The Nvidia Shield Pro is by far my favorite streaming device. I've used various versions of Roku, Fire TV, and even an Apple TV. All of these other streamers have limitations based on their eco-system. The Shield is the most neutral as a generic android platform that supports many different streaming apps. Using the Shield as a media server to access local files on a NAS has also been the easiest experience amongst streamers.

Wonderful device. Just using it for tv and movie streaming for now way better than my fire tv stick 4k. Am planning on using it for gaming also in the not so distant future.

Wow I owned the previous version but this one has a much better remote. But the upscaling and better visuals makes this box a great uodate. With all the great features Nvidia shield.

Powerhouse processing power and great upscaling but the remote is clunky and the Android OS can't touch Roku. Watching live sports I find myself constantly hitting the wrong button to try to rewind or fast forward and often wind up changing channels instead. Overall, unless you're using it for gaming (which I am not) I cannot recommend the premium cost of this over the incredibly intuitive UI of a Roku and a much more user-friendly remote.

Upgraded from first generation model for Dolby Vision support. Nvidia has been strongly committed to supporting the Nvidia shield tv line of products with new features and security updates for years and years after release.
It plays just about every format you could want.
Knocked a star for its latest update in the summer of 2021 that added advertisements for apps, shows and movies to the home screen. I don't expect to pay a premium price for a piece of hardware to then have ads forced on me.

I have one concern about this product, I have a feeling my Nvidia Shield Pro was a used one that got sold to me as new. I'm not positive, but the batteries were installed in the remote when I opened it, and IPVanish (a VPN software) was already installed when I got it. Maybe IPVanish come with this unit, I don't know. My unit seems to freeze up though, and I am forced to reboot it. I have had the unit for a little over three weeks, and still learning how to use it, and all the features it has. I'm almost thinking of doing a hard reset on the device, and just start over. I do like it, and the picture is wonderful. Haven't played games yet, but did get the remote.

Love this new version. Had the previous version. This is faster.
Love the remote and the fact that there is now a power button.
HDR+ and Dolby atmos are excellent updates.

This streaming device is nearly perfect. The only issue I have with it is the remote will randomly unpair itself. This is easily fixed and just a minor complaint. The SHIELD is powerful and plays beautiful 4K movies and TV shows if your display allows it. Highly recommend.

The absolute best streaming device ever!! Plays everything I throw at it from my HTPC. 4K, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, DTS HD master audio, DTSX, everything!

If you are looking for the best streaming device, look no further. This is it. Pair this with a game controller of your choice and you have a gaming system as well.

I grabbed the Shield TV for retro game emulation as well as streaming video from services like YouTube and VRV as well as from my Network Attached Storage (NAS) device/server. It works great and is powerful enough to play not only retro games but a good number of Android games for those interested. I use my XBox One controller for gaming, which works reasonably well. I will say that unless you want to stream video from local storage or emulate retro games on your TV, this device will be much more powerful than you need. You are better served buying a Google Chromecast with Android TV (for full Andoid app support), Fire TV stick (if you are a Amazon Prime subscriber), or a Roku stick (to be able to access the most streaming and live TV apps without the fuss).
The streaming device to covet... best of the best!

This baby is about to get Android 11. nVidia knows what they're doing - this is simply the best set-top media streaming device you can buy. The original 2015 Shield is STILL getting updates. This supports full 4K with all the sound codecs (including Atmos and DTS-X). Tons of options/settings, and this even uses AI to upscale 1080P to 4K (honestly I can't really tell the difference). Pipes HDR to your TV... This does it all.
Small gripe - why the weird shape of the remote? It just doesn't feel right in my hand.

Fantastic and worth every cent! We had a long term problem with audio dropping from Direct TV and streaming services. I replaced virtually everything from the TV to the receiver (all high end), same problem. Direct TV came out and replaced the DVR, same problem. The NVIDIA Shield was recommended by a friend, installed the Shield in about 2 minutes and the system works perfect. ATMOS and surround work better than ever and now all the streaming services are available with one click.
I wish I would have learned about this a few weeks sooner!

Best streaming box hands down. I’ve owned a lot of different boxes. It works almost flawlessly. This is my third box. I prefer the Shield. Worth every penny.

I have had this for a few years now. It’s nice for watching tv and cloud gaming. The only issue is the lack of support and updates. It’s small, light weight and powerful.

My first Android TV experience was the Nexus Player (which I was actually very happy with until Google bricked it with an update). That experience got my interest peaked, but I knew I didn't want to have to regularly purchase a replacement every few years. I did my research, and lo and behold, I stumbled upon the 2nd iteration of this beast of a entertainment option. I was at impressed with quality of performance & the frequency of support and updates, that when it came to purchase another (and even make recommendations to friends and family) the Shield was a no-brainer. Very satisfied with 3rd generation, as well! No contest!
