottle reminds me of. The bottom line is the Noerden LIZ smart bottle is poorly executed with limited functionality. It is unfathomable that a company makes a “smart” product that has no connectivity options and an app that Google outright tells you not to use (see picture.) I am sure Noerden will resolve the app not being verified shortly but it is unsettling that Google warns you not to give the app access to Google fit because the app is not verified and would be privy to sensitive info. Sorry Noerden, you have a nicely made product, but it falls way short in key areas. Add some connectivity, more app functionality, get the app verified and make it easier to drink from. People do not want to unscrew a top while they are exercising. Barely 2 stars , simply because it is a well made bottle. Hard pass.

    Drink when the light flashes

I'm terrible at remembering to drink water. I have tried my best, joining the water club at work (before we all got sent to work from home), buying all sorts of different bottles that all ended up coming back home mostly (and more often than not, completely) full. The Noerden Liz combines a flashing indicator and a smartphone app to remind you to hydrate. Every 2 hours, a non-intrusive alert appears, and the top of the cap will flash. Neither the app nor the bottle directly measure how much you've drank, instead there is a section in the app where you self-report. In the few days that I've had it, I've definitely forgotten to add a bottle, here and there. Since the bottle only holds 450 mL, they expect you to refill it often to get the day's recommended liquid intake. That's where the other nifty part of the cap comes in. A double tap of the cap and your water is bathed in UV-C light, killing off any pesky bacteria and germs that may have gotten picked up off that dodgy water fountain in the office lobby. The lack of an actual filter on the bottle means that you don't have anything to replace, but you also can't fill the bottle from a street puddle or other unpotable source and expect it to clean it into pristine water. The bottle itself has a nice grippy texture, and has an attractive, slim shape that feels good in the hand. Due to the curvature and the design of the neck, I've had to relearn how to drink so that I don't inadvertently splash my face on the first gulp of water after a refill. The trick is to take it slow and not tilt the bottle so much. The fact that it is dishwasher safe is a bonus, but I've been using my bottle brush to clean it by hand. The neck is just wide enough to get my regular cup/bottle brush in there. I like that the bottle is not so wide that it fits snugly into my small commuter sling bag. The cap lasts pretty long between recharges, which are done using a proprietary adapter connected to a micro-USB plug. I'm not quite up to the recommended 6 bottles yet, but I'm remembering to drink more often, and that alone is enough for me to feel good about this bottle.

Gets Me My Daily Water Intake

Trying to be healthier and listen to doctors, I strive to get 8 cups of water a day. I usually struggle with this as I have no good measurement of how much that really is. Also, I just forget to drink and don't really want to guzzle 64 oz before going to bed just to reach my goal. With the LIZ Smart UV Thermal Bottle, now I have a way to easily reach my goal. In short, the LIZ Smart bottle is a 16 oz (2 cup) thermal bottle. I say water bottle but it really can be used for whatever liquid you choose whether it be hot or cold. The bottle has a rechargeable power supply and is thermally insulated to keep hot items hot for 12 hours and cold items cold for up to 24 hours. Construction of the bottle is great. The bottle is mostly stainless steel. It weighs a bit more than a plastic water bottle, but it is not a problem. The bottle does thin out as it goes up. A couple times I found it slick, especially if I was working out. So, you want to make sure you have a good grip on the bottle. The top is also screw on and not pressure fit, so it stays firmly in place. There are many nice features added into this bottle which set it apart from other run-of-the-mill bottles. First off, it comes with a companion app which can be set up to send you reminders to get your water intake. No more forgetting to do that. As far as I can tell though, the app could be used without the bottle, so you could just download it and still get reminders. However, it is really meant to be a companion. You can track your hydration data, but the entry is manual. So there is a little extra work involved. I wish it was a bit more hands off though. One of the cooler features is the UV sterilization that you can perform. Nobody likes germs. And by double tapping the lid, you can activate the sterilization light that is built into the cap. It only works with clear liquids and not something like coffee, but I mostly use this for water, so it is perfect. In the end, I was looking for a water bottle that would help me reach my hydration goals of 8 cups a day. The bottle is small enough so it is portable, and I can take it with me. It even fits in my car cup holder. The app is nice as it reminds me to get more fluid in me during the day so I don't get behind, So I have what I need. However, I just wish it was just bit better. The biggest thing for me is the size. I really wish it held more that 16 ounces. I can reach my goal of 8 cups a day, but I must fill the bottle 4 times to get there. Also the companion app works great to remind me, but I also have to manually track my stats. The app won't calculate that for me. I really like the LIZ Smart UV Thermal Bottle. It is really nice and has some really nice features to help keep you healthy. I recommend it for anyone looking for a thermal bottle for their beverages. Just a couple of minor things to me kept me from giving it 5 stars.

