Very good device for all your streaming needs. I use Plex, an IPTV service, all you regular "streaming" apps, and the shield handles them all perfectly without any stutter. The air upscaling is a nice feature that you get used to quick, until you watch the same content on another device and realize what a difference it makes. A bit pricey but you pay a premium for the quality hardware.

I have been using the Nvidia Shield since February 2022 and I haven't had any issues with it. It runs very smoothly without any problems. I have used several Android devices, but most had issues, unlike the Nvidia Shield. This is perhaps the best TV streaming box if you are a power user, but it may not be the best for everyone. This device can handle 4K over Plex without any hiccups. It is the only player I have tried that can keep up with an extensive Plex library. The interface is excellent, and having a powerful CPU inside a streaming box like this makes it very fast and smooth. It is much faster than my Samsung QLED TV, which wasn't slow initially. Additionally, switching between apps is fast too. You will love this device if you run apps like Kodi, which are somewhat heavy on memory and CPU usage. App support is excellent since Shield runs on Android. You can access the Play Store, which has Google TV-specific apps, but you can also sideload any Android app if you wish. The AI enhancement is probably the best upscaling you can find on any player. I have not tried them all, but after going through a few other streaming boxes and a couple of Blu-ray players, I can say that this is the best upscaling I have encountered. Since it's an Android TV, the voice recognition uses Google, and it works better than any other voice assistant.

As a Nvidia Shield TV Pro (2015) I was wondering how much better the new version (2019) is.
The hard drive is gone and replaced with a 16GB ssd. If you need more space you can connect external drives via the USB connection.
Remote: The new remote is SO MUCH better than the old one. It uses AAA batteries instead of the tiny rechargeable battery in the old one. It also adds a microphone button to use with the built-in Google Assistant. Also added is a dedicated Netflix button (a Netflix contractual requirement).
The pro adds Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support which was very important for me.
One thing I don't like is that my existing (2015) game controllers are not compatible with the 2109 version.
Also, if you have an issue, be prepared for many back and forth communications with Nvidia support.

This review is mostly about cost of item. The shield is a very good streaming box. I liked it very much. However at the price of $200 it is astronomical. It's a standard price no matter where it's purchased. Drop the price Shield. Went with the fire cube. Found it to be comparable to shield unless your a gamer. Long story short shield is a great product and would have kept it if price was affordable. I purchased the pro edition. If price is lowered I will most likely buy it again.

I bought the NVIDIA SHIELD Android TV Pro on June 27, 2025, and I can confidently say it’s one of the smartest tech decisions I’ve made all year. Whether you’re a hardcore streamer, gamer, or just someone who wants blazing-fast performance in a sleek, compact device — this little box delivers big.
From the moment I plugged it in, the difference was night and day. Apps launch instantly, 4K content looks stunning with the AI-enhanced upscaling, and Dolby Vision and Atmos make every movie feel like a theater experience. It also supports Google Assistant, so controlling my smart home and finding shows is seamless and hands-free.
But what really blew me away? GeForce NOW. I’m playing AAA games on my TV without needing a console — with minimal lag. That’s next-level stuff.
If you’re tired of laggy Fire Sticks or sluggish interfaces, this is your answer. The Shield TV Pro isn’t just a streaming device — it’s a full entertainment hub.
Highly recommend to anyone who values speed, quality, and future-ready performance.

I have 2 of the last model of Nvidia Shield Pro, but I wanted to test the Ai processing of the newer model so I bought this version. well, I was surprised that the Ai enhancement really work, especially watching movies via NetFlix and Amazon. The only problem I had was the Plex server, it did not recognized the external drive that was setup by the older version which is now connected to new one, I eventually solved the problem, so now I am really enjoying it, thinking of getting another one to replace the other one in my bedroom. I really like the new remote control, it is a lot easier to use than the last one and it use 2 3a batteries, the processor speed is a tad upgrade from the 2017 model, but it did make me notice the difference in speed, I haven't experience the buffering I was getting with the older model so far.

Excellent streaming device that has an easy to use menu for streaming app management. Also does 1080p to 4K AI upscaling incredibly well. Having used Amazon and Roku devices for years, this product was an awesome upgrade in my streaming capability and video/audio experience (Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos are key technical capabilities of the device). Although one might get sticker shock as compared to lesser capable devices, the NVidia Shield Pro is worth the price given its proven technical capabilities that are not available in other streaming devices commonly used by cord cutters.

