Customers enjoy the immersive VR experience and the comfortable design of the Rift Headset, frequently praising its lightweight feel and intuitive touch controllers. However, some users point to the lower resolution and resulting screen door effect as drawbacks, while others mention occasional motion sickness and compatibility issues with certain games or hardware. The available content library is also a point of contention for some customers. Despite these shortcomings, many appreciate the headset's overall performance and value for the price.

This is my first choice in a VR headset. After researching for days I decided to purchase Oculus Rift. It's comfortable to wear and easy to set up.

Bought this for my 13 year old for Christmas. Install and setup were easy. Got motion sickness on some games but we absolutely love it.

I have been waiting for VR to become a consumer reality since the Nintendo Virtual Boy. Based on the previous reviews, I was unsure if the Oculus Rift would meet my expectations. I have to say it went beyond my expectations and reinvigorated my enthusiasm for gaming. I even enjoy playing 2D games on it through VorpX and Virtual Desktop. In fact, my wife (who isn't a gamer) was impressed with the experience. The only negative is the lack of AAA games like Skryim, which appear to be on the horizon.

If you haven't tried VR yet you won't know what I'm saying. It brings many new entertainment into different perspective. Believe me, it's totally different experience when you have headphones on blocking out the world and these glasses on blocking out the visual of reality and putting those two senses into a horror game, your going to be scared...

The Rift isn't VR perfected; it is VR as good (mostly) as we have it in 2016. With Touch, it will probably be the equivalent of the Vive's abilities, but for right now, it's pretty awesome. The initial focus on just VR presentation rather than room-scale simulation gave the Rift some excellent titles, like the included Lucky's Tale, that are in many ways more complete games than the games that come with the Vive. Watching movies in VR is now my favorite way to do so - it's better than the theater experience.

If you can justify it, the Oculus is a great platform. I was hesitant given it's competition. The Sony headset has arguably the strongest platform, and the Vive has the best hardware. But the experience is really the point.
The Sony headset has it's shortcomings due mainly to the hardware of the system, and they take away from the experience. The Vive is expensive, and not so much better then the Oculus to truly justify it. The Rift fits right into the Goldilocks zone that new platforms really need to strive to hit to grow the market.
With integration into both the Oculus software and a healthy chunk of Steam, there is plenty of content. In addition, the lower entry point makes it much easier to justify the additional software purchases. The exclusive content is arguably better than what's available on Vive, and the only thing that the Vive really beats the Rift on is room scale VR.
They both have it, but the Vive is definitely better out of the box with it. That being said, the ability for most people to have the space for room scale just isn't there. It absolutely amazing when you can. I do, and the Rift does cerntainly support it. But it didn't take long for me to see that it's not so important for the success for VR. I have a man cave that has a lot of space. But even then, I have to constantly fiddle with the room. When I'm done, I have to put everything back, so I tend to play the games that require it less to have fun then those that do, and that begins to really put the contest firmly in the Rift's colum.
Although the company has had some problems as of late (nothing really to do with their platform) I think they are best positioned to really push the market forward in a way that Sony and Vive cannot; both a reasonably priced product, and a good VR experience.
It might be hard to justify the price point, but if you save up your award points, and get some gift cards, you will be well rewarded. Oh and Robo Relay... Yea that's the game that sells VR.

This was my first attempt at stepping into the world of VR. It took a little time to adjust (slight motion sickness) but once I did the experience was amazing. Do yourself a favor and find a Best Buy store that has it on demo so you can give it a try.
If there was one area for improvement, it would be in the screen resolution. It isn't as nice and crisp as what one would expect from a regular PC game. However, it's a minor flaw that is easily forgotten once you're immersed in the world of VR.
Also, the current deal on the Oculus bundle is hard to pass up!

i like this headset when my daughter doesn't take it. the only really problem i found is that when the background is very dark and there is white text there is a lot of "god rays". it is pretty annoying. i dont notice it much in games though. m

After getting a Gear VR with my Galaxy S7 Edge, I decided to dive all the way in with VR on a PC. I was due for a PC upgrade anyways so I built one that was VR Ready and have been using the Rift on it. Game is so fun with the Rift, but there are other things available to like small videos made for VR Specifically or even some educational types of programs. I think the Rift will be even better once the Oculus Touch controllers come out, but Im still loving it now with just the included XBOX One controller.

