I have had them all. ROKU, Firesticks, Apple TV, but have always wanted to try the Shield. Since I have a 4k TV and a pretty decent surround sound system, I thought I would give it a try. First, Yes, with the AI Enhanced setting selected, there is a noticeable difference in the picture quality, it may come with a cost in speed and buffering, just depends on your internet and TV. The app store offers most of the same apps as the others. One issue was the Paramount Plus App. It had a horrible picture quality, which did eventually clear up some. For some apps you may need to disable the AI Enhance feature. Set up is very simple. I had it up and going in less than 20 minutes. From there it is just tweaking it to your own liking. All in all, an excellent streamer with a few minor hiccups, that can probably be resolved with a few adjustments here and there.

Awesome replacement for the FireStick. The fact that you can expand the storage is great.

Just a little bit better that version 2017, but keeps giving a excellent peformance.

If your looking for something easily pertable small with some fun games for the kids or adults this might be a good choose half the price of a xbox and a playstation. Only thing i would point out they are still updating new games coming to the console. There arent to many triple a games right now so you might have to wait to get those

As a prior owner of 2018 Shield, I can certainly say that it was worth it for streaming tv!

Comparing to my Apple TV 4k, so much more verstatile of a devise.

Much better than most out there…especially the dongle variety. Could use more storage space and maybe 4GB of RAM. Plays most things well, but in some apps like Hulu the video can get choppy/lags/hangs. I wish more Play Store apps and games were available.

All in all it's a great product. Only issue with it is the remote. The netflix button needs to go. If you have large hands every time you pick the remote up,You hit netflix. Don't need it that available. Can just be a horn button elsewhere in the remote

I needed a robust video streamer as well as a Plex media server for my ripped blu-rays on my NAS. This fits that role perfectly. Absolutely a breeze to setup. I watched a few Plex server YouTube videos and was up and running within an hour.
