After using the Amazon box, Firestick, and other android boxes we tried one of these and it’s substantially better than all the others. Quick to load and it rarely buffers 720p. Occasionally it does at 1080p but it depends on the source. Worth the money and time to just start here

the shield is a decent product for an older smart tv like mine however the 4k upscaling does not work as advertised... the remote could use some work as well.. like a home button and the netflix button is very sensitive.. otherwise this streams pretty good..

It's great with my Sony X95K 85" and HT-A9, but can be flaky.
Pro: Can output Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master
Con: No Netflix calibrated mode and flaky Plex application

absolutely the best streaming device on the market. Upscales to 4k resolution without any hitches. Plenty enough ram and storage memory for apps. Best perks are the ability to create a server as well as use the shield as a smart home hub. Especially the best on the market.

I own 2 of these, and they can stream anything from anywhere without issues. Personally, I'm not a fan of the AI upscaling and the way it changes PQ, but I use a OPPO 203 for anything local so it works out. Also, be warned, this device is on the Google ecosystem, so be prepared for the negatives that come with it.

I have an LG C1 which is awesome but i prefer the Android OS and the Play Store. That is why I bought the Shield TV. Great little box! Haven't used any of the gaming features yet. So, can't comment on that. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is it can't play YouTube HDR content. Once that is working, easy 5 stars.

Best android tv device you can purchase. I love the AI upscale feature this thing has. You can notice the difference. Aside from regular streaming apps it's an emulation machine if you know what you're doing. This is all you will ever need for multimedia.

I went with the pro because it has 64-bit Android OS.
Primarily use it for streaming movies on my NAS.
VLC is the choice for that as the codecs are good for
everything.
Only negative is that it does not support DRM when watching live TV my HDHomerun with FIOS service.
Two thumbs up!!

I love for the most part the Nvidia Shield tv, but is a little hard to navigate with it. I press for a letter or number and it slides to one different from what I wanted. the shield needs to be more accurate.

Not that sure about this yet. It was pricey and I don't see difference from the Firestick which is much cheaper and they do the same thing. Maybe I'm missing something. It appears to be good. Im curious about your thought if you have one.

It's faster than my smart TV OS but buggy as hell. I'm hoping a software update will fix the bugs. And the 3 sided remote is a cool idea but it's terrible, always rolling off the arm of my recliner, it's backlit though so that's pretty helpful.

I had the previous gen Shield Pro and eventually sold it and decided to give this one a shot since it now supports 4k. About 3 days after I got it I the now infamous Google TV firmware update happened and of course changed the whole interface changed. The whole reason I got it was for the streamlined android tv UI. Quickly returned it...eventually just got a chromecast. Same UI and about $150 cheaper. If you're not planning on installing gaming apps, emulators, and anything other than basic streaming apps it's not worth the money in my opinion.

So for the price it works great but I wouldn't buy it as a box for your tv. For less you can get the 4k roku and you would be happy. Now if you plan on doing any gaming then you should get this. It has replaced my roku but I do not like the remote and there isn't a find feature if you lose it. The remote is backlit which I like but its design doesn't feel comfortable to use.

Great product. In my opinion its hands down the best streamer/cable box. It does way more. Especially if your have a plex server. Only reason I gave it 4* instead of 5* is that its still $200. Just like 2019.