Uber Cool Water Bottle, For Real

A water bottle is a water bottle, right? Well, maybe not anymore. The NOERDEN Liz Smart UV bottle brings a bunch of pretty cool features to an otherwise normal looking water bottle. First off, construction is good. It’s very much the same quality as most upper tier metal water bottles, with the ability to store hot drinks for 12 hours and cold drinks for 24 hours. It has a touch sensitive lid that signifies the temperature of the liquid inside, which is a pretty fun feature, but more novelty than functional in my use. What’s cool is the drink reminders, that happen either in app or on the bottle itself. If the bottle isn’t moved in 2 hours it’ll start flashing to remind you to drink. Also, you can set up the app to track your hydration and remind you to hydrate as well. I have one too many apps, so I just manually track, but find the bottle reminder to be pretty useful. The bottle could be bigger for my use case, but this is the perfect size for the gym or to stick in the side pocket of a backpack. I use this at the office where it could definitely be bigger as I’m not lugging it around everywhere. Oh, did I mention that this comes with UV-C Sterilisation. People are using UV-C to kill all sorts of bacteria, so they decide to use it on this water bottle to sanitise your water. I’m not exactly sure when this would be useful, but it seems to work? I don’t have the means to actually test the bacteria content of my water, but I’m assuming that after the 4 minute or so cycle, that all bacteria that might be in the water is now dead. I’ll have to trust NOERDEN with this information, as they’ve done the laboratory testing, not me. With all this going on with the water bottle, you know you’re going to need to charge it. The charging cable is Micro-USB, which is so 2005. At this point anything that releases with USB should be released as USB-C in my opinion. The charger is magnetic though and super easy to use. It’ll charge in about an hour or so and you should be ready to go for several more days of use. Overall this water bottle is pretty cool. Sure, it may be a solution looking for a problem, but it’s also packing a whole bunch of pretty cool technology in a nice, functional package and I can’t ignore that. If you’re pretty bad at keep hydrated or getting enough water during the day and a super tech geek, this bottle is made for you.

It isn’t all that. A regular water bottle is fine. Keep your money in your pocket.

There is a lot of good with this bottle. It’s a good size and well made. It’s has several features that add to the value. The UV sterilization is nice but the hydration reminder and temperature sensor are fantastic. The battery life is really good as well.

LIZ – Noerden Smart Bottle – 16 oz. The bottle arrived securely packed in a box with the bottle and smart lid, a charging cord, and the User Manual and a Safety Statement booklet. The bottle was not charged, so I began by plugging in the cord and attaching it to the correct place on the bottle, but every time I set the bottle down, the charger fell off. It is held on magnetically and it must be a weak magnet because I was trying to set it down carefully. After 3 attempts, I set the bottle down first and then attached the charger to it. That worked. A red light on top of the bottle came on and continued to flash slowly while it was charging, which took about 2 hours. That same light will turn white when charging is complete. The manual states that all of the smart functions are disabled while it is charging. It also states that if it flashes 4 times after charging, you need to remove it from your bottle and set it aside for 10 minutes before attaching it to your bottle again. (Usually this occurs if you try to open it while the UV Sterilization is running.) When the battery gets down to 5%, it will flash red rapidly if you touch the lid. But a full charge should last about a month if you do one UV Sterilization per day. All functions and/or indicators are used through the LED light/button on the top of the lid: • Press and hold to turn on or off the lid. The light will flash white rapidly when turned off and once when turned on. • Shake your bottle so that the contents touches the inner part of the lid, then tap the center once to find out the temperature range. It will give you 3 possible ranges based on the color of the light on the lid. Red is over 140 degrees F, Yellow is 98 to 140 degrees F., and Blue is less than 98 degrees F. • Tap the lid twice to turn on the UV Sterilization. The lid will slowly flash white while sterilizing. It will turn off when done, or you can tap twice again to turn off. If the lid is opened during the sterilization process, it will automatically go into safe mode to prevent the UV rays from causing you any harm. I had to tap the top 3 or 4 times to get this feature to come on, but it did, so if you have problems, keep tapping! If the temperature in the bottle is below 140 degrees F, the lid will automatically remind you to drink every 2 hours. It will flash the color of the temperature range (blue or yellow.) If you touch or open the lid, the 2 hour timer will start over. If you miss seeing that reminder, it won’t flash again until 2 hours later. Make sure you read the manual because there are some important safety “do’s” and “don’ts”. Pros: • The design looks sleek and classy. • UV Sterilization – Kills 99.9% of bacteria and viruses. • 12-24h hot and cold temperature insulation. Cons: • The charger falls off easily and since the charger is a unique shape, you will have to replace it with the same kind of charger if you lose it. • You must remove the lid to drink. There is no straw so you must tip the bottle to drink. • There is no beep, so you have to look at the light on the bottle to see the reminder. If you aren’t looking at the bottle when it flashes, you may miss the reminder. Just set reminders on your phone. This feature is pretty useless. • The 2 hour reminder is not adjustable. • It is not Bluetooth connected to an app to keep track of your intake. Noerden has an app, but you must manually enter your intake into it. • The bottle only holds 16 oz, so you will have to refill it throughout the day. Bottom line: I think this smart bottle is misnamed. In the past, I had a smart bottle that I could drink from without removing the lid, knew when I added a beverage to it and knew how much was in the bottle. (The bottle’s straw had sensors.) It knew how much I drank and kept track of it via a Bluetooth linked app on my smart phone. The reminder to drink was adjustable through the app and if you ignored the reminder, it would remind you again in a set number of minutes that you could adjust via the app. This bottle’s only usefulness is the UV Sterilization and keeping your beverage hot or cold for 12 to 24 hours. By day 3 of owning this bottle, I found myself keeping the lid off and using a long stainless steel straw in the bottle, because having to remove the lid every time I wanted to take a sip was annoying. If you are getting this for the UV Sterilization feature or the fact that it keeps your beverage hot or cold for 12 to 24 hrs, then this bottle is for you. If you are getting it to help you remember to drink water throughout the day, a free app on your smart phone might be a better choice.
