Can be glitchy, but it does work. Be forewarned, HULU and it may be a problem. i lost HULU for some time because of some settings on the darn thing, and no one except Reddit could tell me why. Once i changed the settings, it worked again, only to fail about once every month or two, requiring me to reset those settings again. it has always worked well with Prime, Netflix, Apple+, Max, and Disney. it worked with Paramount+ until recently, when it dropped me and wont let sign in to my combined Uverse/Showtime/Paramount account. Since Showtime and Paramount just merged, i will wait to see if it resolves or if it is a Nvidea issue. When in doubt, reboot this thing as it cures some issues. overall, good though.

The Shield is, for the most part, an awesome device for 4K streaming, light gaming and even Plex server functionality.
HOWEVER.
It's been updated to include ads, which sucks. It often has this weird glitch where the audio stutters until you completely restart the device.
And the remote.
Good lord what a piece of crap this Toblerone-shaped remote is.
It disconnects regularly and you have to go through a convoluted reset process each time. Now I guess it gave up entirely because it refuses to pair at all. Luckily I configured my LG CX remote to work, but it doesn't have complete functionality. Now I either need to consult Nvidia's dodgy customer service or drop 30 bucks on a new remote.
I'm sorry, but for $200 I expect the thing to at least work. This isn't a $30 fire stick.
I'd still recommend it just in case I got a defective remote, as the shield itself is pretty great overall. I've just had issues with accessories.

We used it to cut the cord finally. There are so many streaming options available. The Shield is lightning fast and responsive. Any lag you may get is most likely from the App you are using at the time. I had used one of the old Google TV puck looking device made by Asus and this surpasses that thing by miles. If you are even considering getting one don't hesitate. Hardwire it into ethernet and stream on.

This is my first time using Android TV as I have been using Roku for years and I have always had my eye on the Nvidia Shield for a while. This is quite a powerful little box here and let me be clear on something, I see lots of un-official 3rd party Android TV boxes online but I couldn't take a chance using them because I don't know how stable they are so I spent the extra money for the shield to be sure I have full support and compatibility. Setup takes at most 5 to 10 minutes going through the Nvidia settings and google settings. It took me a while to understand the Android TV UI and it is alright not the best but I have gotten use to it. Majority of the most popular apps are available on Android TV but not all apps are available like Spectrum TV app, AT&T TV and NOW plus Xfinity which is a real bummer if you subscribe to their services. Remote control design I would of prefer the remote from the 2017 model of the Shield, the remote on the 2019 model I have gotten use to the feel but for sure I don't think other people will like the feel of it. Resolution settings you have to play around with it to your liking as I have seen their AI-scaling and it will depend on your tv if it makes a difference for you in your resolution picture. I really hope that more apps will come to Android TV because it will bring serious competition for all streaming devices.

So far so good. Definitely not for the faint of heart. You do have to work at this unit to take advantage of things like Plex using a NAS, external USB storage, and lots of other (non-gaming) things. But I love the ability to bounce between apps like desktop Windows without shutting down the other apps. Remote very good. Online help not up to date for UI settings. Have 4 other Amazon 4Ks and definitely prefer this unit over them. Overall very good purchase so far.

Great streaming device with added Plex support. I was having issues streaming my h265 movie collection on Plex from a Roku Ultra. Switched to the Nvidia shield pro and every works better. The device is quicker, ai upsacling is a nice improvement when watching YouTube TV, and has the option to be used as a plex server.

I bought this because my Fire TV Stick was constantly running out of memory (it said) and would hang onto old frames which caused ghost images with my projector.
The Shield is old, but it has been much more reliable than Fire TV when used with my Epson projector.

The NVIDIA Shield Pro is one of the best electronic investments we have made. We have a few of them throughout the house and we even take one with us when we're traveling. If you're looking for a streaming media player - get this! You won't be disappointed!!

The Shield is a very sophisticated set-top box. It is not intended for novices. If you are looking to stream just Netflix, this is not the box for you. Don’t get me wrong, Netflix works great on it, but for the price, $199, it may be a waste of money compared to their streaming media. Your choice, it is a great machine. If you want a media center for all your media, then I would highly recommend it.

Purchased this for my LG TV to run different streaming apps.
This blows Roku away,
This is made by Nvidia, who is the leader in graphic cars as far as I and millions of others agree.
Nvidia is a name brand to trust.
So many more features than the Google Chrome and Roku I had before this.
If you want to step up your game, this is the way to go!

Fast and Powerful streaming device, the best in the game! And love how the updates keep coming. The shield is hard to beat. Oh and you can play games too. Plex app has a ton of Android games. Its a smart home hub, media player and gaming box. I love my Shield!