Bought for my husband who has been a flight simmer since 95. To hear his expressions when first using this in DCS made it worth while.
After using it my self with some of the demo stuff I would say I'm glad I bought it.
Nice 1 to 1 tracking on head and touch controlls.
Easy to set up, just don't plug it in till the set up tells you. Will need atleast 3 USB 3.0 if your getting the touch also. Head set cable is not too long but it does not get in the way.
Lens never fogged even jumping around.

What an amazing experience from the start. Installation was a breeze. Make sure you have updated all drivers before starting. Once the program starts it will warn you if you didn't. Take the time and get all in order cause you wont be setting this done for awhile. Highly recommend the controllers to go with it. Makes the experience amazing. Also, Tell everyone not to walk around you when playing. Remember you can't see them and swinging your arms or moving around your gonna hurt someone.

I had been waiting for VR for ages but when it finally came out I couldn't afford the high price of the headsets. Now that the Oculus along with the touch controllers dropped in price ($399) at the time I bought it, it was finally in my price range.
You will be blown away by the immersion you've never experienced in a game before. The touch controllers make all the difference in really putting you into the game world. Games that don't use them are still fun, but having your hands in the virtual world is the game changer.
The Oculus is definitely the leader in this first generation of VR headsets now that they completed the experience with the touch controllers and "room-scale" VR. The headset is well designed, the touch controllers are technically amazing, and the price is the best of any PC-based system.
The only things that could be improved in the next generation...
- Lighter weight. The headset is light and relatively comfortable - but not light enough yet. It weighs about a pound which doesn't sound like much, until you consider it's hanging off the front of your face.. I think they still need to try to get it down to about half that. Wearing it for a while gets uncomfortable and I wish I could wear it longer without that happening.
- Higher resolution. Resolution is great for close-up objects, but when looking at things in the virtual "distance" the resolution could really use a bump.
- A bit larger field of view. The field of view is actually very good. Making it a little larger would further increase the presence in the world.
- Wireless. The only other thing still breaking the immersion is having to manage a cable in the real world while you're somewhere else virtually.
Bottom line. Best VR system available today. The VR experiences are like nothing you've ever experienced. Can't wait for where this technology moves to in the future.

I've used google cardboard and daydream in the past and the Oculus Rift is on a whole different level. I decided to take the plunge and bought the Rift with an Alienware Aurora bundle as an early birthday present for myself. I have ZERO regrets. Gaming is fun (I definitely recommend Elite Dangerous and the Vanishing to Ethan Carter) and 'Experiences' are incredible. If you have the extra cash and a computer that can run this thing, I'd suggest making the purchase - you won't be disappointed.

I waited almost a year after release to purchase the Oculus Rift to make sure VR wasn't going to disappear overnight. Now that I purchased it I am VERY happy! It is amazing to step into a virutal world and experience games in a way I never thought possible. My only problem right now is that there is a lack of content but I know it's coming. I would highly recommend this product and if you buy it, you simply have to purchase the touch controllers. They make it a complete package.

So much can be said about this. VR does have a high $$$ barrier for entry, but is definitely worth it. New games/experiences weekly with constant updates from existing developers. Must try experience.

Immersive experiences. Not as many games as HTC Vive, but many Vive games are playable through SteamVR making the Rift a viable choice. Slight screen door effect, but much sharper, and more focused image than PSVR. There is a lens flare effect that can be distracting, but it's because the lenses are so big. Mostly noticeable on darker games. Room scale is possible with 3 sensors, so Vive isn't the only option anymore. Not as many room scale games, but hopefully that will change.

was going to get an HTC Vive until i saw the Oculus touch controllers and the ability to add a third sensor. I currently have three sensors and a 7foot by 7 foot area that allows me to walk around while in the rift. The guardian system makes it so you can map out your area so you dont walk into anything while in the rift. The Oculus store is done very well and Steam also works with the Oculus. Must Have for anyone who wants to be fully immersed in a different world.
