This is the best non 3rd party streaming box youll find. Yes its from 2019, but it still beats everything else out there. The ability to do almost anything youd like to do allows your expierence to be clean and free of all those ads being shoved down your throat like some other devices like to do now. Trust me dont think about it and just buy it. If they release a new model this year I will instantly purchase it no second thoughts.

Absolutely LOVE this device! It is so simple and literally plug and watch! You can customize it to your liking and set up is a breeze. I like how slim it is and how the remote can control the power for both the device and TV.

Worth the upgrade for Dolby Vision and AI-enhanced

I had the original Nvidia Shield Tv and decide to upgrade. The additions of Dolby Vision support, AI-enhanced upscaling and vastly improved remote was well worth it, AI-enhanced upscaling is especially useful for all content that is 1080p or lower.

    Best Streaming Device!

Hands down the absolute best media streaming device in the market. I have the last generation Shield TV (the one with the minimal remote and touch volume control). I moved that one down to the basement TV which gets little use. This latest generation is noticeably faster. The best feature is the remote control. Having buttons and using AAA batteries is much better than touch controls and 2032 batteries. The AI upscaling is OK. I have mine hooked up to my 4K, HDR and I can't tell a difference between on/off. If I had to find another feature to knock, it's the lack of a dedicated mute button on the remote. You have to press the volume up and volume down at the same time for mute. Not a deal breaker because this latest generation remote control is 1,000x better than the last generation remote.

    The best streaming media device

I've used many different streaming devices before: Chromecast, Roku sticks, various TV's built in apps, and Amazon Fire TV. Out of these, the 4k Amazon Fire TV stick was my favorite and I bought one for every TV in my house, but over time the advertisements for Amazon Prime shows became annoying, and navigating within and switching between apps there is definitely a noticeable lag, which for me is very annoying. After doing some research online, I found that the Nvidia Shield Pro had excellent reviews and had abilities that went way beyond those of any of the other devices. I decided to purchase an Nvidia Shield Pro (2019) at Best Buy, and I am definitely pleased with the device. One of the most noticeable improvements, for me, is the processing power. The lack of lag when navigating menus or switching between devices is by far the lowest of any streaming device I've used before, and for this reason alone I highly recommend it. Also the remote control is excellent. The fact that it's backlit and that it lights up as soon as you touch the remote is an incredibly useful feature when watching TV in a dark room. When I hit the power button it turns on my TV and receiver as well as waking up the Shield Pro. The volume buttons control my receiver, which is just how I like it. In addition to these features, the variety of apps that you can download is excellent. Even if an app is not designed for the shield TV, there are ways to side load Android apps onto the device. Another excellent feature is the ability to stream PC games and easily connect any Bluetooth controller, including my PS4, XBox One, and Nintendo Switch Pro controllers. Both Nvidia's Game Stream and Steam Link services both work on this device to allow streaming games from your PC to the Shield Pro. I haven't used it, but the GeForce Now cloud based gaming service also works on the Shield Pro, and if course there are Android games and emulators that you can install and run on the Shield Pro. While it is a bit pricey compared to other streaming devices, I absolutely think it's worth paying the extra money to have these additional features. If you're considering a streaming player and want something a little more top of the line then the usual, you should seriously consider looking into the Shield Pro.

This little guy is amazing. Lightning fast and super easy to set up. I've tried other google boxes in the past only to be disappointed. The remote control is solid. Oh yeah, it's awesome for gaming too!!!

I came from a second gen Amazon FireTV. This unit is way more powerful and thus much faster. The Android TV interface is highly customizable as well with a slew of settings options. I have it connected to a Vizio P-Series Quantum X and it does an awesome job of upscaling all of my 1080 and 720 content to 4k. I also have an older Shield and I can tell you that this remote design is vastly superior. By using the Nvidia Shiled TV you no longer have to rely on the TV's hardware upscaling for any reason so it's an excellent option to pair with lower tier 4k TV sets. It also handles (and passes through) all of the latest audio codecs. Last note, if you have Plex you need this.

bought this to stream all of our shows and movies. replaced our amazon firestick and cube. Both did not have enough memory to run what we were doing. Game changer. I added a 120gb flash drive and this thing flies!

    Great, But Not The Best

Great device for streaming and gaming. Compatible with Dolby Vision, HDR, and Dolby Atmos sound. The Shield also gives you access to GeForce (an online library of next gen games available to purchase and download, and it does have the ability to pair to xbox and PlayStation controllers.) The device itself is extremely compact and can be stored away just about anywhere out of sight. Android doesn’t have the app support Apple does, but if you know how to side load, you’ll have no issue with that. The interface is not great, it looks really generic and has just, very basic features. For some, this is no issue at all. At first, it never bothered me, but then after having it about 6 months, I decided to get an AppleTV 4K, and the features are some much better on an AppleTV when compared side-by-side (Apple’s “watch next,” “sports,” etc. tabs are great features, and there is nothing the Shield aftershock that is similar). Overall it’s a great device to side load apps and games (sideloaded mine with retro NES and SNES games) and stream content.

    Almost same as 2017/2015 version

So this version is almost exactly the same in features/performance compared to the original 2015 and 2017 versions; which were already excellent - even still to this day. You really won't notice any improved performance, even though they claim up to 25%. Really there's just some unnoticeable-except-on-paper performance increase that is used to drive a new exclusive to the 2019 feature, AI upscaling. I find it oversharpens too much, but there's also a non-AI enhanced upscaler exclusive to this model (for now at least) that is better than the 2015 and 2017 models. This version also has Dolby Vision support, which the 2015 and 2017 lack (only basic HDR on those models). If either of those features seem worth it to you, and you have an older model, then upgrade. If you also have nether, this is the best streaming box on the market IMO.

I upgraded from the non-pro (tube) version because I wanted the USB ports. Seems overall snappier and less laggy, though admittedly that could be because my tube version is a couple years old. This thing still holds up in 2023, and is my go-to for streaming both shows and local games from my PC (via Steam Link, Nvidia no longer supports local GeForce NOW streaming) . Only dropped 1 star because the hardware itself is starting to get dated, yet is still on the pricey end. If you don't plan to use Plex and don't need USB ports, you're probably better off saving 50 bucks and going for the non-Pro version.

The Nvidia Shield Pro is advertised with the stand but does not come with the unit. It is sold separately. Although the tech is a few years old, it operates faster than most Android TV units. Thus far, I am pleased with my purchased.

I originally bought the Nvidia Shield when I didn't have a smart TV, but now even though I have a new TV, my Shield is my go-to for streaming. This tiny machine is stylish but can easily be a discrete addition to an entertainment area. It's very powerful too, so you can sign up for GeForce and stream high end games straight to your TV without a computer. I also bought a couple flash drives to plug into the back and load with extra things I wanted to watch and play. All of the streaming apps are available as well as most Android apps.
