bought it because I wanted small phone and it is hard to find an unlocked phone compatible with the carrier I wanted to use.
Overall look is not bad but many defaults and too expensive for the caracteristics and competitors have better at the same prime or even cheaper.
Cons: only 1 GB ram, it can slow down apps, 2 is the minimum
some configs are difficult to set like sound, dialpad sound too loud, vibration too weak, UI not really friendly, camera doesn't sounds just when pressing the button to take a picture, a knife is need to open the back cover to insert the battery and sim!
Pros: unlocked and compatible with my carrier

Most mobile phones in this price range never get updated past the Android version they shipped with, but HMD and Nokia have become, in my opinion, the best and most important Android mobile phone maker when it comes to this very topic. They have shown that updates should be for everyone, not just owners of premium handsets.
Even the original Nokia 1 (2018) running Android 8.1 Go Edition was updated to Android 10 Go Edition. Other companies abandon their budget phones the moment they are released or only commit to releasing security patches for a short length of time, forcing users to purchase yet another handset if they want to run the lastest version of Android.
Is this phone perfect? No. It could probably benefit from having an extra gigabyte of RAM, for example. However, the promise of future OS updates is more than enough for me to overlook any shortcomings I may encounter. It has been my daily driver for the last few days and will continue to be for years to come. Thank you, HMD and Nokia.

I needed a phone to hold me over while I tried to get my main phone fixed. I thought it would at least be able to run the handful of basic apps like Facebook, Instagram, email, etc. but really couldn't handle much at all and apps would keep crashing. Extremely slow and laggy (typing would lag), camera wouldn't open or take photos, would take maybe 5-7 seconds to get to home screen from locked. If you can get a flip phone/regular phone as a backup, save money and go that route. If you can't afford a decent smart phone, wait a month or so and save to get one because this is a waste of time. Returned it only after a few days.

Run away from this super slow, Android Go phone

If I could give this zero stars, I would. Do not buy this phone, it was designed for the lower/emerging markets (such as India). It was intended to be made and sold as cheaply as possible. And, it is so slow and low spec it doesn't even run full Android, it runs Android Go which is not the same and was also made for low spec phones in lower income areas of the world (I am kinda upset it was sold as a "normal" Android phone).
The phone is slow, glacial. The camera would have been considered good 5-10 years ago. The build quality is poor and the screen is lifeless and somewhat dim (compared to other options).
If you need a cheap but reliable phone, buy something else. You can find great deals on top end phones from a couple years ago which will blow this thing out of the water. If you have to have a new cheap phone, close your eyes and pick any phone other than this one, you can't possibly do worse.

I generally don't give totally negative reviews but this phone is horrible. The lagging is the worst I've ever seen in a smart phone. I didn't expect anything close to a high end phone experience but most functions usually took 3-5 seconds to execute after tapping the screen & many took longer. This was only needed as a filler for a few days while waiting on my warranty replacement thankfully. It served it's purpose of keeping me linked to my phone number but I'd never recommend it for more than that. The price with it being unlocked is the only upside. If you need a super cheap phone to get by for a few days, it's a headache but a great price. I wouldn't touch it for anything more than that. It'll stay in my drawer as a temp back up if something happens to my primary phone. Hopefully I'll never need it again. I only used it for 3 days but wouldn't feel comfortable selling it to anyone, given the performance I got out of it.

Once you get under $300, it starts getting really difficult to get a “consistent” and “cohesive” experience. You’re often dealing with the cheapest chipsets, lower-quality materials, and overall, an experience from a “new” smartphone in this range will likely be outstripped by a used device — specifically former flagships. Unless you simply must buy a brand new handset, buying used is actually a great way to get a former flagship at a bargain entry point. It simultaneously helps the planet by reducing waste.

I have always been a fan of Nokia phones, this phone was bought as a temporary less expensive replacement for my galaxy that broke. That was a few months ago, it good for everyday use, email, communication, FB, it starts to slow down once you ask it to do more complicated tasks. But then again it waz the least expensive smart phone on the store

i purchased this phone for my MOM who is a senior citizen.
i figured this phone will be a good first SMART PHONE for her,
However, she has to learn and practice on this phone in order for her to really love it.
HOPEFULLY SHE WILL LOVE IT SOON AND USE IT HAPPILY!

I needed this phone for a quick two week interim before getting a new one. It's so bad. The hardware can't handle the operating system. Just opening it to send or receive a text message is an ordeal. It rings, and sometimes you can answer it, but that's about it. I thought I'd donate it when I got a new one, but honestly I don't want to insult somebody by giving them something so useless and am just going to give $100 to a local women's shelter instead. Don't buy this.

Purchased this for my senior citizen mother as her first smartphone. This phone is very basic and comes with the lite versions of the apps for most. Example is that the Google Maps app is not the same one as the normal App.
Camera takes average pictures.
Overall, for the price, this is a great phone to use as a phone. Not as great if you are using a lot of apps. She only uses the Kroger app and it seems to work fine for that. With the smaller memory, you may not want to overload it with apps.

Absolutely useless phone. It cannot multitask at all. It will not run simple weather or game applications. If I am using Messaging, looking at the weather, or trying to play a game and somebody calls me, the phone goes black and I cannot answer the phone. During calls, it will go black and often simply lose the call. I've spent hours with Nokia and they truly see nothing wrong with this. They say to close all applications if I want it to work, I kid you not!
It is too weak to run anything other than messaging, so no weather, no games, no Playstore. Trying to use Chrome is frustrating because so far I have not gone to any websites on which Chrome did not reduce functionality due to lack of processing resources on this phone.
Best Buy has not problem with this lack of performance, either. They will not take it back without charging a $45 restocking fee. They make out whether it works or not.
FWIW, this is the first time in several years that I have been disappointed by Best Buy service.

Do not buy this phone. returned it. charged me restocking fee of 45.00 .its absolutely ridiculous because the phone does not perform as even a slowest level a cell phone can be .best buy should rethink a way to retain customers because someone returning and willing to buy a another one . A percentage like 10% is fine but not 50% of the cost of the phone.. lol
