Bought the original 2015 model. loved it but after finally getting a pc again at the time didnt see a point in keeping it. few years later realized i should of kept it. however kinda glad i got the x1+ version now as i wouldn't have if i did have my original one. now just waiting for the custom roms and root

This is my second shield. I still own the 2017 model, which looks the same. I upgrade because this is my most important device in my home theater setup (besides the speakers and amp). I use it for all streaming apps like Netflix, Prime, Plutotv and most importantly Kodi. I connect Kodi to my Open Media Vault server to host my movie collection. So far with the AI upscaling I set it low. Seems to help with detail. I found on default that it was jittery when I stream from Plutotv. I'll continue to test that feature out. Love the remote even though I use a harmony elite. The remote has a nice feel and I use it after I turn on the system for general navigation. Works well still, with my RII mini keyboard. I've yet to test the Dolby vision, but I have no doubt it will work well. If you are like me and use the device the most, then upgrade. Next version I hope is over the top in power, but I'm happy Nvidia is still active with this product.

Needed something for streaming services since our FrameTV has lag problems. Works seamlessly with our soundbar and TV and is still quick/snappy.

This streaming box is the one to get if you want all things hi def. It not only handles HDR10 but also Dolby Vision from streaming apps like Netflix and Amazon. It also CAN do Dolby Vision in apps like Plex if you rip your 4K Dolby Vision Blurays a certain way. On top of all that it handles hi def audio without issues like Atmos from Netflix and Amazon, as well as also streams uncompressed Atmos and DTS:X from Plex(something no other stream device can do). So playing an HDR10 or Dolby Vision rips via Plex, you get the full experience with hi def sound. The amount of apps have grown a LOT over the last year and has most apps that you find on other streaming boxes, with the exception of Apple TV+, but I hear that is coming later in the year. All in all, this is THE streamer to get if you care about all things hi def.

I bought the Shield mainly to stream 4k content and have my Plex server moved from a laptop to the Shield. Everything is working flawlessly and I love the speed and ease of the Shield. As an added bonus, the remote is great with backlights and an app to find it if you should ever loose it in your grandios sofa.

This streaming device has it all. The upscaling to 4K is amazing and brings it above other streamers like Apple TV and Roku. The ports make it possible to add an external device which is nice if you want to use it as an emulation device to play old school games. Remote is an upgrade from previous model. Unit is small and compact. Minus one star for not having Xfiniity Streaming App support and high price.

If you want the best streaming device Nvidia Shield is it. I own 4 of them at this point and I would recommend the Pro over the regular version. Even though there isn't supposed to be any processor difference, the Pro is a little snappier than the regular version. However, I do love them all.

I can't think of enough words to describe this little piece of tech. I've had for about a month now and I absolutely love it. There's nothing else that performs as well as the Shield TV Pro. I can really replace many things around the house. Some of the things that I've already started using on it, has been Plex Media Server, Gaming, and of course streaming. Don't let other streaming devices fool you. This product is worth every penny and it's future proof unlike my Fire TV Cube. Also, the device just works. I have another Plex Media Server and I take advantage of the full Gigabit unlike more FireTV cube. Oh and... the remote lights up when you pick it up and you can use Alexa to find it as well.

This thing is a beast. It can do a lot of things. I have a external hard drive hooked up to mine and i put games and whatever i want with it. You can turn this into your own little Plex Server if you wanted to. In addition to all of the above it has all of your streaming services (Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, ect)

We had a Pro Shield for at least 3-4 years [can't remember exactly how old] before it died. I tried to go cheaper and get the $100 Roku, but it didn't allow casting Youtube from our phone. There may be other things that it can't do, so I just exchanged it for the Shield. I paid the extra $50 for the Pro since reviews said the performance was better. It's easy to use, great performance, and love the device. The only downsides are the cost and that it may not last as long as Roku [have 1 in the bedroom that continues to outlast the original Shield]. If you don't need extra features, get the Roku for half of the price.

I started with my first Nivdia Sheild in 2017 and sense then i have purchased 3 more. This is great for streaming gaming and the speed is great and also not to mention the design. Two thumbs up great product.

This is hands down the best streaming box on the market. All major streaming services work on it flawlessly and it also does cloud gaming and regular gaming. I also use it to run emulators and it does a great job. I love it so much i bought another one.

Nice update to the remote. This is my second unit for my other TV, but I have to say this is a power horse much faster than the apple 4k tv unit or any of the other similar units like amazon fire tv, roku, etc...I have tried tham all and this unit is the best amonth them and can handle 4k videos without a hitch!

Box already comes loaded with programs, but I also added Kodi to mine to get everything I needed. Adding Kodi not required as there's plenty of free loaded programs for TV, Movies, and Sports. In my opinion definitely worth the price.

Wow! Replaced Roku Ultra with Shield TV Pro and my OLED TV picture is incredible. Sound control also improved. The only downside is there lack of documentation of settings and high price.

This streamer is a great alternative if you don't want to use the Apple TV. The sound quality on my home theater system was much better when I started using the Nvidia Shield for all of my streaming and the AI video upscaling is also a great feature if you watch older videos that haven't been remastered yet. Another plus is since this runs on android, you can sideload many other cool apps. I was skeptical at first because of the price, but I haven't looked back since switching over.

Best streaming and game box on the market cant go wrong

It has completely changed how i use my entertainment center; the remote replaces both my tv remote and my sound bar remote. The AI upscaling is also amazing. I already want another.

This is great for loading apps for streaming TV shows. It is very fast and easy to set up. This is my second Nvidia shield, I have the 2 older models and they are still working great.

The upscaling got my attention, Plex capability set the hook! Day 2 using it, blown away at the quality. I travel a lot for business and recreation, so I can throw this Nvidia box in a suitcase and connect to any tv wherever I go, or in the RV, and have my whole entertainment library with me. As there should always be some room for improvement, I am a bit irritated that Nvidia is too cheap to spend a couple nickels on the plastic and include the stand shown in the item pics, but no, apparently that's an added purchase. Seems a bit tacky to be so petty after charging $200 (for an otherwise bargain device). I am confident that many of my friends will be buying these after they see what the are capable of!