The Nvidia Shield Pro is a serious problem-solver for continuing to make use of aging "smart TVs" that aren't working well anymore. In my case, I bought this for a five year old smart TV that got buggier and slower to the point of almost being unusable. Luckily, the TV allows for abandoning the smart features and booting off HDMI, which allows the Shield Pro to seamlessly integrate as the 'smart' system for the TV. So, it's helping to prevent waste, which is great.
The Shield Pro is nice and snappy. It's fast, it loads fast, it has solid settings. The remote is super easy to use. It's a game-changer.
But it has some issues ... The NetFlix button is constantly being accidentally tapped, even though I'm not a subscriber. Worse, the Netflix button isn't customizable via the settings -- you can't disable it. Honestly, I want to be able to disable it without having to take in a third party app. Yep, there is a third party app you can download to do it, but it apparently now costs money. No thanks.
Second big note is that Disney+ is buggy as can be on the Shield Pro. Okay, Disney+ is buggy on all platforms, but it keeps slipping into fast forwarding at random, the audio is super glitchy, and it's because the Shield isn't handling Disney's inability to provide data fast enough. The Shield doesn't allow you to increase the buffer duration/size for streaming. I'm on a gig connection (up/down), and it's definitely not our connection. So, it's odd that Nvidia doesn't do better error correction, and doesn't allow for more buffering is a little odd.
Overall, I'm thrilled with the Shield Pro -- it's solved so many problems. But the Netflix button not being programmable in the settings, the lack of a buffer expansion, and the fact that Disney+ is allowed to be buggy as can be without any checking or feedback are flaws I can't overlook.
I would buy this device again, I would recommend it to friends and family, and I would -especially- recommend it to anyone with an aging SmartTV they want to get more mileage out of before tossing it. It works seamlessly with our Samsung 58" 4K smart TV that's now ~5 years old. It's like having an all new TV thanks to the Shield.

This is my 4th nvidia shield and they just keep getting better! The remote is an upgrade from 2017 shield, and the added 4k AI upscaling is awesome! Whether you want a box for Netflix, kodi, iptv or to use as an in home media server player, it does it all! And updated often by nvidia so it keeps up with all the new technologies. No lag whatsoever between menus like some other media boxes. It does everything it says it will do and more!

Perfect Streaming device if you have 4k tv. Supports every video format under the sun and has all the apps as well. But the real kicker is the ai upscaling that can make all 1080 content and lower look way better than you thought possible. If on larger tv ie 65 or larger don't look at anything else since sharpens up picture without and motion blurring and screen jitters. All Gaming and extra imputs are a bonus.

I have been extremely impressed with the Nvidia Shield. I own 2 Apple TV 4k streaming boxes which I really liked, but 1 stopped working and there is no way for me to fix it due to lack of inputs. I was frustrated by this and saw that the Shield works well as a Plex server, so I decided to give it a shot. I have a large library of downloaded TV shows and movies on external hard drives that I run through Plex. I previously ran it all through a PC, but the Shield is more convenient. The biggest bonus is the Shield does an excellent job of upscaling my content. Most of it is 720p HD, but once the Shield's AI upscaling gets used to the content it makes it more like 4k. I haven't played any games on it yet, but probably will in the future. It is an excellent streaming box for the various services. I subscribe to most of the major ones. Picture is spectacular and the sound is too through my Dolby Atmos soundbar. The only issue I have run into is I did have a couple days where my WiFi wasn't working well enough and shows would have trouble streaming, Showtime in particular. I have a mesh WiFi system with satellites and now run an ethernet connection from one of them. I had a lot of devices on my WiFi and seemed to be having some issues with my internet signal in general. I'm not sure that any of my issue had to do with running my Shield on WiFi as it worked fine for couple weeks before that. No issues at all since I switched to the ethernet connection. I strongly recommend this product for streaming and especially if you have or are interested in setting up your own plex server.

By far the best set top streaming box. Supports UHD video in all the HDR formats and all surround including the lossless DTSHD-MA and Dolby TrueHD that smart TVs don’t support. Mainly got this for streaming video from Plex but had a lot of fun playing streaming games from my PC using steam link or Nvida Game Stream. Very little lag when hardwired even when gaming at full res 2160p30. Was even better than PS4 Pro.
Would buy again and am looking at replacing all of my chromecast ultras with the standard version of this.

I use the Shield Pro to stream YouTubeTV and other apps. The basic upscaling is excellent. Overall picture is excellent. Remote control is so much better than what I experienced with ATV. I mean, not even close. This remote feels good in my hand and has all the functions except one, the mute button. However, you can do what I did and that is download the app button mapper and configure Netflix as a mute button.
I had ATV and my wife uses Roku, but this Shield Pro is the best one I've had the pleasure to use.

Other than the price, this is one of the best streaming devices. Personally, I use to replace my LG CX built-in apps because WebOS is trash. The AI upscaling is a really nice touch and I've only been watching old animes so far, but it makes such a big difference. Gaming is ok as long as you have connected via ethernet. Although I have really good internet, it tends to lag sometimes and drop in quality when connected wirelessly.
Overall, it's a great device and I hope the next edition supports 4k120hz.

The Nvidia Sheild is simply the best device on the market when it comes to streaming devices;I added a 128gb SanDisk usb flash drive to it for extra storage, which solves the issue of it only having 16gb. I have experienced pretty much zero lag or buffering. For some people this may be a bit of an overkill, & for the price of this alot of people would probably be better off buying the chromecast, however for myself the AI upscaling feature by itself makes this device worth the extra costs.
